The Environmenal Impac Saemen (EIS), leased on 27 November 2015, includes informaion on permanen infrasrucu and consrucion aciviies around Arncliffe. The New M5 will: duce raffic on he M5 Eas, improving ravel speeds for heavy vehicles ravelling o and from Sydney Airpor and Por Boany This sie was seleced as i: is owned by Rockdale Ciy Council and Roads and Mariime Services and has been formally earmarked for use during fuu road projecs like WesConnex have unnels ha a aller, wider and no as seep as he exising M5 Eas, suling in a smooher ride for mooriss and ducing emissions have efficien and modern venilaion sysems which me air qualiy sandards in he unnels and surrounding suburbs cae around 14 kiloms of new and upgraded shad, pedesrian and cycle pahs have no impac on Wolli Cek bushland and Tempe Reserve. Aciviies in Arncliffe A consrucion sie for he New M5 will be locaed on governmen-owned land curnly occupied by he Kogarah Golf Course. WesConnex is working wih he Kogarah Golf Club o enable he club o operae a nine-hole golf course during consrucion and ensu he financial viabiliy of he club over his period. Once consrucion is compled, he land no quid for operaional faciliies will be mediaed and rurned o Rockdale Ciy Council.

2 New M5 Arncliffe Moorway Operaions Complex The New M5 moorway will be suppod by permanen operaional faciliies a he sie of he Kogarah Golf Course, Arncliffe, near he M5 Eas and Marsh S inersecion. The Moorways operaions complex will include: a venilaion faciliy an emergency smoke exracion faciliy subsaion power supply on-sie saff car parking a waer amen faciliy. See Chaper 5 of he EIS for mo informaion. Venilaion faciliy The Arncliffe venilaion faciliy has been designed o achieve some of he mos sringen sandards in he world and will be effecive a mainaining local air qualiy. The venilaion and operaional faciliies a Arncliffe will be near he fligh pah used for he main norh souh runway a Sydney Airpor. As a sul, he faciliies have been designed o ake ino accoun exra quimens o saisfy he Airpors (Proecion of Airspace) Regulaions 1996 (Commonwealh) and Airpors Ac 1996 (Commonwealh), including: he speed and heigh (velociy) of he air being leased from he venilaion faciliies he heigh of operaional srucus he use of lighs and heir luminosiy. The Civil Aviaion Safy Auhoriy has been consuled abou he design, which is also subjec o he approval of he Secrary of he Deparmen of Infrasrucu and Regional Developmen. See Chapers 10 and 14 of he EIS for mo informaion. Waer amen faciliy The Arncliffe Moorway operaions complex will include he New M5 operaional waer amen faciliy. Ground waer colleced around he unnels will be pumped o he waer amen plan whe i will be aed o he qualiy quid by Sydney Waer and he Environmen Proecion Auhoriy befo being leased ino he Cooks River. The Arncliffe waer amen plan will also a consrucion wase waer. Minimising communiy impac The New M5 has been designed o duce impacs on local communiies. To duce noise and visual impacs o he Arncliffe communiy during consrucion: noise barriers will be insalled along he consrucion sie boundaries acousic sheds will be insalled over he unnel shaf and spoil sockpile aas rucks will follow designaed roues o and from sie. Minimising environmenal impac As par of he original M5 Eas projec, opened in 2001, Roads and Mariime Services provided beding ponds for he Gen and Golden Bell Frog. Locaed in he souh wesern corner of he Kogarah Golf Course, hese ponds have been successfully managed for mo han a decade. Consrucion for he New M5 will avoid hese beding ponds and mainain foraging land for he frogs. A specific managemen plan will also be ppad befo consrucion which proposes he exra proecion and new and enhanced habia for he frog colony. A Flora and Fauna Managemen Plan will be ppad dailing he miigaion measus ha will be implemened during consrucion o proec he aa s plans and wildlife. See Chaper 21 of he EIS for mo informaion. 5 New M5 Arncliffe Fac she November 2015 Hours of work Above ground consrucion Above ground consrucion work will generally be carried ou from: 7:00am o 6:00pm Monday o Friday 8:00am o 1:00pm Saurday generally, he will be no work on Sundays or public holidays. For safy and operaional asons, some work on he M5 Eas moorway and local roads will occur ou of hours. Ou of hours work will be conduced in accordance wih condiions of approval and Environmen Proecion licences. Tunnelling work Tunnelling work and suppor aciviies, including ransporing excavaed maerial, will ake place up o 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
