Before Starting The Engine The area within a perimeter of 15 m of the person using the product should be considered a hazardous area into which no one should enter. If necessary, yellow warning rope or warning signs should be placed around the perimeter of the area. When work is to be performed simultaneously by two or more persons, care should also be taken to constantly look around or otherwise check for the presence and locations of other workers so as to maintain a distance between each person sufficient to ensure safety. Safety Check the condition of working area to avoid hitting hidden obstacles such as stumps, stones, cans, or broken glass. Starting The Engine Keep bystanders and animals at least 15 m away from the operating point. If you are approached, immediately stop the engine. The product is equipped with a centrifugal clutch mechanism, so the cutting attachment begins to rotate as soon as the engine is started by putting the throttle into the start position. When starting the engine, place the product onto the ground in a flat clear area, and hold it firmly in place so as to ensure that neither the cutting part nor the throttle come into contact with any obstacle when the engine starts. After starting the engine, check to make sure that the cutting attachment stops rotating when the throttle is moved fully back to its original position. If it continues to rotate even after the throttle has been moved fully back, turn off the engine and take the unit to your authorized servicing dealer for repair. Important: Remove any obstacles before beginning work. Important: Never place the throttle into the high-speed position when starting the engine. Multi Tool FM5-1 11

Using The Product Cut only materials recommended by the manufacturer. And use only for tasks explained in the manual. Safety Grip the handles firmly with both hands. Place your feet slightly apart (slightly further apart than the width of your shoulders) so that your weight is distributed evenly across both legs, and always be sure to maintain a steady, even posture while working. Keep cutting attachment below waist level. Maintain the speed of the engine at the level required to perform cutting work, and never raise the speed of the engine above the level necessary. If the unit starts to shake or vibrate, turn off the engine and check the whole unit. Do not use it until the fault has been properly corrected. Keep all parts of your body away from rotating cutting attachments and hot surfaces. Never touch the exhaust, spark plug, or other metallic parts of the engine while the engine is in operation or immediately after shutting down the engine. Doing so could result in serious burns or electrical shock. In the event that any part must be replaced or any maintenance or repair work not described in this manual must be performed, please contact us at Forest Master. Under no circumstances should you ever take apart the product or alter it in any way. Doing so might result in the product becoming damaged or becoming unable to operate properly. Warning: The engine reaches high temperatures while running and remains hot for some time after it has stopped. 12 Multi Tool FM5-1

The engine is designed to run on a mixed fuel, which contains highly flammable petrol. Never store cans of fuel or refill the fuel tank of the unit in any place where there is a boiler, stove, wood fire, electrical sparks, welding sparks, or any other source of heat or fire which might ignite the fuel. Never smoke while operating the unit or refilling its fuel tank. When refilling the tank, always turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Safety Ensure that there are no sparks or open flames anywhere nearby before refuelling. Wipe spilled fuel up completely using a dry rag if any fuel spillage occurs during refuelling. After refuelling, screw the fuel cap back tightly onto the fuel tank and then carry the unit to a spot 3 m or more away from where it was refuelled before starting the engine. Never operate the pruner at an angle greater than 60 in order to reduce the risk of being struck by falling objects during operation. Approaching or contacting electric power lines with pruning saw may cause serious injury or death from electrocution. Electricity can jump from one point to another by means of arcing or may be conducted through damp branches. Maintain a clearance of at least 10m between Pole saw and any electrical line carrying live current. Multi Tool FM5-1 13

