WARNING! Before you carry out any repairs or servicing work on the mower, you must ensure that the blade is not turning and that the spark plug cap is disconnected and moved away from the spark plug. The lawnmower shall not be operated without either the entire grass collection catcher or the guard in place. Fig. D1 Fig. D2 OPERATION INSTRUCTION 1. BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE CAUTION! The following procedures and adjustments must be performed before the engine is started. Do not attempt to make any of these adjustments with the engine is running. 2. OIL TYPE Always use high quality detergent oil classified SAE 30 oil. Never use additives with recommended oil. To prolong the life of your engine it is important that the oil is changed after the first 5 hours of use -refer to Maintenance. 9

3. FUEL TYPE Always use clean, fresh unleaded petrol. Purchase fuel in quantities that can be used within 30 days. Never mix oil with petrol. Fill to base of neck to allow for fuel expansion. Do not overfill the fuel tank. 4. FILLING WITH ENGINE OIL (See Fig. E-F) CAUTION! To prevent engine damage the engine is shipped without oil or petrol. The engine must be filled with the correct grade of oil and petrol before starting the engine. Maximum oil capacity 0.6L Do not overfill! Check the engine oil level with the engine stopped and the mower on a level surface. 1) Remove the oil filler dipstick and wipe oil from it with a clean cloth (Fig. E). 2) Insert the dipstick into the oil filler neck, screw it in and then screw it out. 3) Check the oil level. The oil level must between the Min and Max marks on the dipstick (Fig. F). If near the lower level, fill to upper level with the recommended oil (SAE30). Do not overfill. Wipe away any spilt oil. NOTE: Running the engine with a low oil level will cause engine damage. Recommend use of high detergent, premium quality 4-stroke engine oil. Use of non-detergent oil can shorten the engine s service life and using 2-stroke oil will damage the engine. Fig. E Fig. F 5. FILLING WITH FUEL WARNING! Petrol is highly inflammable and extreme precaution must be taken when handling or working with it. Keep out of reach of children. 1) Clean the area around the fuel tank cap (7) before removing the cap. For first time use, remove the warning label and check oil level before starting the engine. 10

2) Refill the tank if the fuel level is low. Refuel carefully to avoid overfilling or spilling fuel. There should be no fuel in the tank neck. 3) Clean up any overflow or splash of petrol before starting the engine. 4) Tighten the tank cap securely after filling. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped. Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area where the engine is being refueled or where petrol is stored. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact with skin or breathing of vapor. NOTE: Petrol should be stored in an approved container. Never buy or store more than 30 days supply of petrol. Do not mix oil with petrol. 6. STARTING THE ENGINE (See Fig. G-H) WARNING! Do not operate the machine in a closed or poorly ventilated area as the exhaust gas contains poisonous substance. Keep hands, feet, hair and clothing away from all the moving parts of the machine. The exhaust and other parts of the machine will become hot during use. Make sure that the blade is securely fastened before starting the engine. NOTE: To start the engine, make sure that the spark plug cap (10) is located on the spark plug and the machine is filled with sufficient oil and petrol. Step1: Throttle lever (2)-STARTING (See Fig. G) For starting a cold engine, move the throttle lever to the START position. For starting a warm engine, move the throttle level to the RUN position. Run Stop Start Fig. G 11

Step2: Pull starter handle (20) (See Fig. H1-H2) Fig. H1 Fig. H2 Step3: Throttle lever (2)-IDLE SPEED Once the engine is running, move the throttle level to the position RUN (See Fig. G). Clear a flooded engine If the engine won t start after operating the starter several times, the engine may be flooded with excess fuel. Use the following procedure to clear and start a flooded engine. 1) Move the throttle level to STOP (See Fig. G). 2) Remove the spark plug, dry it, and then reinstall it. NOTE: Install the spark plug carefully by hand, to avoid crossthreading. After the plug is seated, tighten 1/8 to1/4 turn with socket spanner of spark plug to compress the washer. TIP: If your engine is severely flooded you can remove spark plug with the throttle lever set to STOP and briskly pull the starter rope several times. This will help clear any excess fuel still in combustion chamber. Install the spark plug and repeat steps 3) and 4) 3) Move the throttle level to START position. 4) Operate the starter as described above. 7. STOPPING THE ENGINE Move the throttle lever to the STOP position (See Fig. G). 12

8. ADJUSTING THE CUTTING HEIGHT (See Fig. I) WARNING! STOP THE ENGINE, AND WAIT FOR BLADE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. The blades continue to rotate after the machine is switched off, a rotating blade can cause injury. CAUTION: Do not touch rotating blades. For the first mow of the season, a high cutting adjustment should be selected. The lawnmower can be set to 7 cutting Fig. I heights between 20mm and 70mm. For this purpose, move the cutting height adjustment lever (16) outwards then adjusted to the preferred position. 9. MOWING Always observe the strictest safety procedures when using the lawnmower. Carefully read the safety instructions of this manual before using the lawn mower. Start the engine and allow it run. See Starting the engine. When it is time to start mowing, move the throttle lever to its RUN position (See Fig. G). To stop the engine, move the throttle lever to the STOP position (See Fig. G). Keep a firm grip on the upper handle and walk, never run, with the mower. Be very careful when mowing uneven or rough ground. Mow across slopes, never up and down. Be careful when changing the direction of the mower on a slope. Do not use the mower on a steep slope of more than 20. The best results will be achieved if the grass is dry. Wet grass will tend to clog the blade and the grass collection system. Grass grows at different rates at different times of the year. Never use the lowest cutting height for the first cut of the season or in drought conditions. Only about one third of the grass height should be cut. If the lawnmower will not collect the cuttings efficiently, the grass discharge chute may be blocked. The grass catcher may be full, or the underside of the mower deck may be clogged. 13

