4 INTRODUCTION Congratulations on purchasing a Full Boar Petrol Demolition Breaker. Your Full Boar Petrol Demolition Breaker FBT-2000 has been designed for heavy duty breaking and chipping of concrete, block and masonry products. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WARNING! When using this equipment, basic safety precautions, including the following, should always be followed to reduce risk of fire, electric shock, personal injury and material damage. Read and understand the manual prior to operating this tool. Save these instructions and other documents supplied with this tool for future reference. GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS WARNING! Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term power tool in the warnings refers to your petrol-operated power tool. 1. Work area safety a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c. Never run engine in an enclosed area. Exhaust gases contain deadly, poisonous carbon monoxide, which has no odour or taste. Exposure may cause loss of consciousness and may lead to death. d. Keep by-standers, children and visitors away while setting up demolition breaker. Distractions can result in mistakes. e. Keep the engine at least 1 metre (3 feet) away from buildings and other equipment during operation. Do not place flammable objects close to the engine. Procedure should be followed to prevent fire hazards and to provide adequate ventilation. 2. Personal safety a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. 4

5 GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS b. Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. c. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. d. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes and hard hat must be used for appropriate conditions. 3. Power tool use and care a. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. c. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. d. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. e. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. f. Always shut off the engine, allow the engine to cool and remove the spark plug before performing any maintenance. Such preventative measures reduce the risk of starting the demolition breaker accidentally. g. Never douse or squirt the unit with water or any other liquid. Keep handles dry and clean; free from oil and grease. Allows for better control of the power tool. 4. Service a. Demolition breaker service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified repair personnel could result in injury. b. When servicing a demolition breaker, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance Section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions may create a risk of injury and may void your warranty. 5

6 DEMOLITION BREAKER SAFETY WARNINGS Wear ear protectors. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss. Use auxiliary handle(s), if supplied with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injury. WARNING! This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Before using the demolition breaker, ensure there are no concealed power cables or pipes in the cavity. Always use the handles, this gives you greater control if the accessory should become jammed. Use thick cushioned gloves and limit the exposure time by taking frequent breaks. Vibration caused by the hammer action may be harmful to your hands and arms. When removing an accessory from the tool avoid contact with skin and use proper protective gloves when grasping the bit or accessory. Accessories may be hot after prolonged use. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. WARNING! Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction activities contain chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals are: Lead from lead-based paints; Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and other masonry products, and; Arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated timber. The risk from such exposures vary depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals; work in a well ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust masks that are specifically designed to filter out microscopic particles. Always wear eye protection and a dust mask for dusty applications and when drilling/chiselling overhead. Sanding particles can be absorbed by your eyes and inhaled easily and may cause health complications. 6

7 ASSEMBLY WARNING! Ensure the tool has been shut off and completely stopped before performing any of the following operations. Removing and Fitting the Chisel The Full Boar FBT-2000 comes with 2 chisel attachments that require fitting before starting the demolition breaker. IMPORTANT! Always lubricate the accessory fitment prior to inserting them into the demolition breaker. Using your finger, apply grease sparingly to the shaft of the accessory. Lubricating the accessory will prolong the life of your tool. Nonlubrication of accessories will void your warranty. 1. Pull the quick release bit lock out and rotate 180 degrees to free the chisel Fig Slide the chisel shank out of the accessory retainer. Fig To fit a chisel slide the accessory into the accessory retainer. Fig Secure the chisel in place by pulling the quick release bit lock out and rotate 180 degrees. Pull on the attachment to check that the chisel is secure. Note: The accessories will have a small amount (approx mm) of back and forth movement from the accessory holder, this is normal. Note: To avoid damage to the quick release bit lock, only use round hex shank bits. Damage caused to the bit lock by using incorrect accessories will not be covered under warranty Fig. 4 WARNING! 8 PRE-OPERATION CHECK Adding Fuel The 2-stroke demolition breaker requires a fuel mix of 40 parts of unleaded petrol (91 Octane) to 1 part 2-stroke engine oil. Ensure you are using the markings on the 40:1 side of the mixing bottle. 1. Pour unleaded petrol up to the top mark of the main compartment. Fig Pour 2-stroke oil up to the top mark of the small compartment. Fig Close both lids and rotate the mixing bottle to allow the oil to enter the main compartment. Shake the mixture thoroughly. Fig Remove the fuel tank cap and pour the fuel mixture into the demolition breaker up to the filler neck. 5. Once filled, ensure that the fuel tank cap is refitted tightly. Fig. 8 WARNING! Be careful not to spill fuel when refuelling. Spilled fuel or fuel vapour may ignite. If any fuel is spilled, make sure the area is dry before starting the engine. WARNING! Keep away from cigarettes, smoke and sparks when refuelling the demolition breaker. Always refuel in a well-ventilated location. 8

