Explain the reason for the failure in the space provided on the form. Short descriptions such as broken or defective are not enough for STIHL to determine if the failure qualifies for warranty reimbursement. Please provide a short description of the failure, how the failure occurred and/or why the failure qualifies for warranty reimbursement. 6. Determine the proper labor code from the labor code menu if filing via STIHL eservice or the STIHL Repair Timetables Manual and enter the code in the space provided on the claim form. It is not necessary to enter a repair time on the claim. This will be calculated from the labor code and corresponding model number on the claim. Only one labor code can be entered on a STIHL warranty claim. If there are multiple repairs needed to the same machine, the highest time allotted for one of the repairs in most cases is sufficient to cover the other repairs as well. For example, the time allotted to replace the piston/cylinder considers time for testing for air leaks, replacing crankshaft seals or replacing/repairing the carburetor. The time allotted for ignition module replacement generally considers testing the stop switch and ignition system wires. The time allotted for carburetor repairs also includes time for checking and replacing fuel lines and tank vents. In some cases it may be necessary to perform multiple repairs on the same machine that require separate diagnoses and removal of different housings, shrouds, etc. in order to access different areas of the machine. In these cases choose the code for the repair that allows the highest allotted time. If the highest time allotted is not sufficient to cover the other repairs, it will be necessary to contact your STIHL Distribution Center s Service Department for authorization to increase the repair time. The repair times listed in the STIHL Repair Timetables represent the appropriate time needed to complete a repair by technicians who have received STIHL service training and who utilize the proper tools and procedures described in the various STIHL workshop manuals. Service training, workshop manuals and STIHL special tools are available from your STIHL Distribution Center. Diagnostic time, cleaning, time to complete the repair and test running are included in the repair times, whenever applicable. 7. Enter the quantity and part numbers used for the warranty repair in the spaces provided on the claim form. The part being replaced that caused the failure should be placed on the first line in the part number section of the claim form. If you are unsure what part caused the failure, enter the major part that was replaced on the first line in the part number section of the claim

14 8. Determine the failure code of the part number you entered on the first line of the claim form and enter the code in the space provided on the claim. The listing of failure codes is selected from the STIHL eservice menu or can be found on the backside of the Factory Copy of the claim form. 9. If filing a paper warranty request form, remove the back copy (Dealer Copy) of the claim form and retain it for your files. 10. Place all the parts that are listed on the warranty claim into a bag or box and tag or label the part with the corresponding warranty claim number. 11. Retain the parts for 90 days from the date you submit the warranty claim. You will be notified by STIHL Incorporated or your STIHL Distribution Center to return the parts if they are needed for further examination. Note: it is important that the part matches the information on the warranty claim and be the same part that was replaced. Any parts received by STIHL that do not match the machine or information listed on the claim or do not fall within the guidelines of STIHL Incorporated s limited warranty policy will have the entire claim credit debited back to the dealer. Submission of Paper STIHL Warranty Request Forms The Factory and Distributor copies of paper warranty request forms must be submitted to your STIHL Distribution Center within thirty (30) days of the repair date to be considered for warranty reimbursement. Do not send warranty claims directly to STIHL Incorporated. STIHL encourages dealers to file warranty claims electronically using the STIHL eservice website at Electronic claim filing saves the dealer processing time and warranty approvals and credits are received quicker. Warranty Parts Return Ignition modules, carburetors, pistons, cylinders, crankshafts, crankcases and complete machines that are submitted for warranty consideration may need to be returned with the claim number (or paper claim form) to your STIHL Distribution Center before the claim is processed. If you are unsure what parts are required to be returned, contact your STIHL Distribution Center s Service Department. If the parts are not required to be returned, retain them for 90 days from the date the warranty claim is submitted. From time to time you may receive a letter and return shipping label from STIHL asking that a part be returned from a specific warranty claim. If you receive a parts return request letter, return the parts labeled with the corresponding warranty claim number per the instructions using the shipping label supplied with the letter. You may scrap the parts locally if you do not receive a request to return the parts within 90 days from the date you submitted the warranty claim

15 STIHL eservice Website The STIHL eservice website provides dealers with access to STIHL service and technical information online. STIHL eservice features include: Product Registration Electronic filing of Product Registrations: Select the New Registration link to enter the product s serial number. You will be prompted with the corresponding model number that matches the serial number entered. If the model number being displayed on the screen is not correct or if there is an existing registration for the product, check to be sure you entered the correct serial number. If you entered the serial number accurately you will be given the option to create a new registration by selecting the model given or using the drop down box to view all valid STIHL model descriptions. Select the New Registration tab to complete customer information as prompted. Serial number registration can also be accessed by using the entry box in the upper right corner of the screen. You now have access to existing registration information by selecting various options under the Lookup Registration link. You can search by product model description, serial number, date range, and/or customer name. You can also file a new warranty claim for the machine by selecting File New Claim. Stolen STIHL product information is now entered directly into the registration information and provides you with important information on stolen products including date stolen, customer or dealership the unit was stolen from, and contact phone numbers. Dealer Information Your STIHL dealer account number, address, and billing information currently on file with your STIHL Distribution Center can be easily viewed for accuracy. Please contact your STIHL Distribution Center with any changes to be made to this information. Warranty Claims Electronic Warranty Claim Processing: At the New Claim link you will be prompted to enter a claim type using the drop down menu. Enter the serial number, product type and model. All sold products are required to be registered in order to process a warranty claim for the product unless the claim is for an accessory. When entering a serial number that has been previously registered, the product registration will appear and can be selected to include the customer information on the claim automatically. You also have immediate access to your warranty claims in various stages. Pending status claims are claims that have been submitted but not processed. Saved status claims have not yet been submitted and can still be edited. Returned status claims are those that have been returned by your STIHL Distribution Center requesting further information or corrections. Approved status claims lists those approved for payment processing. Denied status claims show claims denied for credit with a reason for denial of processing. Electronic filing of Product Repair/Recall Campaign Claims: STIHL provides the option of filing repair/recall campaign claims directly from the View Campaigns menu. Pertinent information for any active repair campaigns or recalls is provided in this section. Warranty Claim Search Screen: You can search claim history data with expanded options including claim type, product type, model, dates, status, serial number, and/or part number

16 Technical Documents This section gives you access to the STIHL parts lists and technical bulletin information by product type and model. When the Technical Documents tab is selected, the website will test your system for the necessary software (Adobe Acrobat) needed to be installed to view the documents contained in this section. The Main Page of the Technical Documentation section gives you five main categories to select from. Once a main category is selected, related product catorgies will appear. From there you can select a specific model to view illustrated parts manuals and technical bulletins. By selecting the Search button from the Menu, product queries can be made by part number, part descriptions, model number, etc. Please contact your STIHL Distribution Center for information on acquiring login information and passwords to the STIHL eservice website
