3 The New Carver 44 Sojourn For more than fifty years Carver Yachts has earned a reputation for designing yachts with spacious and comfortable accommodations that are built to superior construction standards. Our NEW combines a roomy bridge together with a striking contemporary interior making this a perfect yacht for combining family, friends and time on the water. The 44 Sojourn is available with the Volvo IPS joystick controlled drive system for superior fuel efficiency and precise close quarter maneuverability. The hull and deck lines of the Carver 44 Sojourn are noticeably different than other yachts. The 44 Sojourn was created with a design directive that established exterior and interior accommodations and efficient utilization of space as high priorities. Nobody does this better than the designers at Carver. The sizable transom platform makes stepping onto and off of the yacht at dock side very secure. Facing aft on the transom is a storage compartment that can be outfitted with a unique and comfortably upholstered seat or this compartment can be used for fender, shore power cable and wash down hose storage. There is no step between the swim platform and cockpit. Your walk to the yacht s foredeck is safe and secure because the walkway is extra wide and the handrails are heavy duty 7/8 stainless steel with strong double welded bases. On the foredeck you ll find an upholstered, double-wide chaise lounge, easy to use automatic windlass and remote control spot light. The Carver 44 Sojourn has the most spacious bridge of any boat this size. There is bridge seating for at least 12 people so your guests will be able to enjoy the view from aloft while underway and at dock side. The bridge also has a large, comfortable sun lounge with an extraordinary view. Add the wet bar, refrigerator and grill and you have an environment that is unequaled in space and accommodations. The helm is designed to accommodate today s highly technical navigation and communication instruments and the heavy duty aluminum arch (other brands may use fiberglass or tubular metal to build their arches) and integral hardtop serve as support for the optional high quality bridge enclosure. Stepping inside the Carver 44 Sojourn you ll immediately notice that the salon and cabins are styled around a single-level floor plan with no steps to navigate or hamper ease of movement. The Sojourn is the most contemporary application of this distinctive design feature which Carver has spent years perfecting. The salon is spacious and brightly lit by the numerous windows and aft sliding door. For 2012, stylish Zatara oak hardwood is used throughout the yacht to provide a distinctive, contemporary atmosphere. To port is a sectional sofa lounge and to starboard a dinette that seats six and converts to a double bed. The galley is adjacent to the salon and is equipped with full size refrigerator, convection microwave, two burner cook top, coffee maker and numerous drawers and cabinets to stow provisions and cooking utensils. Situated forward of the galley are two staterooms and two head compartments. The master stateroom has a roomy island berth and the VIP stateroom has been configured for 2012 with more headroom and two twin beds giving this new yacht spacious sleeping accommodations for six adults. For at-home comfort inner-spring, pillow-top mattresses are used in both staterooms. And, in true Carver tradition, there is plenty of space to store and hang clothing and personal items for an extended vacation or cruise. The 2012 Carver 44 Sojourn has been designed to maximize the benefits provided by the optional Volvo Penta IPS pod drive system. Underway Volvo IPS drives deliver improved propulsion efficiency when compared to traditional shaft driven systems.
