1 7 Year / Unlimited Kilometre Warranty - Private / General Fleet & Government KIA Motors Australia (KMAU) provide a SEVEN YEAR UNLIMITED KILOMETRE WARRANTY against defects arising in materials or manufacture for private and general fleet and Government (sold from the 1st October 2014). KIA warrants the vehicle against defects arising in materials or manufacture except where items are expressly excluded or for which a separate warranty applies. This is subject to the terms and conditions detailed in this MANUAL, including the sections on What is not Covered and Owner s Responsibility. This Unlimited Kilometre Warranty does NOT apply to vehicles used at any time during the warranty period for commercial use, including but not limited to those used as a taxi, bus and tour vehicles, hire car, rental vehicle, security vehicles, courier, or driving school vehicle. Commercial use vehicles are limited to a one hundred and fifty thousand (150,000) kilometre warranty. In addition, the Unlimited Kilometre Warranty does not apply to a vehicle which at any time during the warranty period has been registered on Australian roads in commercial use applications. The owner may be required to provide service records, evidence of usage history for the owner and previous owner/s and other vehicle records to establish the vehicles warranty status and that the vehicle has not been operated for commercial use. 7 Year Body Corrosion Warranty - Passenger (Private) Vehicles For passenger vehicles, any body panel that contains a physical hole (from the inside out) through a body panel due to corrosion, caused as a result of a manufacturing fault, is covered by the KIA New Vehicle Warranty for a period of 7 years. 7 Year Exterior Paint Durability and Finish Excludes defects defined as scaling, surface rust, blistering, scab, corrosion and fading that may result from insufficient or improper maintenance or care. 1 Year Paint Appearance Warranty Any Paint application defects, such as overspray, low gloss, mismatch, mottling, cloudiness, runs, fish eye, pin holes, slow drying, thin paint waving, tape mark, touch up, dust or dirt in the paint will be covered by
2 * Note:- Paint warranty does not apply for paint defects arising from stone or similar chipping, tree sap, hail damage, windstorm damage, chemical/industrial fallout, salt spray, bird/animal droppings, or any other environmental condition. Battery Warranty The original battery is fully covered for the first 12 months of the KIA New Vehicle Warranty period regardless of kilometres. Tyre Warranty The KIA New Car Warranty does not cover tyres. Tyres are covered by the express warranties of their respective manufacturers or suppliers and any claim for tyres should be directed to the nearest tyre. Air Conditioning Refrigerant Warranty The air conditioner refrigerant charge is covered for the first 12 months of the KIA New Vehicle Warranty period regardless of kilometres. Over the balance of the KIA New Vehicle Warranty period refrigerant charge is covered only when replenished as part of a warranty repair. Parts and Accessory Warranty KIA Parts and Accessories Installed at the time of a retail sale of a new motor vehicle are covered by the KIA New Vehicle Warranty applicable to your vehicle, depending on the vehicle s use. If the accessories are installed after the retail sale, they will be covered for the remainder of the new vehicle warranty period or 12 months, which is ever the greater. KIA replacement service parts installed at the owner s cost after the vehicle s warranty has expired are covered by Parts Warranty for 1 year or 20,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first. Towing If a component covered by the KIA New Vehicle Warranty fails as a result of poor workmanship or materials, rendering the vehicle immobile or undriveable, cost of towing to the nearest authorised KIA dealer is generally covered under warranty. Prior authorisation must be obtained from the repairing KIA Dealer. Transfer of Warranty This warranty is transferable to the new owner whenever the vehicle is sold.
