If a spark arrester is used, it should be maintained in effective working order by the operator. In the State of California, the above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public Resources Code). Other States may have similar laws. Federal laws apply to federal lands. Carefully read all sections and study the illustrations to ensure proper installation. If the optional Front Hitch Attachment ( ) is also going to be installed on the tractor, it should be installed in conjunction with, or prior to, this attachment. See the first paragraph in Section lll - INSTALLATION. Read and observe all WARNING and CAUTION statements. They are included to provide for the protection of the equipment installer and user, and to ensure the prolonged service life of the equipment. References to LEFT and RIGHT indicate the left and right sides of the tractor when facing forward in the operator s position. Reference to the FRONT indicates the grille end; to the REAR the drawbar end. 4 SECTION I. 3 POINT HITCH COMPONENTS Before beginning installation of the 3 Point Hitch Attachment, remove all parts from the shipping container. Refer to Figures 1 and 2 to confirm that all parts are present and to familiarize yourself with the part descriptions. Throughout the installation instructions in this manual, the component part name is followed by the reference letter or number in parentheses to aid in identification. Not all parts provided with the attachment will be used during installation. The instructions will note the appropriate part to be used for the applicable situation. 6 SECTION II. TRACTOR PREPARATION This section contains instructions for preparing the tractor for installation of the 3 Point Hitch Attachment. WARNING Place the tractor on a firm and level surface, disengage the PTO, and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Chock the front wheels to prevent the tractor from rolling in either direction. 4. Lift the locking tab of the connector and unplug the wire harness connector from the seat switch (See Figure 4). 5. Place the seat assembly to the side. SEAT SWITCH WARNING Allow the tractor to cool if it has been recently operated. HARNESS CONNECTOR A. REMOVE THE TRACTOR SEAT. On some tractors, socket head screws were used to secure the seat slide channels to the tractor frame. 1. Slide the seat rearward and remove the two torx head screws (or socket hd. screws) from the seat slide channels (See Figure 3). TORX HEAD SCREWS (OR SOCKET HD. SCREWS) Figure 4 B. REMOVE THE FENDER AND RUNNING BOARD ASSEMBLY The hitch attachment can be installed without removing the tractor fenders. However, because of limited access and to ensure proper installation, it is recommended that the fender and running board assembly be removed from the tractor. HEX WASH. HD. TAPP SCREWS SLIDE CHANNELS Figure 3 2. Slide the seat forward and remove the two rear torx head screws (or socket hd. screws) from the slide channels. 3. Grasp the rear of seat base, then carefully lift and tip the complete seat assembly so that it rests on its side. Use care to avoid scratching the paint. From beneath the right running board, remove the hex wash. hd. tapp screws and remove in the following order: the reverse control pedal, forward control pedal, and the brake pedal (See Figure 5). 4. Loosen the four wing nuts securing the dash screen to both sides of the bulkhead; then slide the screen rearward and out from below the dash panel (See Figures 7 and 8) : The following step 2 applies only to tractors equipped with the Diff-Lock feature. 2. From beneath the left running board, remove the retaining ring and hex wash. hd. tapp screw to remove the diff-lock pedal. Usecaretoavoidlosing the nylon bearing in the pedal (See Figure 6). Raise the hood and remove the side panels per the instructions in the tractor Operator s Manual. Figure 8 5. Remove the two hex screws securing the bottom of the bulkhead and the front of the running board to both sides of the frame (See Figure 7). 6. Carefully pull up the rear of the RH and LH foot pads and remove the hex screws securing the runningboardtotheframe(seefigure9). From underneath the rear fender, turn the four tail light sockets counterclockwise (approximately 1/4 turn) until aligned with the notches of the reflector housing and pull the sockets from housings. Be careful to avoid pulling the bulbs from the sockets. 8. Remove the cap from the fuel tank. Figure 7 WARNING Use care when handling the fender and running board assembly. The edges could cause cuts. 7

