SAFETY INFORMATION Please read, understand, and follow all safety information contained in these instructions prior to the use of this tool. Retain these instructions for future reference. Intended Use: This tool is designed as a buffing solution for repairing automobile bodies and parts, clear coat painting on metal, fiber reinforced plastic (RFP) and wood. It should not be operated in water or in an excessive wet application. 2 WARNING To reduce the risks associated with excessive pneumatic pressure, noise, vibration, eye/skin irritation, and tool breakage during the use of this product: Read and follow the safety information contained in these instructions prior to the use of this tool. Retain these instructions for future reference. Always wear protection for eyes* and ears while operating this product. Follow ANSI Z87.1or local/national standards for eyewear and other personal protective equipment requirements. Never exceed maximum input pressure of 90 PSI (6.2 bar). Never point this tool in the direction of your body or that of another person. If you notice any abnormal noise or vibration when operating the product, immediately discontinue its use and return to the manufacturer for service or repair. Refer to warranty instructions. Discontinue use of the tool if abnormal hand/wrist discomfort is experienced. If discomfort continues seek medical attention. Use dust capture or local exhaust as stated in the MSDS. Use care in fastening Hookit Disc Backup Pad to ensure that it is securely attached to the tool before use. Make sure the tool is disconnected from the air source before cleaning, inspecting, servicing or changing any parts. CAUTION To reduce the risk of skin abrasion, cuts or burns, do not touch rotating parts during operation for any reason. CAUTION Improper use can cause the tool to break apart and may cause injury to operators and bystanders. Never free spin the tool or allow it to be started unintentionally. Never operate the tool without all guards or safety features in place and in proper working order. Inspect backup pad and replace if unusual wear is noticed. 3 HOW TO HANDLE Check for loose screws and missing parts before operation. Connect air hoses after cleaning all appropriate fittings to reduce contamination from foreign objects, dust, sand, etc. During inspection of each part make sure to detach air hoses. When connecting air hoses with an air tool, do not squeeze the trigger. Do not throw the tool. Do not drag the tool while holding the air hose. Do not use the tool in a non-recommended application. Operation without lubrication will cause rapid wear on the motor and can lead to rotation failure. Prior to storing, lubricate the tool at a low speed to spread oil inside the motor. Select a dry and safe place for storage. Frequent cleaning of air connections will reduce contamination of the motor. Abnormal noise or vibration during operation indicates an immediate need for tool repair. If repair is necessary notify sales office or repair center from where you purchased this tool regarding inspection and repair. Use only recommended replacement parts. PRIOR TO OPERATION Keep the work area clean, orderly and free of obstacles. Inspect for loose parts (tool and attachment) prior to operation. Confirm that air pressure does not exceed 90 PSI / 6.2 bar. When connecting to an air hose ensure a secure connection that will not loosen during operation. Center the buffing pad on the backup pad. Press the buffing pad securely into place. START AND STOP Place the tool in contact with the work piece. Start the tool by pressing the lever/trigger lightly. Keep the tool flat while in contact with the work surface. Slow the tool down before removing from the work piece. Detach air hose when the tool is not in use. Detach the tool from the air source when transporting. DURING OPERATION Speed can be adjusted from low to high with the speed controller knob. Do not apply excessive force to the tool. Excessive force can lead to inefficient tool performance and decreased tool life. B. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO OPERATION Make sure the workplace is neat and is in appropriate condition. Check for loose parts (pad, etc.). Make sure the air pressure is appropriate less than 90 PSI (6.2 bar). When a coupler or extension is used, be sure it is tight so that it will not come loose because of vibration, etc. START OF OPERATION The tool starts when the lever is pressed. It stops when the lever is released. When you work, be sure to operate the lever after the buffing pad contacts the work surface. 3

4 PRIOR TO OPERATION AND AFTER OPERATION Be sure to oil the tool motor through the air supply opening. After oiling, run the tool at low speed. When not in production, remove air hose and store in safe, dry place. 4

7 D. DISASSEMBLY METHOD CAUTION Remove the air hose before disassembling the tool. Disassembly while the air hose is still attached is very dangerous. 1. Remove pad holder. Use the attached spanner to remove the pad. Secure the pad retainer (27) and rotate the pad (33) in the counterclockwise direction. 2. Removing the Base Ring Remove four screws (32) and remove the base ring (30). Remove the body gasket (29). 3. Disassembly of the Motor Remove the motor assembly. Remove the screw (12) from the upper end of the motor assembly. 7 Remove the ball bearing as well as the U-bearing case (14 & 15).

8 Remove the ball bearing (14) using a special puller. Remove the cylinder set (16). Remove the vanes (18). Remove the ball bearing (14) using a special puller. Remove the H/R key (22). The L-bearing case and the ball bearing (19 & 20) are removed using a plastic hammer so that the shaft (21) will not be damaged. The ball bearing (20) is removed from the L-bearing case (19) using a special puller. Remove the snap ring (28) from the shaft assembly. Remove the pad retainer assembly using a special tool. Clamp the pad retainer (27) in a vise and remove the retainer bolt. 8

9 Remove the ball bearing (24) using a special tool. Remove the dust seal (26) and the 18 Dia felt ring (25). 4. Disassembly of the Valve Remove the dust seal (26) and f18 diameter felt ring (25). Using a snap ring tool, remove the snap ring (3). Remove the valve pin sleeve and the O-ring KS-7 (4 & 5) together with the O-ring KS-2 and the valve (6 & 7). Be careful not to lose the valve spring. Remove the O-ring KS-2 and the valve (6 & 7) from the valve pin sleeve and the O-ring KS-7 (4 & 5). Remove the O-ring KS-7 (5) out from the valve pin sleeve (4). Remove the O-ring KS-2 (6) from the valve (7). 9

ASSEMBLY METHOD Before assembly, inspect each part for wear or damage. Use only recommended spare parts. Apply oil lightly on each part. Exchange damaged O rings. Do not omit the O rings. Apply grease (general purpose grease). Assemble the parts carefully in the reverse order from the disassembly. Assemble the motor, paying special attention to the required upper and lower clearance. When assembly is finished, check for loose screws, etc. Pour a few drops of air tool oil into the air inlet part, and run at a slow speed. Check that it rotates freely. 10