3 The new owner must complete the Change of Owner Advice Form and forward the completed form to KIA Motors Australia. The warranty may NOT be transferred to another vehicle under any circumstances. The warranty will be voided in the event of the vehicle being Written Off (that is, the vehicle has been damaged to the extent that renders repair of the vehicle impractical or uneconomic) or disposed of by an insurer. Non Genuine Accessories Kia Motors Australia does not recommend the fitment of non genuine, unapproved or unauthorised accessories. Kia Genuine Accessories are designed and engineered to provide correct fitment and durability, as well as ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. Non genuine, unapproved or unauthorised accessories are not covered by the KIA New Vehicle Warranty. In the event of a concern please refer to the express warranties of the respective manufacturers or suppliers. Limited Liability To the extent allowable by law, the liability of KMAU under this warranty is limited solely to the repair or replacement of parts defective in material or workmanship. Such replacement or repair is to be carried out by a KIA Dealer at its place of business, and specifically does not include any expenses, consequential loss, indirect loss, economic loss, loss of revenue or special loss, which are not reasonably foreseeable that may arise from any defect of a vehicle. Other Terms This warranty is given in lieu of all other express warranties (except those set forth separately in this manual) on the part of KMAU or KIA. No dealer, or any agent or employee thereof, or any other person, is authorised to extend or enlarge upon the terms of this warranty. KMAU shall not be liable for any incidental, indirect, economic loss, loss of revenue, special loss, consequential loss or exemplary damages. What is not covered The items specified below are not covered by the KIA New Vehicle Warranty: Damage due to factors beyond the manufacturer s control, including but not limited to - Misuse of the KIA vehicle, such as driving over curbs, overloading, racing etc. (proper usage is described in your Owner s Manual). Accidents, such as collision, fire, theft, riot, etc.
4 Alteration, modifications, tampering, etc. Impact damage, surface corrosion or cosmetic conditions, resulting from or due to, but not limited to, stone chips or scratches in paintwork or damage to glass. Damage due to Lack of proper maintenance as described in your Owner s Manual. Improper maintenance or the use of other than the specified fuel, oil or lubricants as recommended in your Owner s Manual. Normal deterioration Normal wear, tear or deterioration such as discolouration, fading, deformation etc on both internal and external vehicle components. Surface corrosion on any part other than the body sheet- metal panels forming the exterior appearance of a KIA vehicle (Exhaust, suspension and similar components). Any defects caused by repairs or parts replacement by other than an authorised KIA dealer. Defects which are caused by or attributable to modifications not carried out by or at the direction of KIA. Defects which are caused by or attributable to the use of non genuine KIA parts or accessories. Any damage which is considered part of normal maintenance service, such as cleaning and polishing, replenishment or replacement of oil, fluids, coolant, wiper blades, fan belts, filters, brake and clutch linings, spark plugs, electric bulbs, gaskets and so on, as a result of normal wear and tear. Maintenance services described as Scheduled Maintenance Service, Owner Maintenance Service or Appearance Care in your Owner s Manual. Various adjustments, such as brake and clutch adjustment, adjustment of head lamps, wheel alignment, tyre balancing and rotation, engine adjustment etc. Noises or vibrations of low amplitude or frequency which are considered to be representative of the characteristics of the vehicle. Slight oozing of oil or fluids from seals and/or gaskets which cause no material decrease in the level of such fluids. Panel gaps which are considered to be representative of manufacturer s design intent. Appearance defects which are not apparent unless magnified or which are considered to be of minor cosmetic nature and having no affect upon the general appearance or quality of the vehicle or, which are representative of the standard of finish accepted by the manufacturer.