If Someone Comes Guard against hazardous situations at all times. Warn adults to keep pets and children away from the area. Be careful if you are approached. Injury may result from flying debris. Safety If someone calls out or otherwise interrupts you while working, always be sure to turn off the engine before turning around. Brush Cutter Kickback 12h 2h Attention Rebound An uncontrolled kickback of the blade may occur when using the brush cutter. This kickback phenomenon occurs in particular when performing cuts in the critical angle of the blade, i.e. the angle between 12 and 2 o clock. Never use the trimmer with the blade angle between 12 and 2 o clock. Never use such a blade angle for cutting solid materials such as bushes, roots etc whose diameter is greater than 3cm. The trimmer could be violently projected to the side and may cause injury. This uncontrolled kickback of the blade is more likely to occur when the user cannot see the material being cut. This uncontrolled kickback can cause serious injury or even death, to the user or other people or animals. Always keep people and animals at least 15m away from the machine. Warning: Never use the trimmer with the blade angle between 12 and 2 o clock. 14 Multi Tool FM5-1

Chainsaw Kickback Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contact in some cases may cause a lightning fast reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator. Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator. Safety Either of these reactions may cause you to Iose control of the saw, which could result in serious personal injury. Do not rely exclusively on the safety devices built into your saw. As a chain saw user you should take several steps to keep cutting jobs free from accident or injury, such as: Steady, methodical work Proper revision of this manual Good diligence A clear visual of your work area With a basic understanding of kickback you can reduce or eliminate the element of surprise. Sudden surprise contributes to accidents. Keep a good grip on the saw with both hands, the right hand on the rear handle, and the left hand on the front handle, when the engine is running. Use a firm grip with thumbs and fingers encircling the chain saw handles. A firm grip will help you reduce kickback and maintain control of the saw. Make certain that the area in which you are cutting is free from obstructions. Do not let the nose of the guide bar contact a log, branch, or any other obstruction which could be hit while you are operating the saw. Cut at high engine speeds. Do not overreach or cut above shoulder height. Follow the manufacturer s sharpening and maintenance instructions for the saw chain. Only use replacement bars and chains specified by us at Forest Master. Multi Tool FM5-1 15

Make sure the chain and sprocket are correctly adjusted before operating the pruner. Never attempt chain adjustment with the engine running! Always make sure the cutting attachment is properly installed and firmly tightened before operation. Safety Never use a cracked or warped guide bar: replace it with a serviceable one and make sure it fits properly. If a saw blade should bind fast in a cut, shut off the engine immediately. Push the branch or tree to ease the bind and free the blade. Do not operate the pole pruner with the exhaust removed. When cutting a limb that is under tension, be alert for springback so that you will not be struck by the moving limb. Always stop the engine immediately and check for damage if you strike a foreign object or if the machine becomes tangled. Do not operate with broken or damaged equipment. Important: Do not make unauthorised modifications or substitutions to the guide bar or chain. Never allow the engine to run at high RPM without a load. Doing so could damage the engine. Keep the pruner as clean as possible. 16 Multi Tool FM5-1

Vibration The vibration during use of the power tool can differ depending on the ways in which the tool is used. There is the need to identify safety measures to protect the operator that are based on an estimation of exposure in the actual conditions of use (taking account of all parts of the operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time). Prolonged used of a tool (or other machines) may expose the operator to vibrations that may product white finger disease (Raynaud s syndrome) or carpal tunnel syndrome. Safety These conditions reduce the hand s ability to feel and regulate temperature, produce numbness and may cause nerve and circulation damage and tissue necrosis. To help in the prevention and reducing the risk of the white finger disease, please note the following: wear gloves and keep your hands warm; maintain a firm grip at all times, but do not squeeze the handles with constant pressure, take frequent pauses Even when the tool is used as prescribed it is not possible to eliminate all residual risk factors. The following hazards may arise in connection with the tool s construction and design: a. Damage to lungs if an effective dust mask is not worn. b. Damage to hearing if effective hearing protection is not worn. c. Health defects resulting from vibration if the tool is being used over longer period of time or not adequately managed and properly maintained. Wear hearing protection while operating the tool. Always Wear The Provided Harness When Using The Machine Always make sure the machine is hooked securely to the harness. If you don t, you will be unable to control the machine safely. This can result in injury to yourself or others. Never use a harness with a defective quick release or any other damage. Multi Tool FM5-1 17

