Installation Instructions Once a problem area has been identified, it is important to adhere to the safety regulations regarding setup, maintenance and operational repairs. 1.

Before installing a SureGuide Return Roller ensure that the power supply to the conveyor belt has been disconnected. 4. Disengage any take-ups. 5.

2 Installation Instructions Once a problem area has been identified, it is important to adhere to the safety regulations regarding setup, maintenance and operational repairs. 1. Clear the conveyor belt of material. 2. Ensure all workers have locked themselves from the system. 3. Before installing a SureGuide Return Roller ensure that the power supply to the conveyor belt has been disconnected. 4. Disengage any take-ups. 5. Raise the conveyor belt off the return idler where you want to install the SureGuide Return Roller. 6. Remove the idler currently in place. 7. Remove the roller bracket. 8. Install the SureGuide Pressure Control Bracket. 9. Before inserting the SureGuide Return Roller and tightening the pressure control bracket, ensure both brackets are correctly aligned and meet operational requirements. Ensure that the Aluminium slider & spring assembly are free to move. See figure Install the SureGuide Return Roller by confirming the belt direction labels on the roller and match to the direction of the conveyor belt. See figure Take note of the directional arrows punched on the shaft ends of the roller and match to the direction of the conveyor belt. 12. Take note of the word TOP punched into the top of the shaft and match to the direction of the conveyor belt. 13. Check the tilt of the SureGuide in relation to the belt. 14.

Ensure there is sufficient traction of the belt on the SureGuide Return Roller - (Green to Yellow Zone). 18. Prepare to test the conveyor belt.

Run the conveyor belt for 15 minutes and test that the SureGuide Return Roller tracks the belt from both sides. 20.

3 13. Check the tilt of the SureGuide in relation to the belt. 14. Adjust the Pressure Control Bracket by screwing the bottom adjusting bolt in or out so that the Slider Block is in the Green Zone of the pressure indicator. See figure Lock the adjustment bolt with a lock nut. See figure Ensure the edge of the SureGuide Return Roller does not touch any part of the structure when in full tilt. 17. Ensure there is sufficient traction of the belt on the SureGuide Return Roller - (Green to Yellow Zone). 18. Prepare to test the conveyor belt. Run the conveyor belt for 15 minutes and test that the SureGuide Return Roller tracks the belt from both sides. 20. Inspect the pressure indicator again once belt is running at full load capacity and tension. Tension and adjust if necessary, to achieve yellow zone pressure, BUT NOT RED!! Refer to Pressure Control Indicator on page Monitor the conveyor belt system for any misalignment and spillage problems. 22. If misalignment and spillage problems still occur, refer back to SureGuide Troubleshooting Procedures to identify possible causes and solutions. Figure /

4 Where to install? It is of great importance that the conveyor is inspected and that the best possible point is found for the installation of each SureGuide return roller. The following is the minimum recommendation for any conveyor system: (See figure 5 on opposite page) 1st SG roller is placed 3 x belt width from the Tail pulley or Slant Plough Scraper or V-plough Scraper if present. 2nd SG roller is placed 3 x belt width away from 1st SG roller 3rd SG roller is placed 3 x belt width after belt leaves take up section. 4th SG roller is placed 6 x belt width before belt enters take up section. 5th SG roller is placed 3 x belt width after head pulley. Thereafter one should walk from the head pulley toward the tail pulley and look for signs of belt misalignment, such as scuff marks, abrasion marks and cutting of the structure. Where such a point is identified one should move 3x belt width back toward the head pulley and mark the closest point where a SG Roller can replace an exsisting return roller. From this marker walk 30m toward tail pulley and start to look for signs of misalignment again and repeat procedure as above. Continue with this technique all the way to the tail pulley. Introduction This document serves to provide both manufacturer (SureGuide) and well as the end user the framework with regard to the warranty offered on the product made by the manufacturer and to set the extents and limits of such warranty. B. Workmanship, Materials and Systems Warranty Coverage 1. Workmanship and Materials Commencing on the Warranty Start Date, SureGuide warrants your unit/s free from defects in workmanship and materials as such defects are defined in the Construction Performance Standards set forth herein. The Workmanship and Materials Warranty ends 24 months after the date linked serial number which is pin engraved on each product. 2. Mechanical Systems Commencing on the Warranty Start Date, SureGuide warrants your unit/s will be free from defects in the mechanical systems, (referred herein collectively as Systems ) such defects are defined in the Construction Performance Standards set forth herein, including the portions of 5

7 the Systems. The Systems, The Workmanship and Materials Warranty ends 24 months after the date linked serial number which is pin engraved on each product. There are specific exclusions in this warranty for which coverage is not provided. Refer to the Exclusions Section in the General Warranty Provisions. C. Manufacturer s Responsibilities Under the Workmanship, Materials and Systems Warranty SureGuide undertakes to meet the Construction Performance Standards listed herein. The obligation under this Workmanship, Materials and Systems Warranty are the sole responsibility of SureGuide. If defect occurs on an item during the applicable part of the Warranty Period and the item is covered by the Workmanship, Materials or Systems Warranty, SureGuide will repair or replace the defective item. SureGuide s total liability under this warranty for the repair or replacement of defective items is limited solely to the cost to repair the unit. SureGuide at all times reserves the right to repair first before taking the option to replace. Should the unit be specifically manufactured to fit a non-sabs standard structure or in anyway not be according to SureGuide s standard list of products, the warranty will only be based on a repair first basis. SureGuide, if necessary, shall have the option to repair, replace or pay You the reasonable cost of repair and / or replacement of any covered defect. The choice to repair, replace or pay You for any defective item is solely that of the Manufacturer. The design, method and manner of such repair are within the sole discretion of the Manufacturer. The repair shall bring the defective item in compliance with the applicable Manufacturers Performance Standards listed herein. In no event shall SureGuide be liable for discontinued items not included in the original manufacture / design. No repair or replacement shall extend the Warranty Period or any applicable part thereof. D. Installer/Representative/End-User Responsibilities Under the Workmanship, Materials and Systems Warranty Installer/Representative/End-User has to be willing to comply with the terms and conditions of the warranty and Manufacturers Performance Standards as set forth herein; Total liability under this warranty for the repair or replacement of defective items is limited to the Warranty only. SureGuide s costs of determining the existence and/or extent of a covered defect, costs of designing, making, and monitoring /