5 Deterioration, staining or corrosion of plated parts, paint coatings, rubber or plastic components or soft trim which occur due to normal exposure, general wear and tear and usage. Paint and corrosion defects arising from Accident, Misuse, Stone chips or similar damage, Tree sap, Hail damage, Storm damage, Chemical or industrial fallout, Salt spray, Bird or animal droppings, Any other environmental condition. Any damage due to flood damage, storm damage, water damage, natural disasters or damage due to similar environmental circumstances/conditions. Exhaust System corrosion (excluding manifolds). Corrosion due to incorrect service or maintenance of the radiator, brake and clutch hydraulic system components. Oxygen Sensor (O2) and/or Catalytic Converters which have a limited service life expectancy. Wheel rims and tyres as a result of impact damage. The breakage or scratching of glass occurring after delivery of the vehicle to the customer. Any repair of a KIA vehicle on which the odometer has been altered or on which the actual distance travelled cannot be readily determined. Defects deemed by KIA or their representatives as being attributable to the failure to adhere to requirements regarding periodic maintenance service. Any economic loss which is not a reasonably foreseeable loss. This may include, without limitation, consequential loss, incidental loss, indirect loss, economic loss, loss of revenue, special loss and other expenses or damage Kia Connect Program The Kia Connect Program will continue to operate, as detailed below Capped Price Servicing Capped Price Servicing will apply for the first 7 services up to 7 years and/or 105,000 km. The 7 years will cover all vehicles currently included in the Kia Connect program, an extension of 2 years or 30,000 kilometres for vehicle s already sold. For T- GDI (Turbo GDI) vehicles, the 6 month / 7,500 km services are also included Complimentary First Service The complementary first service will continue to be offered at 3 months / 3,000 km. Kia Roadside Assistance A basic Roadside Assistance (RSA) package is still included for the first year.
6 This can be extended to the full 7 years if returned to an authorised Kia Service Department for renewal in conjunction with the scheduled servicing. Capped Price Servicing Terms & Conditions These Terms and Conditions govern the operation of the program at authorised Kia dealers and are effective from 01/10/ The program will provide the opportunity to obtain a capped price service for the first 7 x 15,000km interval standard scheduled services only. 14 x 7,500km interval standard scheduled services for T- GDI (Petrol Turbo) vehicles. 2. The program covers the cost of the genuine parts, lubricants and labour involved in servicing the vehicle for the first seven (7) (fourteen (14) for T- GDI equipped vehicles) manufacturer s standard scheduled maintenance services (7 years or 105,000km, whichever occurs first). 3. The program s scheduled maintenance servicing is only applicable to new vehicles sold after the 01/08/ The program applies from the Manufacturer s Warranty start date as set out in the Owner Service and Warranty Manual (or recorded on Kia s database) for up to seven (7) years or the first one hundred and five thousand (105,000) kilometres of driving, whichever occurs first 5. Expiry date/km for the program is ninty (90) months or one hundred and ten thousand (110,000) km after the warranty start date of the vehicle. 6. The program is only applicable to vehicles imported and distributed by Kia Motors Australia and sold through authorised participating Kia dealers. 7. The program can be carried out at any authorised participating Kia dealer service department Australia wide. 8. GST is included in the price. 9. The program s scheduled maintenance servicing does not include additional maintenance or repair for wear and tear items such as tyres, brake pads, bulbs, drive belts and fluid top ups between services, etc. 10. You cannot claim both a specified distance service and the corresponding time period service separately. 11. The program applies only to the standard scheduled maintenance services as outlined in the Service and Warranty Manual and excludes supplementary maintenance services. 12. The program s scheduled maintenance servicing does not include additional maintenance and repairs that may be recommended by your Kia dealer to suit your particular driving conditions. Your Kia dealer will advise if any such additional items require attention prior to the works being undertaken. Your consent will be requested before your authorised Kia dealer completes those additional works. 13. Servicing conducted under the program must be carried out in line with the manufacturer s time and kilometre recommendations.