8 9. With the help of an assistant, lift the front of the running board off the frame brackets, then raise the rear fender over the neck of the fuel tank and the lift handle to remove the fender assembly. 10. Reinstall the cap onto the fuel tank. C. REMOVE THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. WARNING Ensure the front wheels are chocked before raising the rear of the tractor. Use jack stands to support the tractor; do not work on the tractor when supported only by the jack. 1. Use a jack placed under the rear hitch plate to raise the rear end of the tractor. 2. Position jack stands under each side of the frame, just forward of the rear wheels. Lower the tractor onto the jack stands and remove the jack. 3. Remove the lug nuts to remove the left rear wheel. D. REMOVE THE REAR HITCH PLATE AND FUEL TANK. 1. From beneath the right rear frame, remove the internal cotter pin to disconnect the hydro bypass rod from the bypass spring plate (See Figure 10). Withdraw the rod through the rear hitch plate. a. Units with Mfg. Code 1J148G and before. Remove the four hex cap screws and hex flange lock nuts to remove the hitch plate. b. Units with Mfg. Code 1J158G and after. Remove the four hex wash. hd. tapp screws to remove the hitch plate. HITCH PLATE DIPSTICK FLANGE LOCK NUTS (NOT SHOWN) OIL FILL TUBE Figure Disconnect the wire harness lead from the low fuel sensor of the fuel tank (See Figure 12). WARNING HEX CAP SCREWS OR WASH. HD. TAPP SCREWS (BOTH SIDES) Gasoline is extremely flammable; remove all sources of ignition. BYPASS SPRING PLATE 4. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the fuel line from the tank fitting (See Figure 12). Clamp or plug the fuel line, and cap or plug the fitting to prevent leakage. 5. Remove the fuel tank from the tractor. HYDRO BYPASS ROD Figure 10 INTERNAL COTTER PIN On units built Mfg. Code 1J158G and after, the rear hitch plate is secured to the frame with hex wash. hd. tapp screws. 2. Remove the rear hitch plate from the frame as follows (See Figure 11). : The transmission oil fill tube and dipstick will be removed with the hitch plate. 9 SECTION III. INSTALLATION This section contains instructions for installing the 3 Point Hitch Attachment. The figure graphics supporting the instructions show the hydraulic components being installed in the auxiliary valve #1 position behind the standard equipment center lift valve of the tractor. IF THE OPTIONAL FRONT HITCH ATTACHMENT IS TO BE INSTALLED, IT SHOULD BE INSTALLED IN THE AUXILIARY VALVE #1 POSITION, ANDTHE THREE POINT HITCH COMPONENTS THEN INSTALLED IN THE AUXILIARY VALVE #2 POSITION (SEE FIGURE 13) BEHIND THE FRONT HITCH VALVE. The parts needed for installation in either position are provided with this kit, and the instructions will note the appropriate parts to be used for each application. 1. Mfg. Code 1D178G20022 and Before. Secure the T fitting to avoid damaging the hydraulic lines and loosen the coupling nut. Then remove the hex screw and valve clamp to remove the standard hydro return tube (See Figure 13). Retain the valve clamp and screw. REAR VALVE MTG. BRACKET HEX SCREW VALVE CLAMP HYDRAULIC VALVE A. INSTALL THE HYDRAULIC VALVE. WARNING Allow the tractor to cool if recently operated. AUX. VALVE #2 POSITION AUX. VALVE #1 POSITION HEX SCREW &LOCKNUT T FITTING COUPLING NUT HYDRO RETURN TUBE CAUTION Position a suitable container to catch any oil leakage that may occur when disconnecting the hydraullic lines. Obey all applicable laws for disposal of oil. Early production tractors were built with a standard O-ring and a backup O-ring on the hydraulic lines, at their connections to the hydraulic valve. When disconnecting the hydraulic lines, make certain to note whether there are one or two O-rings at each connection (O-rings may stick in valve bores). Extra backup O-rings have been provided with this kit for use to ensure tight connections at the hydraulic valves. Tractors built after Mfg. Code 1D178G20023 are equipped with a flexible hose instead of the hard hydro return tube (See Figure 13). If equipped with the flexible hose, skip step 1 and refer to step 2 Figure Mfg. Code 1D178G20023 and After. Remove the hex screw and valve clamp to disconnect the hydro return hose from the valve (See Figure 14). Remove the O-Ring and backup ring (if applicable) from the end of the hose. Retain the valve clamp and screw. HEX LOCK NUTS HEX SCREW AND LOCK NUT REAR VALVE MTG. 10 3. Remove the hex cap screw and lock nut fastening the rear valve mtg. bracket to the tractor frame (See Figure 13 or 14). Retain the fasteners. 