10. EMPTY/ATTACH THE GRASS CATCHER As soon as you see mown grass debris on the lawn, the grass catcher needs to be emptied. IMPORTANT! Before you remove the grass catcher, move the throttle lever to the STOP position and wait the blade system reaches a standstill. 1) To remove the grass catcher, raise the safety flap with one hand and remove the grass catcher using its handle with your other hand. 2) To maintain safety, the safety flap will close back to cover the rear discharge opening, when you release the flap. 3) Empty the grass clippings from the grass catcher into the appropriate bin. Check with your local council for more information. Refit grass catcher as in Section 3. 4) If any grass clippings are caught in the discharge chute, clean it using a broom or similar extension. 5) Do not remove grass debris in the mower casing or on/around the blades by hand or with your feet. Instead use suitable tools such as a brush or broom. 6) To ensure that the grass clippings can be blown into glass catcher, the discharge chute and the inside of the mower deck must be cleared of any blockage. 11. REPLACING THE BLADES (See Fig. J) Always check the sharpness of blades before cutting grass. If the blades are worn excessively and pitted or blunt they should be replaced. The sharpness of the blade will affect the performance of the lawn mower. For safety reasons we recommend that the blades will only be changed Fig. J by persons qualified and authorized to do so. WARNING! Before replacing the blades, ensure that the engine is switched off and the spark plug cap is disconnected and moved away from the spark plug. 1) You will need garden gloves (not provided) and a spanner/ wrench to remove the blade holder. 2) Hold the blade holder and unscrew the blade bolt counterclockwise using a spanner /wrench. Remove the blade bolt, retaining washer and the blade. 14

3) Fit a new blade, locate the blade holder on the two studs on the blade flange and then refit the washer and bolt. Make sure the blade is correctly located, then firmly tighten the bolt. Do not over tighten (not less than 45Nm torque). The upturned flute of the blade must face the motor side of the deck so the blades can throw the grass into the catcher. Always handle the blade with care. Sharp edges could cause injury. USE GLOVES Renew your metal blades and bolts after 50hrs mowing or 2yrs which ever is sooner regardless of condition. If the blade is cracked or damaged replace it with a new one. MAINTENANCE 1. CLEANING WARNING! Make sure before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance that the spark plug cap is disconnected from the spark plug and is moved away from the spark plug! To ensure the best performance of your lawn mower, it is important to keep it clean. Always clean your lawnmower immediately after use. Do not allow grass cuttings and other debris to become dry and hard on any of the mower surface. This will directly affect the cutting and grass collection performance. Make sure that the underside of the lawnmower deck is clean and clear. Ensure the discharge chute and safety flap are clean. The grass catcher must always be emptied each use. Make sure that the exterior of the engine is clear of all debris, cuttings and dirt. Maintenance schedule 12 Hours of use 25 hours of use 50 hours of use Air filter Check Replace Replace Spark plug Check Clean Replace Engine oil Check Check Replace 2. SPARK PLUG (See Fig. K) 1) Once the engine has cooled, remove the spark plug using the socket spanner supplied. 2) Clean the plug with a wire brush. 15

3) Using a feeler gauge, set the gap to 0.75mm. 4) Install the spark plug carefully by hand, to avoid cross-threading. 5) After the spark plug is seated, tighten with spanner to compress the washer. 3. AIR FILTER (See Fig. L1-L2) Unclip the air filter cover and remove the 0.75mm sponge filter element. To avoid objects Fig. K falling into the air tank, replace the air filter cover (9). Wash the filter element in warm soapy water, rinse and allow to dry naturally. Saturate the air filter element with fresh engine oil. Wrap in a clean dry cloth and squeeze out excess oil to avoid possible engine damage. (Do not wring out or twist the filter as this will cause damage to the foam) Place air filter into the base as shown in Fig L. WARNING! Never run the engine without the air filter element installed.the foam only style air filter system works by trapping dirt and debris though the use of motor oil spread throughout the oil foam holding medium. A dry or non-oiled oil foam filter will trap only the largest particles. If the air filter element is foam only, it MUST be oiled and serviced regularly. Your foam filter requires replacement every 3 months or after 25 hours of use, whichever occurs first, more often under dusty conditions. Fig. L1 Fig. L2 4. CHANGING THE OIL (See Fig. M) The oil drain plug (22) is located under the oil filler. Tilt the lawnmower towards the oil filler, have a container ready to catch the oil and remove the drain plug. Once the oil has been emptied, replace the drain plug and wipe clean any 16

spillages. Refill with SAE30 oil. When the dipstick is rested on the filler pipe, the oil level must be between the min and max marks on the dipstick. See Filling with Engine Oil. Do not overfill. Start the engine and allow it run briefly. Stop the engine, wait one minute and check the oil level. Top up if necessary. 5. STORAGE 22 Fig. M CAUTION! Petrol left in the fuel tank over the winter period will become stale and the engine will not start. For long term storage at the end of the season, the oil tank should be drained. On the last mow of the season let the mower run until it stops, then check that there is no more fuel in the fuel tank. Remove the oil drain plug (22) as shown in Fig M. Once there is no more oil being drained from the engine, replace the drain plug. Make sure the lawnmower has been thoroughly cleaned before storing it in a clean dry place. 17
