SEE INFORMATION Choice of Four End Treatments Overhead Cranes / Jibs With a soft, pliable and non-abrasive polyester webbing, our Truck Tie Down Assemblies are ideal straps for securing cargo on flatbed trucks and trailers. They re lighter and easier to handle than chain load binders, and stronger and more durable than elastic tension bands. They also adjust easily in length to fit the size of load you re hauling. 19 Securement General Warnings IMPORTANT please read! Definitions of basic terms used throughout this section: Breaking strength capacity maximum load a component or assembly will withstand before failure, measured in pounds (lbs). A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. In any given assembly, the component with the lowest breaking strength capacity will probably fail first. For example, a standard web binder assembly with a breaking strength capacity of 12,000 anchored to a device with a breaking strength capacity of 5,000 will fail at 5,000 It is important that tie downs be attached to components that are of sufficient strength to properly secure the load. We can help you determine the right components to optimize your assembly performance. Working load capacity as the name implies, this refers to the maximum working load a component or assembly should be subjected to during use. For your safety, working load capacity equivalent to no more than one-third (1/3) the breaking strength capacity of the component or assembly. Rated load capacity these are industry or legislative standards and may vary from industry to industry or state to state, respectively. For example, the 1987 California Highway Patrol rating for flatbed tie downs is established at 70% of the breaking strength capacity of web binders, or 80% of the breaking strength capacity or force required to cause permanent distortion of component hardware, whichever is less. It is the owner s and user s responsibility to determine suitability of a product for any particular use. Check all applicable industry, trade association, federal, state and local regulations. Read all operating instructions and warnings carefully. are subject to age, wear and deterioration, which may cause a reduction in their breaking strength capacity. We recommend that all products be regularly inspected and any worn, deformed, misused or overloaded products should be replaced immediately.
