To the User: Read the points listed below before installation and use of equipment. Whale Watermaster The Whale Watermaster pump which you have just purchased has been designed to make easier, the connection of an outside water supply to the caravan water system. The Whale Watermaster comprises of a wall socket, plug complete with hose and submersible pump. The plug and socket combine both the water and electric connections. Designed for pumping fresh water into the caravan, the Whale Watermaster is also capable of supplying water to a water heater. Installation When looking for a suitable location to fit the Whale Watermaster, the following points should be considered: 1. The submersible pump should reach the bottom of the water container. 2. There should be access to the back of the socket, especially if using the pressure switched model. 3. Ideally, the Watermaster should be fitted close to the water heater or kitchen sink. 4. Avoid long runs of pipework. Tape template enclosed to the outside of the van as in Fig.1. Drill 4 pilot holes and also the 4 securing holes - see template for sizes.

Attach hoses using appropriate adaptor (Fig. 3).! Connect wiring as per diagram (Fig. 4). Non-pressure switch model (EL8810/EL9210) - Attach negative lead to No.1 terminal and positive to No.3 terminal. Pressure switch model (EL8814/EL9214) - Attach negative wire to No.1 terminal and positive wire via isolator switch to No. 2 terminal. 3 Operation Priming: 1. Open one cold tap (eg. kitchen sink). 2. Place pump into water container (Fig.5). 3. Insert plug into wall socket. 4. Adjust dust cover over opening in container (please note dust cover should not be secured to water container as air must be allowed to enter container to replace water being pumped out). 5. Switch on 12 volt supply at main panel (isolator switch). 6. Water will flow from the open tap expelling any trapped air in a few seconds. 7. Turn off tap, the system is now ready for use. Pump hose can be inserted into groove on plug to keep pump off ground while refilling water container (Fig.6). The submersible pump can be run for quite long periods when in water, but it is recommended that running periods should be restricted to a maximum of 15 minutes. Do not run the pump without water. Do not use the pump in water temperatures above 40ºC (100ºF). It is best to stand the pump vertically in the tank. Microswitch or phosphor bronze contacts can be removed for inspection or replacement (see exploded drawing Fig.7). Pressure Switch Model The pressure switch is adjusted before leaving the factory, however should it require adjustment please see enclosed instruction sheet Adjusting Your Pressure Switch (180.10). The Pressure Switch is sensitive to drops in battery voltage. As battery voltage falls, should the unit need adjustment, turn anticlockwise.

5 Helpful Hints To obtain efficient running and maximum life, ensure the following: 1. There is sufficient water in the container - do not run the pump when dry. 2. Maximum pumping period is not more than 15 minutes. 3. All hose connections are firm and water tight. 4. The power supply is adequate - low performance could result from a weak battery or reduced voltage due to thin wiring (we recommend wiring should be a minimum thickness of 2.5mm). 5. When replenishing the water supply, it is possible to create an air lock in the pump. As a result, the pump will run noisily and give no discharge. To remedy, unplug socket to dislodge the air pocket in the pump. Also shaking the dual hose gently may dislodge the air pocket in the pump, or switch off pump at main panel, open a tap outlet and switch pump on again at the main panel. Whale recommends that a spare pump should always be carried. Warranty Whale pumps are guaranteed for one year from date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. If the unit proves faulty, return it to your supplier with proof of purchase and purchase date. Winterising To protect against damage as a result of freezing, drain the entire water sytem. Fault Finding (a) If the pump will not run:! Check contacts in plug and socket are clean and making contact.! Check wiring connections.! On model with pressure switch fitted, microswitch could be faulty. Take connection off No. 2 terminal and connect to No. 3 terminal (See Fig.4). If the pump operates now, the microswitch should be replaced.! On switched tap version, disconnect wires from tap microswitch and join together. If pump operates, then fault is with microswitch and should be replaced (see tap instructions). (b) If the pump cycles on/off (pressure switch model) with tap closed:! Check for air or water leaks in taps and piping. Readjust pressure switch.! Non-return valve may be held open by grit. Push suitable blunt object into the socket nipple against the non-return valve (see exploded view Fig.7) holding valve open to dislodge trapped grit. (c) If pump motor runs steadily and will not stop:! Check that there is water in the container! Battery voltage may be too low (at or below 10.5 volts). Adjust switch and/or recharge battery.! Check all connections in pipework. Notice This product is designed for use with water. If it is intended for use with any other liquid, it is the user s responsibility to ensure that the materials are fully compatible with the liquids to be used and that a system of safe working practice is applied to installation, use and maintenance.

6 A planned maintenance schedule of regular inspection is recommended, replacing components as necessary. Replacement components are available in service kits from dealers or directly from Whale.
