Small droplets can be produced by turning up the atomizing air at the gun, and thinning the material mixture.to create larger droplets, turn down the gun air and/or use a thicker mud mixture. 3 Allowing time between the spray application and knocking the finish down will produce a finish with higher profile and greater reveal. 4 If using a dry powder material, always pour water into the mixing container first, then slowly add dry powder while mixing to a uniform consistency. 5 Always begin working at low material pressures. Slowly raise the pressure, but only to the minimum pressure required for a successful application. Using too much pressure can cause aggregated materials to pack out. 6 To ensure that aggregated acrylic and elastomeric coatings are stable enough for spraying, mix the material and let it rest for 30 minutes. Unstable materials will have large amounts of liquid at the top, indicating that they are not capable of holding the aggregate in suspension. 7 If you are spraying chemical cure products, pay close attention to the material s set time and ensure that you fully flush the system before it begins to set up. 19
