APPLIED VEHICLE: 2007 G35 Sedan (V36) APPLIED VIN / DATE: Vehicles built before: JNKBV61 E (*) 7M / 03-Jul-2007 (without Intelligent Cruise Control) JNKBV61 F (*) 7M / 03-Jul-2007 (without Intelligent Cruise Control) JNKBV61 E (*) 7M / 10-Jul-2007 (with Intelligent Cruise Control) JNKBV61 F (*) 7M / 10-Jul-2007 (with Intelligent Cruise Control) IF YOU CONFIRM: A customer reports experiencing a small speed fluctuation when in cruise control and traveling downhill. ACTIONS: Confirm this bulletin applies: Check and compare your Current ECM Part Number to Table A on page 6. If that part number does not match one in Table A, this bulletin does not apply. Go back to ASIST for further diagnostic and repair information. If applicable, reprogram the ECM. AND If the vehicle is equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), replace the ICC Distance Sensor NOTE: This vehicle s ECM is reprogrammed using CONSULT-III (C-III). Instructions on how to use C-III to perform reprogramming are contained in the attached Service Procedure. IMPORTANT: The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. (2) FRT allows adequate time to access DTC codes and reprogram ECM. No other diagnostic procedures subsequently required do NOT claim any Diagnostic Op Codes with this claim. And, IF applicable: DESCRIPTION OP CODE FRT RPL ICC Distance Sensor PP34AA (3) (3) Reference the current Infiniti Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the indicated FRT. SERVICE PROCEDURE NOTES: The C-III PCMCIA Card Adapter with the C-III Security Card must be in the ASIST / C-III / Toughbook PC before starting this procedure. C-III automatically gets applicable ECM reprogramming data from ASIST.net on the Toughbook PC. Be sure ASIST.net on the Toughbook PC has been freshly Synchronized (Updated) and all C-III software updates (if any) have been run. 1. Connect the Vehicle Interface (VI) cable to the vehicle and place the VI body on the instrument panel top, next to the windshield. CAUTION: DO NOT use the USB cable to connect the Toughbook PC and VI. For ECM reprogramming the Toughbook PC MUST connect to the VI using the built-in wireless connectivty, which happens in step Connect the AC Adapter to the Toughbook PC, and place the PC on a workbench nor more than five (5) meters (16 feet) away from the VI. CAUTION: Be sure to connect the AC Adapter. If PC battery voltage drops during reprogramming the process will be interrupted. 3. Connect a battery charger, set at a low rate trickle charge ( V) to the vehicle battery. CAUTION: If vehicle battery voltage drops during reprogramming the ECM may be damaged. 4. With the parking brake set, your foot not on the brake pedal, and the transmission in Neutral or Park press the ignition button twice to move the ignition position to ON. Do not start or try to have the engine running during this procedure. 5. Open ASIST on the Toughbook PC. 6. Select CONSULT Utilities, and select CONSULT-III. 7. Wait for the Detecting VI/MI in progress message to clear. 2/10

4 13. Make sure the correct vehicle is displayed. (See Figure 3) 14. Select Confirm. (See Figure 3) Figure Once the System Call completes and CAN Diagnosis reach 51%, the DTC Diagnosis symbol will light up (see Figure 4). Select it when it lights up. 5 16. If there are no DTC detected, select the Repair wrench symbol. (See Figure 5) NOTE: If any DTC are detected their repair are not covered in this bulletin. 6 18. Refer to Figure 7 and your C-III screen If the number in the Part Number column matches one from the Current ECM P/Ns column in Table A below, this bulletin applies. Write the Current ECM P/N from C-III on the Repair Order for future warranty reference. Click on the Part Number line then continue to 19. If the number in the Part Number column does not match one from the Current ECM column in Table A below or the Part Number line is blank, this bulletin does not apply. 7 NOTE: If the screen in Figure 8 appears, there is data stored in the VI. Select Yes to proceed with Reprogramming. ********************** Figure Select Start Data Transmission (see Figure 9). CAUTION: During steps 20 through 24 DO NOT DISTURB the VI, DDL connection, try to start the engine, or turn the vehicle ignition off during these operations, ECM damage may occur. 20 Figure 9 7/10

8 21. The screen in Figure 10 shows during automatic data transfer and temporary storage into the VI. NOTE: During steps 21 through 24 the engine fans may turn on and run. This is normal. Figure The screen in Figure 11 shows during VI-stored data automatic integrity check. Figure 11 8/10

9 23. The screen in Figure 12 shows when the VI is transferring reprogramming data to the ECM Figure When the screen in Figure 13 appears, ECM reprogramming is complete. Print this page using the browser print symbol and attach it to the Repair Order for Warranty documentation. Figure 13 9/10

10 25. Turn the ignition "OFF". 26. Wait more than 10 seconds, then with your foot NOT pressing either the brake (A/T) or clutch (M/T) pedal; a. Turn the ignition "ON" for 2 seconds, then b. Turn the ignition "OFF" again for 10 seconds (see Figure 14). This will reset ECM self learned Data. Ignition key "ON" 2 Sec. 2 Sec. Ignition key "OFF" 10 Sec. 10 Sec. Figure 14 TP030626b 27. Start the engine and check the idle speed. If idle speed is too low, perform Idle Air Volume Learning (IAVL). See the appropriate Service Manual (ESM) for this procedure. NOTE: If the engine will not idle, hold the engine RPM at about 2000, then slowly bring it down to an idle. IAVL can now be performed. 28. Confirm the engine is operating normally. 29. Make sure the MIL is OFF. If the MIL comes ON, use C-III to erase any DTC s that may have stored during the reprogramming procedure. 30. For Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) models ONLY: Replace the ICC Distance Sensor with the applicable one from the Parts Information table in this bulletin. 10/10
