4 WATER-BASED CORROSION PREVENTIVE PRODUCTS T3344 Zero VOC, Waterborne Undercoating Applications: OEM & Transportation Formulated to provide excellent adhesion, hardness and durability to most substrates including primers, e-coat and oily steel. Designed to resist chipping, scratches and gravel marks normally seen on truck and trailer underbodies. A zero VOC, air-dry, waterborne corrosion preventive coating for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Can be recoated with most urethane, acrylic or alkyd resin formulated automotive topcoats. Meets Vibration Damping Properties as per SAE J-1637 T4033 Waterborne Self Healing Undercoating Applications: OEM & Transportation A waterborne, thixotropic, black corrosion preventive compound. The dry film is waxy and non-tacky. Provides excellent weathering and corrosion protection for industrial applications including various forms of wood flooring. Recommended for use in the transportation industry as an undercoating for metal and wood surfaces. C-2020A WB UNDERCOATING Applications: OEM, Transportation, Automotive Formulated for the undercarriage area for passengervehicles, trucks, trailers, chassis frames and recreational vehicles. A waterborne asphalt emulsion coating that provides excellent corrosion protection. The film is firm when cured and provides for long-term road abrasion protection and sound dampening features as well. Offers all the performance features of solvent based products and with the added benefits of very low V.O.C. emissions and a high flash point allowing application where solvent borne products cannot be applied. Very low V.O.C. emissions and below Federal, Provincial and U.S.A. EnvironmentalProtection Agencies acceptable levels. No offensive odour

5 CORROSION PREVENTIVE PRODUCTS T185GW BLACK/GRAY Pigmented Undercoating Applications: OEM & Transportation A solvent cutback, thixotropic, corrosion preventive compound. The dry film is semi-firm and has a semi-gloss appearance. Provides outstanding protection in marine, tropical, and industrial environments, and is widely used for transportation equipment. Possesses dielectric strength of 800 volts per dry mil of coating. Provides galvanic corrosion protection and can be applied on battery terminals for insulating purposes. T5164 Undercoating Applications: OEM, Transportation A firm film undercoating material formulated to provide corrosion protection, sound deadening and moisture sealing properties to the underside of highway trailers, bus bodies and automotive vehicles. C-2020A UNDERCOATING Applications: OEM, Transportation, Automotive Specifically formulated to protect metal against corrosion from weather or road splash containing salt and other corrosion chemicals. Excellent salt spray resistance with low temperature flexibility. Meets the stringent requirements of the auto motive rust protection program. The Benefits Add Up As an added benefit, the chemical additive improved the pumpability of the product, allowing the material to be filled in 330-gallon totes. Working alongside Collins maintenance, plant and engineering groups, we came up with a newly designed application system with the 330-gallon tote outside the spray area. This feature greatly reduced changeover time and increased productivity as a direct result. In fact, the overall solution eliminated the complications of clean up and was a factor in the company s recognition as a national model for workplace safety and health by the Kansas Department of Labor and OSHA. Challenges = Opportunities This manufacturer of Type-A buses for the school and childcare markets had been experiencing housekeeping and changeover challenges in its undercoating process. Overspray was drifting out of the spray booth and into the plant. In addition to the potential hazard to plant personnel, the overspray fell onto finished buses resulting in additional cleaning. Plus, as each 55-gallon drum of undercoating was depleted, production was delayed for 30 minutes during changeover to a new drum. Daubert first examined the overspray situation and reformulated the undercoating product. The result became Tectyl 6430, a water-based asphaltic coating with a chemical additive that reduces product drag. The outcome is improved atomization at the spray gun tip, reducing the overspray of the product.