Note: careful daily inspection should be performed before use and after a drop or shock to identify major defects. Do not use the machine until the defects have been repaired. Safety Restrict working hours to a minimum and always take rest periods. For proper use, after each work period take a rest period (for example take a rest for 10 minutes after a work period of 30 minutes). When you finish cutting in one location and wish to continue work in another spot, turn off the engine, lift up the unit and carry it paying attention to the blade. Never forget to place the protective cover over the blades. When hand-carrying the product, cover over the cutting part if necessary, lift up the product and carry it paying attention to the blade. Maintenance In order to maintain your product in proper working order, perform the maintenance and checking operations described in the manual at regular intervals. Always be sure to turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance or checking procedures. Transportation Stop engine. When hand-carrying the product, always cover the cutting device. Lift up the product and carry it paying attention to the cutting device. Never transport the product by vehicle without removing all fuel from the fuel tank, to prevent fuel leaking from the tank during transport. Caution: After stopping the engine, the metal parts (e.g. exhaust) will remain hot. Never touch the hot parts. Allow them to cool down before handling the machine. When transporting in a vehicle, be sure to firmly secure the product with no part extending outside the vehicle. 18 Multi Tool FM5-1

Filling With Oil And Fuel Petrol is highly flammable. Avoid smoking or bringing any flame or sparks near fuel. Make sure to stop the engine and allow it cool before refuelling the unit. Select outdoor bare ground for fuelling and move at least 3 m (10 ft) away from the fuelling point before starting the engine. The engine is specially designed for air-cooled two stroke mixed fuel use. Use only 2-stroke oil that is suitable for air cooled engines. Do not use BIA or TCW (2-stroke water-cooled marine type) 2-stroke oil. Operation How To Mix Fuel Recommended mixing ratios; Petrol 40 / Synthetic Oil 1 Petrol 25 / Mineral Oil 1 1. Measure out the required quantities of petrol and oil to be mixed. 2. Put some of the petrol into a clean, approved fuel container. 3. Pour in all of the oil and agitate well. 4. Pour in the rest of petrol and agitate again for at least one minute. As some oils may be difficult to agitate depending on oil ingredients, sufficient agitation is necessary for engine protection. If the agitation is insufficient, there is an increased danger of early piston seizing due to abnormally lean mixture. 5. Put a clear indication on the outside of the container to avoid mixing up with petrol or other containers. 6. Indicate the contents on outside of container for easy identification. Fuelling The Unit 1. Untwist and remove the fuel cap. Rest the cap on a dustless place. 2. Put fuel into the fuel tank to 80% of the full capacity. 3. Fasten the fuel cap securely and wipe up any fuel spillage around the unit. Warning: Select bare ground for refuelling. Move at least 10 ft (3 metres) away from the fuelling point before starting the engine. Stop the engine before refuelling. At that time, be sure to sufficiently agitate the mixed fuel in the container. Multi Tool FM5-1 25

Operation For Your Engine Life: 1. DO NOT FUEL WITH NO OIL (RAW PETROL) It will cause severe damage to the internal engine parts very quickly. 2. DO NOT USE GASOHOL It can cause deterioration of rubber and/or plastic parts and disruption of engine lubrication. 3. DO NOT USE OIL FOR 4-STROKE ENGINE USE It can cause spark plug fouling, exhaust port blocking, or piston ring sticking. 4. DO NOT USE Mixed fuels which have been left unused for a period of one month or more. These may clog the carburettor and result in the engine failing to operate properly. 5. In the case of storing the product for a long period of time, clean the fuel tank after rendering it empty. Next, empty the carburettor of the composite fuel. 6. In the case of scrapping the used mixed oil container, scrap it only at an authorized repository site. Choke selector On Starting 1. Rest the unit on a flat, firm place. Keep the cutting head off the ground and clear of surrounding objects, as it will start rotating upon starting of the engine. 2. Push the primer bulb several times until fuel flows out in the clear tube. 3. Move the choke lever to the On position. 4. Set the stop switch to the - position. 5. While holding the unit firmly, pull the pull start quickly until the engine fires. Off Stop switch Avoid pulling the rope to its end or returning it by releasing the knob, as this may damage the pull start. 26 Multi Tool FM5-1