4. Remove the two hex screws and lock nuts securing the hydraulic valve(s) between the front (not shown) and rear valve mtg. brackets (See Figure 13 or 14). Remove and retain the rear mtg. bracket. 5. Only if auxiliary valve #1 is already installed. Remove the inner two hex screws and lock nuts fastening the two valves together. Tractors built prior to Mfg. Code 1H018G have the standard center lift hydraulic lines routed to the outside of the frame, while those built on or after that date code have the lines routed inside the frame. Therefore, your tractor may appear different from the figure graphics included with the following instructions. 6. Slide a backup O-Ring (Q) and O-ring (O) onto each end of the valve adapter (21), and insert the valve adapter into the rear port of the rearmost installed valve (standard center lift valve or auxiliary valve #1). See Figure Slide a nylon flange bearing (16), flange first, onto the longer arm of the lift link (18). Using care to avoid damage to the bearing, insert the lift link and bearing into the front most available hole of the tractor frame (See Figure 15). CAUTION The spool of the hydraulic valve assembly (20) must be correctly positioned in the valve body to ensure proper operation of the valve. The arrow on top of the spool must point in the direction of the hydraulic system oil flow when the valve is installed. 8. Referring to Figure 16, check the position of the spool in the hydraulic valve assembly (20). With the outlet ports of the valve body facing inward, the arrow should point toward the rear. Align the front port of the hydraulic valve (20) with the valve adapter (21), and the notch of the valve spool with the slot of the lift link (18); then slide the hydraulic valve into position behind the installed valve (See Figure 17). Insert two of the appropriate hex cap screws (D, aux. valve #1 or E, aux. valve #2) through the inner holes of the valves and loosely fasten with two hex lock nuts (J). : the lower/inside screw should be inserted from the rearward side of the valve for ease of installation (See Figure 18). 11. Position the rear valve mtg. bracket and insert the remaining two hex cap screws (D or E) through the front valve mtg. bracket, the valves, and the rear mtg. bracket (See Figure 18). Loosely fasten with the two remaining hex lock nuts (J). LIFT VALVE BRACKET NYLON FLANGE BEARING HEX CAP SCREW REAR VALVE MTG. Align the rear mtg. bracket hole with either the slot at the bottom/front of the frame opening (aux. valve #1) or the hole in the frame (aux. valve #2) and loosely install the previously removed hex screw and lock nut (See Figure 18). 13. In an alternating pattern, tighten the four hex cap screws and lock nuts fastening the valves together. Then tighten the hex screw and lock nut to secure to the frame (See Figure 18). 14. Slide a nylon flange bearing (16), flange first, onto the lift link (18). 15. Slide the lift valve bracket (19) onto the flange bearing and lift link, and secure to the hydraulic valve with two hex cap screws (B). See Figure 19. Steps 16 thru 18 apply only to tractors built before Mfg. Code 1D178G20023 that are equipped with a hard hydro return tube. If equipped with a flexible return hose, refer to step Mfg. Code 1D178G20022 and Before. Select the hydro return tube (23, for aux. valve #1 or 24, for aux. valve #2) that is applicable for the position of the new valve. Slide a backup O-ring (Q) against the flange on the hydro return tube (23 or 24) and install an O-Ring (O) onto the tube. Insert the hydro return tube into the rear port of the new valve, while aligning the flanged end of the tube with the tapered end of the hydraulic T fitting (See Figure 20). Thread the return tube coupling nut onto the T fitting finger tight. 17. Install the previously removed valve clamp and hex screw to secure the return tube in the hydraulic valve(seefigure21). 18. Support the T fitting to avoid twisting and damaging the hydraulic lines, then fully tighten the coupling nut. 11

