3 SPECIFICATIONS Model Number: EO6VA Description: The Power Transformer converts the voltage available from an external AC power source to the standard operating voltage of the vacuum lifter; the transformer does not otherwise affect lifter operation. After installing and testing the transformer (see INSTALLATION to follow), operate the lifter as directed in the OPERATION section of the lifter's instruction manual. Despite the high degree of security they provide, certain precautions must be observed to protect the user and others. Always use the Power Transformer under conditions approved for the lifter's design (see INTENDED USE in lifter's instruction manual). Never use a Power Transformer that is damaged, malfunctioning, or missing parts. Always place the power control in the inactive position and disconnect the power source before servicing the Power Transformer. Always remember that modifications to the Power Transformer may compromise safety. Wood's Powr-Grip cannot be responsible for the safety of a transformer that has been modified by the customer. 4 INSTALLATION 1) Remove the Power Transformer from the shipping crate, and use the screws provided to attach the transformer to its mounting plate on the vacuum lifter. Note: Some lifters require the lift bar to be in a vertical orientation to access the transformer's mounting plate. If so, consult the ASSEMBLY and OPERATION sections of the lifter's instruction manual to position the lift bar appropriately. If the lifter also features powered tilt capability, connect the unmounted transformer to the power cable as directed in step 2 of INSTALLATION. Be careful to support the transformer and provide sufficient slack in the power cable to allow for lift bar movement. Once the lift bar has been raised to a vertical orientation, disconnect the power cable and attach the transformer to its mounting plate. 2) Connect the transformer to the power cable, as follows: Identify the male connector that is wired to the lifter's power unit. Push the power unit's male connector into the transformer's female connector, and twist to secure the connectors together. Identify the female connector that has been wired to the external power source, as directed in the ASSEMBLY section of the lifter's instruction manual. Push the transformer's male connector into the power source's female connector, and twist to secure the connectors together. Make certain the power cable is routed so that it does not become tangled while operating the lifter or hoisting equipment. Use cable ties to secure any loose portions of the power cable to the lifter. 3) Test the function of the transformer (see MAINTENANCE: TESTING SCHEDULE). Rev 1.0/ EO6VA: #35195AFT

5 MAINTENANCE INSPECTION SCHEDULE Perform inspections of the Power Transformer routinely, according to the following frequency schedule: Frequent Inspection (following every hours use; or whenever Power Transformer is out of service for 1 month or more) Examine the Power Transformer for visual damage. Examine the electrical connectors between the Power Transformer, the lifter's power system and the external power source for proper installation (see INSTALLATION). Make sure all power cables are correctly routed and secured (see INSTALLATION). If any deficiency is detected during the inspection, correct it before using the Power Transformer, and perform the Periodic Inspection to follow. Periodic Inspection (following every hours use; or whenever Power Transformer is out of service for 1 year or more) Examine the entire Power Transformer (including power cables and connectors) for external evidence of looseness, excessive wear, deformation, cracks, excessive corrosion, dents to structural or functional components, cuts, or any deficiency which might constitute a hazard. Inspect all electrical parts for damage, wear or contamination that could constitute a hazard, in compliance with all local codes and regulatory standards that are relevant for the geographical region. CAUTION: Be sure to use appropriate cleaning methods for each type of electrical component, as specified by codes and standards. Improper cleaning can damage components. Keep a written record of all Periodic Inspections. If any deficiency is detected during the inspection, correct it before using the Power Transformer. If necessary, return the transformer to Wood s Powr-Grip or an authorized dealer for repair or replacement (see LIMITED WARRANTY). Infrequent Use If the Power Transformer is used less than 1 day in a 2-week period, perform the Periodic Inspection each time before using the Power Transformer. Rev 1.0/ EO6VA: #35195AFT

6 TESTING SCHEDULE Perform these tests when installing the Power Transformer initially and each time following a repair or modification. Correct any deficiency and retest before using the Power Transformer. Test the function of the Power Transformer, according to the Description in SPECIFICATIONS and MAINTENANCE: FUSE INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT. Note: See MAINTENANCE topics to follow for additional directions about inspecting and testing specific Power Transformer components. MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Although the Power Transformer does not require maintenance on a routine basis, maintenance must be performed whenever a deficiency is indicated by routine inspections or tests. Any maintenance warranted must be performed before resuming normal use of the transformer. FUSE INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT The Power Transformer has two fuses to protect the vacuum lifter's power system from current overloading. If any powered feature does not function when the power cord is connected to the external power source, it is likely that at least one of the fuses is blown and needs to be replaced. Fuses are located in externally accessible holders mounted in the transformer enclosure. To remove a fuse for inspection, push the end of the fuse holder inward and turn it counterclockwise; then pull out the fuse holder's end, exposing the fuse attached to it. If the fuse is blown, replace it with the appropriate size and type of fuse, as indicated by markings on the blown fuse (contact Wood's Powr-Grip for assistance, if necessary). To install a fuse, reverse the removal steps. Secure the fuse by pushing the end of the fuse holder inward and turning it clockwise until it stops. 7 LIMITED WARRANTY Powr-Grip products are carefully constructed, thoroughly inspected at various stages of production, and individually tested. They are warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of one year from the date of purchase. If a problem develops during the warranty period, follow the instructions hereafter to obtain warranty service. If inspection shows that the problem is due to defective workmanship or materials, Powr-Grip will repair the product without charge. WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY WHEN: Modifications have been made to the product after leaving the factory. Rubber portions have been cut or scratched during use. Repairs are required due to abnormal wear and tear. The product has been damaged, misused, or neglected. If a problem is not covered under warranty, Powr-Grip will notify the customer of costs prior to repair. If the customer agrees to pay all repair costs and to receive the repaired product on a C.O.D. basis, Powr-Grip then will proceed with repairs.
