3 Over the last several years, the oil and gas exploration and production industry has seen a shift towards the exploitation of resources from unconventional sources such as shale, tight formations and other sources requiring horizontal drilling. A large part of this shift is towards increasing safety, reducing personnel on the rig, reducing costs in any way possible such as through drilling multiple wells from a single location. At the same time, operators are required to meet safety targets and environmental regulations in a cost constrained and competitive environment. To meet today s demand for faster and more flexible operations in unconventional environments, Huisman has taken lessons learned from operating their LOC series of land rigs and through discussions and interviews with operators and contractors. This resulted in a new series of highly mobile rigs, including a 150t trailer mounted rig. It s safe, fast, reliable, and easy to move: the HM 150. Q F K C

4 M MT DRILLING RIG HM 150 The HM 150 is a highly mobile trailer mounted drilling rig designed to move quickly between multiple wells on a pad, and between different locations. SAFETY All equipment can be controlled from the integrated controls in the driller s cabin, minimizing the need for people on the drill floor during regular operations. The high degree of automation includes a zone management system and safety interlocks which reduces the risk of a clash back to an absolute minimum. Hands-off pipe handling further improves the overall safety of the rig. The rig can also be delivered with the option to handle drill pipe, trip, and run casing fully automatically. IMPROVED RIG PERFORMANCE The integrated auto-driller is used to keep a constant Weight on Bit, constant differential standpipe pressure, or on constant ROP. Combined with the accurate AC controlled drawworks, it improves the drilling performance. The drilling unit can be equipped with a double drum drawworks. The two drums provide redundancy by its design. Using the double drum drawworks, slip-andcut operations are not required which reduces the nonproductive time. The rig can handle both drill pipe and casing in similar fashion, and can be equipped with casing running tools and torque turn software to eliminate the need for separate casing running service which reduces time one well, safety risks, and the overall well costs. The rig is ready for Enhanced Casing Installation, which allows drilling with casing for vertical and lateral sections. Huisman has developed several cost effective down hole tools to be able to further reduce the costs per well. With a push on a button the reeving can be switched between 4 or 8 falls, which doubles the block speed at reduced loads. To be able to handle tubulars remotely from the cabin, the rotary table is equipped with Huisman power slips, which allow hanging off drill pipe and casing (with no load required to hold casing). The integrated one-size-fits-all pipe handler is capable of bringing drill pipe, collars and casing from the horizontal pipe racks directly to well center. H 4
