4 Hydrostatic Steering In addition to providing smooth steering, hydrostatic power steering helps eliminate steering wheel kickback. Its hydraulic fluid system uses fewer parts with no mechanical linkages to deliver smooth, reliable performance. In the steer axle, self-aligning king pins are supported by tapered roller bearings that help reduce maintenance needs and wear which leads to steering drift. A priority valve helps ensure the needed flow of oil to the steering pump, providing the operator with positive steering control under a wide range of lift and tilt operations. Additionally, a heavy-duty, fabricated steer axle is designed to protect the steering cylinder from debris. 4

5 Smooth Braking Hydraulically actuated, vacuum-boosted service brakes provide efficient braking with minimal foot pedal pressure. An open floor area and spacious three-pedal layout facilitate driving and braking. Operators will also appreciate the convenience of cowl-mounted hydraulic controls. One- And Two-Speed Powershift Transmissions A single-speed powershift transmission with torque converter is standard on all 8,000-10,000 lb. capacity models, although an optional two-speed transmission is available for higher travel speeds and longer-run applications. Both transmissions feature an inching valve for smoother, more precise load positioning at slower speeds. The two-speed, automatic powershift transmission with torque converter is standard on 11,000 lb. capacity models and has two forward and two reverse speeds for flexible performance and increased fuel economy. A toggle switch locks the transmission in low speed for applications requiring sustained high torque at low speeds. 5Reliability

6 Noise And Vibration Suppressors For a more productive operator environment, sound and vibration suppressors are used throughout the forklift truck. These include a sound barrier below the seat, a rubber-mounted steering console, vibration-absorbing engine mounts, a silent-running nylon cooling fan, and a double-walled, glass-insulated muffler. Powerful, Efficient Gas Engine The rugged TBAS In-Line 6-cylinder engine provides high-torque output at low engine rpm. Engine coolant regulates intake manifold temperature for optimum fuel efficiency. A pusher fan teams up with a corrugated fin radiator a combination that helps maintain effective cooling of the engine. With strategically positioned controls and hydrostatic steering, the operator s compartment is designed to help increase productivity. 6

7 Reliable, Smooth-Running Diesel Engine With the largest displacement in its class, the Mitsubishi S6S diesel engine delivers full-rated horsepower at only 2450 rpm. Its seven-main-bearing design adds strength and reliability. A distributor-type fuel injection pump helps improve power while reducing noise, and a proven precombustion chamber design helps ensure peak combustion efficiency for greater low-speed power, 7Productivity

8 Open Mast Design Good visibility in the Mitsubishi forklift truck is achieved with narrow mast channel flanges as viewed from the operator s perspective. Channel webs are deep to provide needed strength, while sturdy cross-members provide torsional rigidity. On Triplex masts, the chain and hose routings are positioned behind the mast channels. Square fork bars enhance visibility through the carriage. Seat Design Permits Faster Engine Access The specially designed seat helps make engine access easy. Just release one pin and the seat back folds forward. A manual latch releases the engine cover and seat assembly, which are raised and held in an upright position by two gas-assist cylinders. Improved Serviceability Routine inspection and maintenance can be performed easily because the entire engine compartment is quickly accessible. No tools are needed to remove the floor plate or covers. 8

9 Primary Lift Cylinder The primary lift cylinder is equipped with a special piston design which hydraulically cushions the transition of the mast when it is lowered into the free-lift phase. This means the mast is lowered smoothly, helping to eliminate loud and abrupt clunk experiences. For reliability, each lift cylinder has an internal drain which reduces the chance of oil leaks associated with an external drain line. 9Productivity

10 Easy-Access Step Operators entering and exiting the forklift truck will find an open-step frame and a conveniently positioned grab bar. Anti-slip, steel step plates provide operators with a sure-footed surface and can be removed for cleaning. Adjustable Tilt Steering Wheel Operators can select preferred steering wheel positions by adjusting the spring-assisted steering column. The column is capable of being adjusted across five full inches of variable settings, and there are no limiting factory presets. Easy-To-Read Instrument Panel Mounted on the steering column, the instrument panel provides operators with an easy way to monitor select engine functions. Gauges for monitoring engine coolant temperature, hour meter, and fuel level are included. Warning indicator lights advise operators about potential concerns with transmission oil temperature, brake fluid level, engine oil pressure, and alternator charging. Comfort-Stretch Seat Belt The seat belt design features a resilient section that gives operators an extra measure of freedom when they must shift their body repeatedly when engaging in reverse travel. It is a standard feature in the Mitsubishi forklift comfort package. 10

11 Operator Putting Comfort In The Operator s Seat The specially designed operator s seat delivers lasting comfort. A molded seat back lip provides extra leverage to relieve arm and body stress when traveling in reverse. The bottom seat cushion is bolstered at the sides for thigh support and the back cushion provides essential lumbar support. The two-piece seat design allows for the future change-out of either the seat or the seat back cushion. This keeps you from having to replace the entire seat assembly down the road. The seat back folds forward by releasing a spring-loaded pin, providing easy access to the engine compartment. 11