6. Move the choke lever downward to Off position. 7. Allow the engine to warm up for a several minutes before starting operation. Stopping 1. Release the throttle lever and run the engine for half a minute. 2. Move the stop switch to the STOP position O. 3. Except for an emergency, avoid stopping the engine while pulling the throttle lever. 4. If engine doesn t stop at the stop switch, move the choke lever to the On position. Operation When restarting the engine immediately after stopping it,leave the choke open. Overchoking can make the engine hard to start due to excess fuel. If the engine fails to start after several attempts, open the choke and repeat pulling the rope, or remove the spark plug and dry it. Adjusting The Throttle Cable The normal play is 1 or 2 mm when measured at the carburettor side end. Readjust with the cable adjuster as required. Adjusting Idle Speed Warm up the engine before adjusting the idling speed. 1. If the engine stops frequently at idling mode, turn the adjusting screw clockwise. 2. When the cutting head keeps rotating after releasing the trigger, turn the adjusting screw counter-clockwise. Warning: The product is equipped with a centrifugal clutch mechanism, so the cutting attachment begins to rotate as soon as the engine is started by putting the throttle into the start position. When starting the engine, place the product onto the ground in a flat clear area and hold it firmly in place, so as to ensure that neither the cutting part nor the throttle come into contact with any obstacle when the engine starts. Multi Tool FM5-1 27

Operation Of The Brush Cutter And Trimmer Operation Choose the blade or choose a suitable recommended cutting attachment, according to the object to be cut. Working With The Edge Trimmer (With The Nylon Line) 1. Always wear eye protection such as safety goggles. Never lean over the rotating cutting head. Rocks or other debris could be thrown into eyes and face and cause serious personal injury. 2. Keep the cutting attachment guard in place at all times while the unit is operated. Trimming Grass And Weeds 1. Hold the unit so the head is off the ground and is tilted about 20 degrees toward the sweep direction. 2. You can avoid thrown debris by sweeping from your left to the right. 3. Use a slow, deliberate action to cut heavy growth. The rate of cutting motion will depend on the material being cut. Heavy growth will require slower action than with light growth. 4. Never swing the unit hard as you are in danger of losing your balance or control of the unit. Try to control the cutting motion with the hip rather than placing the full work load on the arm and hands. 28 Multi Tool FM5-1

5. Take precautions to avoid wire, grass and dead, dry, long stem weeds from wrapping around the head shaft. Such materials can stall the head and cause the clutch to slip, resulting in damage to the clutch system if repeated frequently. Adjusting The Line Length Your brush cutter is equipped with a semi-auto type nylon line head, that allows the operator to advance the line without stopping the engine. When the line becomes short, lightly tap the head on the ground while running the engine at full throttle. Operation Each time the head is bumped, the line advances about 1 inch (25.4 mm). For better effect, tap the head on bare ground or hard soil. Working With The Brush Cutter (With The Metal Blade) 1. Use the front left side cutting. 2. Guide the blade from your right to left with it tilted slightly to your left. 3. When mowing a wide area, start working from your left end to avoid interference of cut grass. 4. The blade may be seized by weeds if the engine speed is too low, or the blade cuts too deep into weeds. Adjust the engine speed and cutting depth according to the condition of object. 5. If grass or other objects are caught in the blade, or if the unit starts to shake or vibrate, turn off the engine and check the whole unit. Change the blade if it has been damaged. Turn off the engine and make sure the blade has completely stopped before checking the blade, and removing any objects that are trapped. Important: Make sure to use the harness and cutting attachment guard. Multi Tool FM5-1 29

