Throttle -- FULL OPEN Elevator control hold nosewheel just off runway surface Accelerate in ground effect to VX or VY as required and climb Flaps -- RETRACT after obstacles cleared SHORT FIELD LANDING: Flaps FULL DOWN (below 85 KIAS) Airspeed KIAS Elevator Trim -- ADJUST Power -- REDUCE to idle after last obstacle is cleared Touchdown -- MAIN WHEELS FIRST Flaps -- RETRACT Braking -- APPLY HEAVILY SOFT FIELD LANDING: Flaps FULL DOWN (below 85 KIAS) Airspeed KIAS Elevator Trim -- ADJUST Throttle -- Maintain approximately 1300 RPM to cushion touchdown Touchdown main wheels first Throttle gradually to idle after firmly touched down Hold the nosewheel off the runway for as long as possible Don t let the nosewheel slam down on to the surface. Flaps -- Retract only after the airplane is completely down. Braking -- Minimum necessary During taxi: minimize braking, hold the elevator full back, no sharp turns.