8 repairs (or payments to You or to another instead) are deducted from the Warranty Limit. E. How to Make a Claim Under the Workmanship, Materials and Systems Warranty If You believe Your Unit/s has a defect that may be covered under the warranty during the applicable part of the Warranty Period, You must contact SureGuide as soon as possible upon your detecting a defect and before the expiration of the applicable Warranty Period. Photographic evidence as well as the product serial number must be submitted to assist SureGuide in determining the extent of such defect and whether it is warranted under the terms and conditions herein. The option to repair, replace or pay You the reasonable cost of repair or replacement is solely that of the SureGuide and does not negotiate the scheduling of repairs. It is the responsibility of the Installer/Representative/End-User to coordinate and cooperate with SureGuide to provide access to the Unit/s as provided in this warranty and or to remove the unit from service and return it to an authorised repair centre. Telephone calls to SureGuide shall not constitute a claim. You must notify SureGuide in writing before the expiration of the applicable Warranty Period. Notice to SureGuide within the applicable warranty period without separate written notice to SureGuide shall result in your claim being denied. Upon receipt of the Sureguide Workmanship, Materials and Systems Claim Form, SureGuide will contact the Installer/Representative/End-User and make attempts to get the Installer/Representative/End-User to comply with the terms and conditions of the applicable warranty Manufacturer Performance Standard, or notify the Installer/Representative/End-User if the claimed defect is not a warrantied item. ANY UNAUTHORIZED REPAIRS MADE BY YOU OR SOMEONE UNDER YOUR DIRECTION, OTHER THAN THOSE PERMITTED TO DO SO, WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED OR COMPENSATED. THE DECISION AND DETERMINATION AS TO THE EXTENT OF EXPENSES THAT ARE REIMBURSABLE UNDER THE WARRANTY 7

9 FOR EMERGENCY CONDITIONS IS THE SOLE DISCRETION OF SUREGUIDE IF NECESSARY. F. Warranty Limit The Warranty Limit is set to the value of the individual unit cost at time of purchase. The SureGuide Belt Tracking Return Roller carries a 24 month limited warranty from date of manufacture which is linked to the serial number engraved on the shaft end. The Troughing SureGuide Belt Tracking frame carries a 24 month limited Warranty and the rubber lagged rollers and sensor rollers carry a 12 month warranty. At no time will the warranty extend to any kind of consequential loss of any kind whatsoever. A product repaired under warranty is warranted for the remainder of the original warranty. G. Construction, Performance Standards and Systems SureGuide Belt Tracking Return Roller Warranty of the SureGuide extends to all parts on the physical roller, its bearings, seals, shaft, rubber lagging quality and adhesion, fasteners and other propriety working parts. Troughing SureGuide Belt Tracking Frame (TSG) Warranty of the TSG extends to all parts of the frame and its rollers, the welding seams, brackets, bearings, bushes, linkages, fasteners and other propriety parts. H. Exclusions SureGuide Roller (SG) 1. Rubber Lagging wear is excluded. 2. Corrosion to the product is excluded, unless specific corrosion protective coatings were specified on the original order. 3. Shaft where the roller has been overloaded and the shaft is bent. 4. Damage of any kind to the Rubber lagged steel pipe which makes up the outer roller. Whether this is due to installation, due to running conditions or removal of the product from the conveyor /

10 5. Any damage caused to the roller by running in or against any material other than the return side of the conveyor. E.g. Spillage build up, parts of the conveyor structure etc. 6. Warranty excludes the accuracy of the products fitment to the structure unless it is deemed to be a SABS 1313:1997 design structure or unless dimensions were submitted with original order and a drawing with part number was submitted for this design and this part number is reflected in the original purchase order. Troughing SureGuide Frame (TSG) 1. Rubber Lagging wear to the carrying roller idlers is excluded. 2. Wear to the outer shell of the sensor rollers is excluded. 3. Corrosion to the product is excluded, unless specific corrosion protective coatings were specified on the original order. 4. Damage of any kind to the steel frame. Whether this is due to installation, due to running conditions or removal of the product from the conveyor unless it is due to the direct failure of any one of the roller idlers and only wear or damage caused by the conveyor belt itself will be accepted. 5. Any damage caused to the frame by running in or against any material other than the troughing side of the conveyor. E.g. Spillage build up, parts of the conveyor structure etc. 6. Deformation of the frame and or premature failure of the roller idlers caused by overloading of the frame and or its roller idlers. 7. Warranty excludes the accuracy of the products fitment to the structure unless it is deemed to be a SABS 1313:1997 design structure or unless dimensions were submitted with original order and a drawing with part number was submitted for this design and this part number is reflected in the original purchase order