9 OPERATION Starting the Demolition Breaker 1. Press the priming bulb 10 times to prepare the carbueretor for starting. x10 Fig Close the choke lever by pushing it up towards. Fig Hold the demolition breaker handle firmly with one hand. With the other hand, pull slightly on the recoil starter until you feel resistance and then pull hard and swiftly. Do not let the recoil starter retract by itself, guide it back by hand. x4 Fig Repeat step 3 until the engine starts. Once started open the choke lever by pushing it down towards. Note: Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before changing the throttle speed. Fig. 12 x4 9

10 OPERATION Adjusting the Speed 1. To increase the speed push the throttle lever away with your thumb. INCREASE 2. To decrease the speed allow the throttle lever to retract. DECREASE Fig. 13 Stopping the Engine 1. Reduce the speed of the engine by allowing the throttle lever to retract. Fig Press the kill switch to shut off the engine. Note: Always wait for the attachment to stop moving before setting the tool down. Fig

11 KNOW OPERATION YOUR PRODUCT Cold Hammering If the demolition hammer is stored for long periods of time or at cold temperatures, the lubrication may become stiff and the demolition hammer may not hammer initially or the hammering may be weak. Should this occur, insert an accessory into the demolition hammer, turn the demolition hammer on and apply the end of the accessory against a scrap piece of concrete or timber. Turn the demolition hammer on and off every few seconds. After 15 seconds to 2 minutes, the demolition hammer should have started to hammer normally. The colder the demolition hammer, the longer it may take to warm up and function like normal. Note: Always wait until the accessory has stopped moving before putting down the demolition hammer. Fig. 16 Operating the Demolition Hammer For the best penetration rates in concrete, run the demolition hammer with a steady pressure, but do not use excessive force as this will decrease the efficiency of the demolition hammer. Do not use the flat chisel as a pry bar. Using the flat chisel for prying or pushing debris away from your work area will damage the flat chisel and potentially cause damage to your demolition hammer. Such damage will void your warranty. 11

12 MAINTENANCE KNOW YOUR PRODUCT After each use, blow air through the over the demolition breaker to ensure it is free from all dust particles which may build up. Build up of dust particles may cause the demolition breaker to overheat and fail. If the enclosure of the demolition breaker requires cleaning, do not use solvents but a moist soft cloth only. Never let any liquid get inside the demolition breaker; never immerse any part of the demolition breaker into a liquid. Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage or injuries caused by the repair of the demolition breaker by an unauthorised person or by mishandling of the demolition breaker. Re-sharpening the Chiselling Tools Good results are only achieved with sharp chisels, therefore sharpen the chiselling accessories regularly. This prolongs the service life of the tools and ensures good working performance. Sharpen chiselling tools using grinding wheels (e. g., ceramic bonded corundum wheel) with a steady supply of water. Recommended values for this purpose are shown below. Take care that no annealing coloration appears on the cutting edges, otherwise the hardness of the chiselling tools will be impaireden press the kill switch to shut off the engine Pointed Chisel 60 Flat Chisel Fig. 17 Changing Air Filter 1. To remove the air filter cover, unscrew the fixing screw then pull the air filter cover from the housing. 2. Remove and inspect the filter. It must be clean and intact, if it isn t replace the filter. 3. To reassemble, place the foam into the air filter cover and place the cover onto the housing. 4. Fix the air filter into place by tightening the fixing screw. 12

13 MAINTENANCE Spark plug removal, installation and inspection 1. Remove the spark plug lead. 2. Using the supplied spark plug wrench, remove the spark plug. 3. Clean the electrode with a metal brush and remove any carbon build-up. 4. Using a thickness gauge, check for the right gap ( mm) between the centre electrode and side electrode. 5. Refit the spark plug and tighten with the wrench. Crank Case Grease Replenishment The grease in the crank case will require replenishment after approximately 50 hours of accumulative use. After this time, add approximately 30 / 50 grams (approx 2-3 teaspoons) from the supplied tub of grease into the crank case. 1. Lay the demolition breaker on the ground and remove the grease cap bolt using the provided spanner. Fig Once removed, add the grease through this hole. Fig Screw the grease cap bolt back on securely. 15 TROUBLESHOOTING Symptom Accessory is falling out Solution Ensure that the accessory locking bolt has been rotated to the correct position. Engine starts but the demolition breaker does not operate. Engine starts but the demolition breaker does not operate at full capacity The chisel needs to be pushed down for the demolition breaker to start operating. Increase the throttle once the engine is warm. Tool temperature low Accessories not lubricated Refer to insert or Cold Hammering section for instructions on how to resolve this issue Check if the air filter need cleaning or replacing. Accessory is jammed/ stuck in concrete during use Accessory repeatedly becomes stuck while in use Engine will not start Release the accessory locking mechanism, allowing the demolition hammer to be separated from the accessory. The accessory should be easily removed from concrete once it is detached from the demolition hammer Free the accessory as described above. Refrain from penetrating too deeply with the chisel bit, as it is prone to becoming stuck when demolishing large pieces of concrete Ensure there is enough fuel in the fuel tank and the priming bulb has been pressed to allow petrol to enter the carburettor. Check to see if the spark plug needs cleaning or replacing. 15