Operation Securing Bolt Safety Check 1. Before each use, check the bolt that fastens the blade and be sure the bolt is secure and has no fault, and no abrasion. 2. Be sure that the blade and the holder have been fastened securely and that the blade turns smoothly without abnormal noise. 3. Rotating parts fastened incorrectly may cause serious accident to the operator. 4. Make sure that the blade is not bent, warped, cracked, broken or damaged. 5. If you find any fault or damage to the blade, discard it and replace with a new one. Controlling Blade Thrust Blade thrust can cause serious personal injury. Carefully study this section. It is important that you understand what causes blade thrust, how you can reduce the chance of blade thrust and how you can remain in control of the unit if blade thrust does occur. What causes blade thrust: Blade thrust can occur when the moving blade contacts an object that it cannot cut. This contact causes the blade to stop for an instant and then suddenly move or bounce away from the object that was hit. The operator can lose control of the unit and the blade can cause serious personal injury to the operator or any person nearby if the blade contacts any part of the body. How you can reduce the chance of blade thrust: a. Recognize that blade thrust can happen. By understanding and knowing about bounce, you can help eliminate the element of surprise. b. Cut fibrous weeds and grass only. Do not let the blade contact materials it cannot cut such as hard, woody vines and bushes or rocks, fences, metal, etc. c. Be extra prepared for bounce if you must cut where you cannot see the blade making contact such as in areas of dense growth. d. Keep the blade sharp. A dull blade increases the chance of bounce. Important: Check the blade securing bolt before each use. 30 Multi Tool FM5-1

e. Avoid feeding the blade too rapidly. The blade can bounce away from material being cut if the blade is fed faster than its cutting capability. f. Cut only from your right to your left. g. Keep your path of advance clear of material that has been cut and other debris. How you can maintain the best control: a. Keep a good, firm grip on the unit with both hands. A firm grip can help neutralize bounce. Keep your right and left hands completely around the respective handles. b. Keep both feet spread apart in a comfortable stance and yet braced for the possibility that the unit could bounce. Do not over reach. Keep firm footing and balance. Operation Maintenance Of Blade Check the blade and the fasteners for looseness, cracking, or bending. 1. Keep the end corner sharp. 2. Round the root of the edge, using a round file. 3. Do not use water when using a grinder. It is recommended that filing should be done by professionals. Transporting The Unit When you finish cutting in one location and wish to continue work in another spot, turn off the engine, lift up the unit and carry it, paying attention to the blade. Never forget to place the protective cover over the blades. When transporting the unit over long distances, detach the blade and fasten the unit by ropes. Multi Tool FM5-1 31

Operation Working With The Hedge Trimmer This product is equipped with extremely sharp blades and when used improperly these blades can be extremely dangerous. Improper handling can cause accidents, which may in turn lead to serious injury or death. For this reason, you should always be careful to follow the following instructions when using your trimmer. Never hold the trimmer in a way in which the blades are pointed towards someone else. Never allow the blades to come into proximity with your body while the engine of the trimmer is in operation. Always be sure to turn off the engine before changing the angle of the blades, removing branches which have become stuck in the blades, or at any other time when coming into close proximity with the blades. Always wear work gloves made of leather or sturdy material when using the trimmer. Always place the blade cover provided with the trimmer over the blades when not in use. Falling branches may fall onto the face or into the eyes, resulting in injuries, scratches, and cuts, and for this reason you should always be sure to wear a helmet and face protector when using your trimmer. The thickness of branches, which may be cut using this trimmer, is limited to up to approximately 3/16 (5 mm). Never try to cut branches thicker than this, as doing so may result in damage to the trimmer. 32 Multi Tool FM5-1

(2) (1) (2) Adjusting the hedge trimmer head angle 1. Stop the engine 2. Fit the protective cover on the blades 3. Pull out the safety rod (1). 4. Turn the adjustment mechanism (2) to just the angle of the hedge trimmer head. Operation Working With The Pole Pruner Chain oil Pour the chain oil into the oil tank (2) and tighten the cap securely. After starting the engine, run the chain at medium speed and see if chain oil (1) has scattered off, as shown in the figure. The oil reservoir has a capacity sufficient to provide about 40 minutes of cutting time (when set to deliver the optimal flow rate, or about as long as you ll get from a tank of fuel). Be sure to refill the oil tank every time when refuelling the saw. Warning: Never fill the pole pruner oil reservoir with the engine running. Multi Tool FM5-1 33

