2 The Course Topics Will Consist of: The course will teach participants the behaviour of the individual components of heavy duty trucks and how they influence the overall dynamic behaviour of the truck system. The course will cover the following topics: Basic Properties of the Four Wheeled Vehicle Mechanics of the Pneumatic Tire Heavy Truck Suspensions: Mechanics & Kinematics Steering Systems: Geometry, Mechanical & Kinematicc Properties Braking Components, Systems and Performance Characteristics Vehicle Instrumentation and Data Sampling Procedures Vehicle/Roadway Interactions and Road Roughness Offtracking Linear Analysiss of Directional Response Non-Linear Analysis of Directional Response Rollover Ride Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Standards TruckSim Demonstrations, Performance-B Based Standards Who Should Attend This Course? Persons involved in the development of standards and regulations for vehicle equipment, vehicle safety, and vehicle weights and dimensions Persons involved in the design and manufacture of heavy duty trucks and/or truck components Persons involved in the prevention and investigation off heavy duty truck accidents Persons involved in the specification and selection of heavy duty truck equipment It is recommended that the participants have a degree in engineering or comparable experience in a field associated with heavy duty trucks and/or their components.
