Platform body equipped with optional solid bulkhead, ICC bumper and underbox The tough yet versatile Reading platform body is built to handle whatever your job requires. From the fully undercoated and reinforced steel understructure to your choice of side options, every inch of a Reading platform body means business. Acrylic E-coat Priming Reading platforms are immersion primed using this 12-stage process which thoroughly cleans, rinses, and finally primes the steel: First, the platforms proceed through a series of tanks filled with chemical agents which clean the steel. Next, they are thoroughly rinsed free of contaminants. Finally, they are immersed in a tank of electrified primer. High voltage currents literally fuse the paint to every square inch of the steel, even the most hidden or recessed areas. The primer is cured by baking the platforms in high temperature ovens. Benefit: The acrylic e-coat process coats every inch of the steel with a uniform coat of primer. It is the best protection available against rust and corrosion. Top Coat Reading platforms are top coated with a two-component, high gloss black urethane paint. The paint is sprayed on using a sophisticated computer controlled mixing system. Benefit: The mixing system ensures precise coverage for proper coating performance and a high gloss, durable shine. 2

Reinforced Steel Girder Understructure Two full-length longitudinal sills of formed steel on regular models and structural steel on heavy-duty models and extra heavy-duty models Reinforced front to rear on both sides with multiple gussets Longitudinals and full-width heavy gauge cross members are interlocked and arc welded to the one-piece steel side and end rails*. Undercoated Understructure Understructure of platforms are covered with a tough oil-based undercoating which meets all environmental regulations Benefit: An additional layer of rust protection *Note: All factory installed longitudinal sills are located for wide frames. 4 side option packages Stake Bodies Lengths available: -2 platforms Rack heights: 0 for platforms 2 for all other sizes Steel Stake Racks Posts are die formed, and steel slats are roll formed and die crimped Posts are arc welded to slats to form steel stake racks Stake racks for regular and heavy-duty platforms are made with 1-gauge steel posts and 1-gauge steel slats. Extra heavy duty and outside stake pocket platforms have racks made with 12-gauge steel posts and 16-gauge steel slats Each stake rack is reinforced at its base for extra strength at, and above, the floor line Regular duty platforms have 0 high racks with three horizontal slats. All other platforms have 2 high racks with four horizontal slats. All racks are spaced on 2 centers. Stake racks feature acrylic e-coat immersion priming for protection against rust and corrosion Available in black, white, or prime paint. Wood slats are also available in 1 x6 (nominal) dense southern yellow pine with a clear finish or black enamel If factory-finished in black or white, the stake racks feature a powder coat topcoat. In this process electrically charged paint powder is applied to the racks. The racks then move through a baking oven which melts the powder and provides a smooth, glossy, chip-resistant finish. Benefit: Reading racks provide safe, secure support for your load. They are built without compromise, and feature the best protection available against rust, corrosion, and the rigors of daily use. Quick Release Latches: A spring-loaded latch on one post of each rack holds it firmly in the stake pocket. To remove rack, simply trip the latch and lift the rack. All racks lift out individually for easier loading and unloading. Each rack section is secured to the adjoining section by a sturdy quick release gate latch. Both packages feature A-60 galvannealed steel construction and Reading s exclusive acrylic e-coat immersion priming. A black powder coat finish forms a tough, but attractive outer shell that further enhances the layers of protection already applied to the steel. Landscape sides and Redi-Racks are further protected by a three-year limited warranty. Landscape Sides Available in lengths from 9 to 1 ft., Reading s landscape sides feature a flexible bolt-together design (with stainless steel hardware) for easy installation of landscape sides to Reading s standard heavy duty platforms. They are available in lengths from 9 to 20 feet, with a choice of pressure-treated wood or steel floors. The removable contractor sides are constructed of 1 high 12 gauge steel. The solid bulkhead is standard with the contractor body. Optional window is available at additional cost. Platform-Toolbox Combination This versatile unit is a contractor body and equipment carrier in one. Tools and equipment are carried in lockable toolbox compartments, safe from weather and theft (See Reading Pickup Accessories brochure for specifications). The Redi-Dek features a permanently mounted slotted bulkhead, outside stake rack pockets, and tiedown rails. The rear of the body features a safety treadplate steel-covered reinforced apron. Cutouts in the apron allow for the easy remounting of the original chassis stop, tail and turn signal lights.