12 HYDRO RETURN TUBE (AUX. VALVE #1) BACKUP O-RING O-RING B. INSTALL THE HYDRAULIC LIFT CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. 1. Slide a flat washer (P) onto the theaded end of both link clevis pins (25). 2. Install the hitch brace assembly (11) on the tractor as follows: Figure 20 When connecting the hydro return hose to the valve in the following step 19, make certain the hose is routed in a position where it does not block the outlet ports of the valve. 19. Mfg. Code 1D178G20023 and After. Install a backup O-ring (Q) and O-ring (O) against the flange of the hydro return hose. Insert the hydro return hose into the rear port of the new valve and secure with the previously removed valve clamp and hex screw (See Figure 21). HEX SCREW COUPLING NUT HYDRAULIC T FITTING VALVE CLAMP a. With its cylinder mounting bracket toward the right, slide the hitch brace assembly (11) up between the tractor frame channels. Align the two side holes with the holes in the frame. b. Insert the two link clevis pins (with washers) through the frame and hitch brace (See Figure 22). c. Secure the link clevis pins with the hex lock nuts (H, See Figure 22). Tighten the lock nuts until snug, but not tight. d. Temporarily position the hitch plate on the tractor frame so that its mounting holes align with the holes in the frame. e. Align the hole in the cylinder mounting bracket ofthehitchbrace(refertofigure22)withthe hole in the hitch plate. Temporarily insert a hex cap screw (A) to aid in maintaining hitch brace alignment. f. Holding the hitch brace assembly in this position, fully tighten the hex lock nuts (H) on the link clevis pins (25). Remove the hex cap screw and hitch plate. 13 3. Install the cylinder assembly (1) in the mounting bracket of the hitch brace and secure with the clevis pin (L) and an internal cotter pin (K). See Figure 23. CLEVIS PIN STRAIGHT HOSE END Z FORMED HOSE END DOUBLE VALVE CLAMP HEX CAP SCREW INTERNAL COTTER PIN CYLINDER ASSEMBLY Figure Route the cylinder hoses up over the top of the transmission and place a backup O-Ring (Q) and an O-Ring (O) onto each hose end. 5. Insert the Z formed hose end into the lower outlet port and the straight hose end into the upper port of the hydraulic valve (See Figure 24). CAUTION Figure 24 C. INSTALL THE HITCH COMPONENTS. The hitch plate, hitch bracket, rockshaft and rockshaft brackets may have been factory preassembled (10). If so, skip the following steps 1 through 3 and go to step Install the hitch bracket (7) on the rear hitch plate (9) of the tractor using two hex cap screws (A) and hex flange lock nuts (F). See Figure 25. HITCH PLATE HITCH BRACKET The double valve clamp has rounded edges on one side and flat edges on the other. Always place the flat edged side toward the hydraulic valve when installing the clamp. 6. With its flat surface toward the valve, position the double valve clamp (22) between the hose ends andsecurewithahexcapscrew(b).seefigure 24. 14 2. Lubricate the ends of the rockshaft assembly (6) with Cub Cadet 251H EP grease (or equivalent), then slide a rockshaft bracket (8) onto each end of the rockshaft as shown in Figure 26. ROCKSHAFT ASSEMBLY 7. Install the hitch plate assembly (10) as follows: a. While guiding the lift cylinder through the plate opening, position the rear hitch plate assembly onthetractorframe(seefigure28).notethe slotted bracket of the cylinder piston must be between the lift cylinder arms of the rockshaft. LIFT CYLINDER ARMS ALIGN HOLES ROCKSHAFT BRACKETS APPLY LUBRICANT Figure With the lift cylinder arms positioned toward the right, install the rockshaft and bracket asssembly on the hitch plate using four hex cap screws (A) and flange lock nuts (F). Secure the hitch plate to the frame with the four previously removed hex cap screws and flange lock nuts. c. Units with Mfg. Code 1J158G and after. Secure the hitch plate to the frame with the four previously removed hex wash. hd. tapp screws. 8. Fasten the slotted bracket of the cylinder piston to the lift cylinder arms using the clevis pin (N) and an internal cotter pin (K). See Figure 29. OIL FILL TUBE DIPSTICK Figure Clean the area around dipstick tube hole of the transmission to prevent any dirt or debris from entering the transmission. Remove any plug or cover. 5. Making sure the tail light wires are above the tank, slide the fuel tank into the tractor frame. Connect the wire harness lead to the low fuel sensor and connect the fuel line to the tank fitting (Refer to Figure 12 if necessary). 6. Remove the dipstick and carefully unsnap the oil fill tube from the old hitch plate. CLEVIS PIN INTERNAL COTTER PIN Figure 29 HEX CAP SCREW & FLANGE LOCK NUT (NOT SHOWN) 14

