I removed the side panel and folded the mat out of the way rather than cut the tabs on the circle (see picture of mat). To remove the side panel, pull on the panel near the door gasket and the panel will come free, then lower the upper rear seat section and you will see the anchor point holding the panel on the top, Remove the panel by lifting up and out.
2 Page 2 of 11 3.Now you can see the pump metal cover, remove the three Phillips screws and remove cover. You will now see the top of the pump. Vacuum any debris around pump before attempting to remove.

4 Page 4 of 11 4.Loosen fuel line clamp, with a rag rapped around the line pull fuel line off of connector. You may need to twist the line to get it loose enough to pull off, disconnect electrical connections. 5.Take a blunt instrument and a hammer and tap on the hold down nut tabs gently in a counter clockwise direction. Alternate from side to side and the nut will loosen.
5 Page 5 of 11 6.Pull pump out of tank, the gasket is a little snug so grab each side and work it out of the tank. The fit is kind of tight when sliding the unit out of the tank due to the sending unit on the left side, just take your time and wiggle it out. 7.At this point I am installing a new pump in the old carrier (If you are installing a complete assembly skip to next step). Pull the rubber mounts out of the holder, disconnect the hose & the electrical connections and you now have the pump still in the holder separated from the carrier. Watch the sending unit while handling the carrier to prevent damaging it. There are two tabs preventing the old
6 Page 6 of 11 pump from sliding out of the holder. There is actually a sleeve at the top of the holder that locks in the pump, as you can see from the pic I hacked the tabs. If you look closely you can see the holder is two pieces. You may try twisting the top sleeve to free the tabs before attempting to pull the pump out of the holder.
7 Page 7 of 11 8.Now that you have the old pump out of the holder, slide the new pump in lining up the suction port on the bottom of the pump and slide the sleeve onto the top. The pump should be positioned so that the fuel line connection is facing you and the electrical connectors are in the back. Make all connections then secure rubber tabs in carrier. If you do not have the correct orientation you will now it as the rubber tabs will not line up properly. Remove the rubber cap on the pump suction and Install the screen. The longest part of the screen should be facing the trunk.
8 Page 8 of 11 9.Now line the pump carrier up so the fuel line is at the top, slide the sending unit float in first then slide the carrier the rest of the way into the tank. The bottom of the rubber gasket will get in your way so work your way around the opening tucking the gasket into the tank opening. Once you get the bottom of the gasket into the tank opening there is a second ridge on the gasket, work your way around the carrier pushing down and you will feel the carrier pop in a little at a time until it is flat and in position.
9 Page 9 of Now place the nut on and tighten as far as you can by hand then use the same method used to loosen to get a little extra torque. 11.Reconnect fuel line and electrical connections and start the car to make sure all is good before continuing assembly.
10 Page 10 of 11 Notes: Pump is from High Flow Fuel Part # HFP 439 $70. Buying a new plastic nut and gasket is an option as they are cheap enough and good insurance. I connected the electrical connections and went to get a hose clamp, when I returned 30 seconds later there was fuel all over the top of the pump & tank so connect the fuel line and connectors at the same time This link is to entire photo album.