7 14. Service due dates are taken from the warranty start date of the vehicle. 15. The program provides a capped price for each of the scheduled services: labour; parts (subject to parts listed in the specific Kia service schedule in the Owner s Manual) lubricants; and sundries, but only to the extent the above items are covered by the relevant scheduled service. 16. The program does not cover items that require replacement or repair due to excess wear and tear, misuse or a lack of maintenance as described in the Service and Warranty Manual. 17. Any form of tuning or modification to your vehicle will invalidate the program, without the need for evidence that the tuning or modification has adversely affected your vehicle. 18. The program is assigned to the vehicle and not the owner. Therefore the program scheduled maintenance servicing is transferable to subsequent owners but cannot be transferred to another vehicle. 19. If any scheduled maintenance service is missed, when your vehicle is presented for its next scheduled maintenance service the cost may revert back to the individual dealer servicing costs. Additional work may also be required (at additional cost). 20. The capped prices for each scheduled service may be amended from time to time to reflect changes such as the cost of labour, parts, lubricants and other materials. Please check with your authorised Kia dealer to confirm the capped price for your next scheduled service at the time of booking. 21. The complimentary Roadside Assistance provided when the vehicle is returned for service under the program is only applicable for vehicles less than 5 years from the warranty start date. 22. These Terms and Conditions may be amended from time to time. Amendments will be published on the Kia website and will take effect immediately on publication. Roadside Assist Terms & Conditions Kia Roadside Assistance is provide for 12 months from the date of the vehicles warranty commencement, or 12 months from the date you return to a participating Kia dealer for a scheduled service under the Kia Connect capped price service program. Your vehicle must be in a well maintained and sound mechanical and roadworthy condition. The provision of benefits and services under Kia Roadside Assistance is subject to: Resources available in the area Any circumstances beyond our control (including but not limited to extraordinary delays caused by extreme weather conditions such as snow fall and flooding)
8 Circumstances reasonably considered to be a force majeure event Location being trafficable by a two- wheel- drive recovery vehicle Severe traffic congestion Restricted Access Area requirements We are not responsible for any costs arising from work carried out by a referral to a Kia dealer, and all repairs and costs for repairs undertaken by the repairer are your responsibility. We have no obligation to pay for costs incurred in service calls where your vehicle is immobile in a workshop undergoing service or repairs, or undergoing mechanical or electrical service or repairs at your premises. Exclusions and Limitations The provision of benefits and services under Kia Roadside Assistance is subject to the following exclusions: Vehicles over eight years of age Your vehicle being left unattended Your vehicle being unregistered Your vehicle is involved or connected to any form of motor sports Any caravan or trailer that is towed by your vehicle Your vehicle operating as taxi, rental vehicle, limousine, or hire vehicle Service calls for your vehicle due to vehicle abuse or neglect (as reasonably determined by us) Service calls for your vehicle due to failure to use reasonable care with your vehicle or failure to conduct regular preventative vehicle maintenance or provision of inappropriate repair or maintenance to your vehicle Repeated service calls for your vehicle due to owner/driver faults, or failure by you to comply with our instructions Service calls for your vehicle due to accident damage Service calls due to break- in (or attempted break- in) of your vehicle Service calls due to fitment of non- genuine accessories or inappropriate or incorrect fitment of parts or accessories Your vehicle being located in a remote location (this is deemed as being a location not trafficable by a two- wheel drive recovery vehicle) or your vehicle is located in a Restricted Access Area or not within a Service Area Your vehicle being immobilised due to inappropriate maintenance, repair or use, caused intentionally or by negligence on the part of the owner, the driver or any other third party Bogged vehicles. Except where access is available and is trafficable by a two- wheel drive recovery vehicle and no other specialist equipment is necessary. Should specialist equipment become necessary, additional costs are the driver s responsibility. Drivers will be advised of this condition prior to attendance by our Service Provider and service is at our discretion. Change of Ownership If you sell your Kia whilst you are member of Kia Roadside Assistance, your membership can be transferred to the new owner. This service is transferable but not refundable. Consequential Loss Kia Motors Australia, Assist Australia Pty Ltd and each of their contractors or agents will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage whatsoever arising out of the provision or
9 failure to provide any benefits and services under Kia Roadside Assistance whether as a result of any negligent or wilful act or omission or howsoever arising. Important Information To the extent permitted by the law, neither Kia Motors Corporation nor Kia Motors Australia or Motorama Kia shall be liable to any person as result of reliance on the content of this brochure.
