Complying with 3 Points of Contact Most industries now require ladder users to use fall protection or to work in a guardrailenclosed platform or scaffold while working above ground. In many cases, operators find it difficult and even impossible to comply with these rules. Adjustable Safety Cage Meets the Standard The Adjustable Safety Cage s guardrail system and large stable working area prevent over-reaching and allow operators to work in full compliance without fall protection. The Cage s mobility and adjustability also make it quick and easy to move and adapt to each new task. The Cage is a much faster, more efficient, and cost-effective solution than a powered lift or scaffold system. TIE-OFF RULES

Climbing above the Highest Standing Level Standing on the top rung or top cap is one of the leading causes of stepladder accidents. This is one of the most common safety violations on job sites today. Working on uneven surfaces makes this violation even more dangerous. STANDING ON THE TOP RUNG OR TOP CAP No Top Rung No Access to the Top Cap The Little Giant SafeFrame stepladder deters operators from accessing the top cap. The SafeFrame also provides a comfortable standing rung that offers stable foot support at the proper standing level. The optional integrated Ratchet Levelers allow you to adjust to almost any uneven surface.

Torn Ligaments, Tendons and Herniated Disks Injuries to the neck, back, shoulders, knees and ankles account for the majority of ladder-related incidents and carry an average cost of $75,000. CARRYING LADDERS Wheels on a Ladder? Little Giant engineers its ladders to be the lightest industrial-grade ladders in the world. Little Giant's Tip & Glide Wheels eliminate the need to carry the ladder, reducing injuries.

Over-Reaching Causes the Worst Falls! It is human nature to over-reach rather than climb down and reset the ladder. Even a mild over-reach can shift the operator s weight outside a ladder s center of gravity, destabilizing the ladder. These kinds of falls from extension ladders are the leading cause of ladderrelated fatalities. Train and Protect Operators The Little Giant SumoStance features leveling outriggers that double the base footprint of the ladder. Testing has shown that the SumoStance outriggers increase the ladder s side-tip stability up to 600%. SIDE-TIP FALLS ON A LADDER

Twisting and Straddling on a Stepladder To get closer to their work, most operators turn the stepladder sideways and twist or straddle the ladder unsafely. This practice can result in operators pushing the ladder away from the work surface, which can cause a serious fall. FACING YOUR WORK ON A STEPLADDER Facing Your Work The Little Giant Select Step is one of several Little Giant safety products that can be used in the 90-degree position. This allows the operator to face the work surface with his feet on a solid rung and to apply force from a much more stable foundation.

Ladders and Uneven Ground Don t Mix Few, if any, job sites are perfectly level. To save time, operators often improvise leveling methods like bricks, boards, or rocks that are unstable and unsafe. On an ordinary 28-foot ladder, 1-inch out of level at the base puts you 19 inches off center at the top, putting the operator completely outside the footprint of the ladder. Even if he doesn t over-reach, it takes very little force to destabilize the ladder when you re that far off center. This kind of situation often leads to the most catastrophic falls. UNLEVEL GROUND Adjust the Ladder to Nearly Any Surface Leveling outriggers on each side provide the Little Giant SumoStance extension ladder with a full 7.5 of vertical adjustment in 3/8 inch increments for use on sloping or uneven ground. Built-in bubble levels help operators keep the rungs level and the ladder at the proper lean angle. Patented SumoStance outriggers double the ladder s base width, increasing side-tip stability by over 600%.

Stepping From Ladder to the Roof and Back The transition from an extension ladder to the roof and back can be extremely dangerous. Ordinary extension ladders are not designed to withstand lateral forces at the top. Ladder Tie-Off Walkthrough Systems Little Giant's LedgeLock roof mount attaches securely to a roof line or structure. The LedgeLock Claw attaches the top of the ladder securely to the mount, and the walkthrough rails allow the operator to step safely onto the roof. AUTO TIE-OFF SYSTEM TRANSITIONING FROM LADDER TO ROOF

Injuries Caused By Missing the Bottom Rung Up to 20 percent of stepladder-related injuries happen when a user misses the bottom step while descending a ladder, resulting in numerous injuries, such as sprained ankles, knee injuries and broken backs. MISSING THE BOTTOM RUNG Ground Cue Warning System The SafeFrame includes the patentpending Ground Cue, which gives the operator a tactile and audible signal that they have reached the bottom step Little Giant Ladder Systems 1198 North Spring Creek Place Springville, UT USA v3 4.16