Secure the hitch brace assembly (11) to the hitch plate with the hex cap screw (A) and flange lock nut(f).seefigure Insert the oil fill tube through the hitch plate, into the rubber grommet of the transmission, and snap in position in the hitch plate. Insert the dipstick (See Figure 29). OUTER LIFT ARMS INTERNAL COTTER PINS The hooks (29) and hex lock nuts (G) may have been preassembled on the LH and RH lower links at the factory. If so, skip the following steps 11 and 12 and go to step Thread a hex lock nut (G) up on the threads of each hook (29). 12. Insert the hooks, from the inside, through the rearmost hole in the LH and RH lower links (27 and 28). Secure with the two remaining hex lock nuts (G). Refer to Figure Apply a light coating of grease on the pin surface of both link clevis pins (25). For purpose of identification, the form (bends) of the lower links should angle outward with the welded hooks on the top/forward end. LH LOWER LINK ASS Y. In a crossing pattern, hook the chains (26) to the hooks of the lower link assemblies (See Figure 31). 14. Slide the forward end of RH lower link ass y. (28) onto the right link clevis pin and secure with an internal cotter pin (K). Repeat for the LH lower link ass y. (27). See Figure Screw the two adjustment links (12) into the ferrules of the RH and LH lower link assemblies until approximately one inch of threads show below the ferrules. 16. Raise the RH lower link (w/adjustment link) to position the adjustment link between the outer lift arms on the right end of the rock shaft assembly (6). Insert a clevis pin (M) and secure with an internal cotter pin (K). See Figure Raise the LH lower link (w/adjustment link) to position the adjustment link between the outer lift arms on the left end of the rock shaft assembly (6). Insert a clevis pin (M) and secure with an internal cotter pin (K). Refer to Figure 31. CHAINS Figure 31 15

16 Tractors built on or after Mfg. Code 1H029G have a brake rotor mounted on the right side of the transmission. When installing the pump bypass rod, care must be taken to avoid interference with the brake mechanism. 19. Insert the new hydro bypass rod (30) through the key hole in the rear hitch plate (See Figure 32). If applicable (Mfg. Code 1H029G and above), guide the rod around the right side of the brake rotor, and over to the bypass spring plate. 17 D. REASSEMBLE TRACTOR AND INSTALL VALVE HANDLE. To ease installation of the fender/running board assembly, do not install the new valve handle (14 or 15) until after the fender has been installed. 1. Remove the cap from the fuel tank. Make certain the tail lights and wires are draped over the top of the fuel tank, and the seat switch wire lead is inside the tractor frame (See Figure 35). With the help of an assistant, install the fender/ running board assembly as follows: Lower the front of the running board into position above the frame. Guide the lift handle(s) through the slot(s) as you lower the rear fender. Route the tail light wires along the upper/rear of the fuel tank and position the rear fender so the tail light reflector housings clear the fuel tank, then lower the fender over the fill neck of the fuel tank. Do not damage the reflector housings by forcing the fenders into place. Replace the fuel cap. Press the front of the running board onto the mounting brackets on each side of the frame. 3. Using care to avoid dislodging the bulbs from the sockets, install the tail light sockets in the reflector housings as follows: Reverse Lights - Install the light sockets having a WHITE wire in the inner hole of the housings. Tail Lights - Install the remaining two light sockets in the outer holes of the housings. 