Oil Flow Rate The guide bar and chain are lubricated automatically by a pump that operates whenever the chain rotates. The pump is set at the factory to deliver an optimal flow rate. Operation Locating holes Locking pin Locking sleeve Adjusting the pruner head angle The angle of the pruner head can be adjusted through 90 degrees. This makes it easier to cut high branches as you are pulling down on the shaft rather than pushing the shaft. 1. Pull the locking sleeve back along the shaft so that the locking pin is clear of the locating hole. 2. Change the position of the pruner head to the desired angle. 3. Slide the locking sleeve back along the shaft to engage the locking pin in the required locating hole. Warning: Always wear work gloves made of leather or sturdy material when using the polesaw. Falling branches may fall onto the face or into the eyes, resulting in injuries, scratches, and cuts, and for this reason you should always be sure to wear a helmet and face protector when using your polesaw 34 Multi Tool FM5-1

Transporting The Multi Tool When you finish using the strimmer in one location and wish to continue work in another spot, turn off the engine, lift up the unit and carry it, paying attention to the hot engine. Be careful not to tip any fuels during moving to another spot. When transporting the unit over long distances, ensure the engine is cool to the touch, and that any fluids cannot spill out. Operation Multi Tool FM5-1 35

Any breach in adequate maintenance reduces the life of the machine and increases the risk of breakdowns and accidents. x x x x x To preserve the security system throughout the life of the machine, it is important to perform maintenance and proper cleaning, DO NOT use noncompliant replacement parts and DO NOT dismantle the machine yourself or change the security features. Warning: Make sure that the engine has stopped and is cool before performing any service to the machine. Contact with moving cutting head or hot exhaust may result in a personal injury. 36 Multi Tool FM5-1

Brush Cutter Edge Strimmer The reduction gears in the angle transmission are lubricated by multipurpose, lithium based grease. Supply new grease every 25 hours of use, or more often depending on the usage frequency of the product. Remove the cutter holders before installing new grease, to allow for old grease to exit. Maintenance Refilling The Trimming Line 1. For replacement line, use a line with diameter of 2.4mm (.095in). The spool is capable to holding up to 2.5m. Avoid using a larger line as it may reduce the trimming performance. 2. Pinch the slotted area on the both sides of the spool housing to unhook the bottom cap. 3. Take out the spool and pull off the old line. Put one end of new line through the spool holes and pull it until the length is equal between each part of the line. 4. Wind up the line in the correct direction as indicated on the spool. 5. Hook each end of the line in the slot on the edge of the spool, and then put the ends through the eyelets on the housing. Make sure that the spring and the washers are in place. 6. While holding the spool against the housing, pull the line ends to release them from the slot. 7. Line up the slot on the bottom cap with the hook on the housing, press the cap against the housing until it clicks. Warning: For safety reasons, do not use metal reinforced line. Multi Tool FM5-1 37

Maintenance 38 Multi Tool FM5-1

Hedge trimmer Blades When refilling the tank or resting, it is often a good idea to use the time to oil the cutting blades. If a gap exists between the upper and lower blades, follow the procedure below to adjust them so that they fit more closely together. 1. Loosen lock nut (A) as shown in the diagram. 2. Tighten screw (B) fully, and then turn onethird to one-half of a rotation backward. 3. While holding onto the screw to keep it in position, tighten the lock nut. 4. Check to make sure that the flat washer (C) is loose enough so that it may be turned by pressing on it with a finger. (1) Upper blade (2) Lower blade Maintenance Transmission The reduction gears are lubricated by multipurpose, lithium based grease in the transmission. Supply new grease every 25 hours of use or more often depending on the job condition. When adding lubricant, use a grease gun to insert lubricant into the three grease nipples located on the transmission. Note: Screwing in the screw too tightly may make it impossible for the blades to move. Conversely, not screwing in the screw tightly enough may make the blades of the trimmer feel dull and cause leaves and branches to become caught in the blades of the trimmer. Multi Tool FM5-1 39