4. Fasten the middle of the running boards to the frame brackets with the two hex screws. Reinstall the RH and LH foot pads by pulling the locking projections through the running board and fender. Refer to Figure Align the bulkhead and running board with the frame mounting brackets and secure with the two hex screws removed earlier. Refer to Figure Align the four tabs of the dash screen with the slots in the bulkhead, then slide the screen forward beneath the dash panel while guiding the tabs under the four wing nuts. Tighten the wing nuts to secure the screen. Refer to Figure 7. : The following step 7 applies only to tractors equipped with the Diff- Lock feature. 7. Insert the diff- lock pedal down through the left running board. Slide the pedal w/bearing onto the pivot shaft and install the previously removed retaining ring. Align the pedal with the engagement bracket and secure with the hex wash. hd. tapp screw. Refer to Figure Install the pedals in the right running board as follows (Refer to Figure 5): a. Insert the brake pedal through the running board and align with the brake lever beneath therightrunningboard.securewiththetwo longer hex wash. hd. tapp screws. b. Slide the forward control pedal (arrow on pedal points forward) through the running board. Insert the pedal tab in the slot of the control lever and secure with the hex wash. hd. tapp screw. c. Slide the reverse control pedal (arrow on pedal points rearward) through the running board. Insert the pedal tab in the slot of the reverse shaft and secure with the hex wash. hd. tapp screw. 9. Lay the seat assembly on its side on top of the fender and plug the wire harness connector onto the seat switch. Refer to Figure Carefully position the seat assembly on the fender. Align the rear slide channel holes and fender holes with the mounting holes of the frame. Fasten with two torx head (or socket head) screws. 11. Slide the seat rearward, align the front holes and fasten with the remaining two torx head (or socket head) screws. 12. From under the left fender, note the direction of the hex cap screw and lock nut in the existing handle clamp (See Figure 36). 17

Holding the clamp on the lift link, slide the handle into, or out of, the clamp as necessary to align with the center of the slot. Tighten the hex cap screw and insert lock nut. STANDARD LIFT HANDLE Figure 36 HANDLE CLAMP 13. In the same direction as the existing clamp(s), install the hex cap screw (C) and hex insert lock nut (I) in the handle clamp (17). Do not tighten the fasteners completely. 14. With the notch of the clamp facing forward, insert the appropriate handle (15, aux. valve #1 or 14, aux. valve #2) into the upper hole from the left side of the clamp (See Figure 36). LIFT HANDLE FLAP 18. Install the left rear wheel on the axle. In an alternating pattern, torque the lug nuts to 60 ft. lbs. 19. Jack the rear of the tractor up to remove the jack stands, then lower to the ground. 20. Install the side panels and close the hood per the instructions in the tractor Operator s Manual. 21. Engage the parking brake and start the tractor. 22. Actuating the newly installed lift handle fully in both directions, completely cycle the hydraulic lift system several times. This will prime the system and force any air from it. 23. Stop the engine. 24. Remove the dipstick and check the transmission oil level. Add sufficient oil to the transmission to bring the oil level to the full mark on the dipstick. DO NOT OVERFILL. USE ONLY THE OIL SPECIFIED BY THE TRACTOR OPERATOR S MANUAL. E. USAGE AND MAINTENANCE. 1. Refer to the specific attachment Operator s Manual for instructions on installing the attachment and adjusting the three point hitch. : If the upper link assembly (13) is used, always adjust the link so that it is parallel to the lower links. Remove the cover plate from the appropriate slot (inner, aux. valve #1 or outer, aux. valve #2) of the lift lever cover on the left fender (See Figure 37). : It may be necessary to cut the connecting edges of the cover plate. If so, use caution to avoid cutting the lift handle flap underneath the plate. 2. After every ten hours of use, lubricate the rockshaft by applying 251H EP grease (or equivalent No. 2 multi-purpose lithium grease) through the lube fittings at each end of the shaft. Apply sufficient grease to flush out old grease and dirt. 18