Pruner Maintenance Oiling port Dismount the guide bar and check the oiling port for clogging. Guide bar Remove any sawdust in the bar groove and the oiling port. Oiling port Groove Oiling port Grease the nose sprocket from the feeding port on the tip of the bar. Grease port Sprocket Bar rail The bar rail should always be square. Check for wear of the bar rail. Apply a ruler to the bar and the outside of a cutter. If a gap is observed between them, the rail is normal. Otherwise, the bar rail is worn. Such a bar needs to be corrected or replaced. Ruler Gap No Gap 40 Multi Tool FM5-1

Sprocket 0.3mm Check for extensive wear, and replace it when the teeth are worn over 0.3 mm. Chain Sharpening Sprocket Maintenance IMPORTANT! WEAR GLOVES DURING THIS PROCESS! Clamp the chain bar in a vice or workbench. Place your file on the cutter and push straightforward. Keep the file position as illustrated to the right. After every cutter has been set, check the depth gauge and file it to the proper level as illustrated in 1, 2 and 3. Make sure every cutter has the same length and edge angles as illustrated in 4, 5, 6, and 7. Multi Tool FM5-1 41

Transmission Maintenance The reduction gears are lubricated by multipurpose lithium based grease in the transmission. Supply new grease every 25 hours of use or more often depending on the usage frequency of the product. When adding lubricant, use a grease gun to insert lubricant into the grease nipple located on the transmission. Engine Maintenance Grease filling Air filter The air filter, if clogged, will reduce the engine performance. Check and clean the filter element in warm, soapy water as required. Dry completely before installing. If the element is broken or shrunk, replace with a new one. Fuel filter If the engine runs short of fuel, check the fuel cap and the fuel filter for blockage. Air filter Fuel filter Spark plug Starting failure and misfiring are often caused by a fouled spark plug. Clean the spark plug and check that the plug gap is in the correct range. For a replacement spark plug, use the correct type. Warning: The engine remains hot for a considerable time after use. Ensure the engine is cool before performing any service. 42 Multi Tool FM5-1

Clearing blockages Cylinder If waste gets stuck and causes blockage around the intake air cooling vent or between the cylinder fins, it may cause the engine to overheat, and that in turn may cause mechanical failure. Make sure it is cleaned regularly. Intake air cooling vent (back) Maintenance Exhaust cleaning after every 100 hours of use 1. Remove the exhaust, insert a screwdriver into the vent, and wipe away any carbon buildup. Wipe away any carbon buildup on the exhaust vent and cylinder exhaust port at the same time. 2. Tighten all screws, bolts, and fittings. 3. Check to see if any oil or grease has worked its way in between the clutch lining and drum, and if it has, wipe it away using spirits. Multi Tool FM5-1 43

Storage Maintenance Aged fuel is one of the major causes of engine starting failure. Before storing the unit, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it uses all the fuel left in the fuel line and the carburettor. Store the unit indoors taking necessary measures for rust prevention. Keep product, user manual and accessories in the original packaging. Clean tool before storage. Perform maintenance operations and proper cleaning before storage. For prolonged periods of storage, drain the oil and fuel from the tanks, and lubricate the chain and moving parts. Always lubricate the cutter blades with protective oil spray before storage. Store the machine with the supplied cutter blade protection cover. It is recommended to store the product in a clean, dry location, protected from humidity, frost and dust, and keep it out of children s reach (e.g. high or in a locked up place). Do not store product in temperatures lower than 0ºC (32ºF) Do not place or store any object on top of the product 44 Multi Tool FM5-1
