8 OILFIELD TECHNOLOGY MUD RECOVERY BUCKET MRB PATENTED INTRODUCTION The Mud Recovery Bucket is used to contain the violent outflow of mud when the drill pipe is disconnected during extraction of pipes in petroleum drilling operations as a protective measure for personnel and for controlled recovery of the mud. FUNCTIONALITY The two halves are opened and closed by hydraulic jacks installed inside the container in a position that does not interfere with the drill pipe or its tool joint. SAFETY For the safety of the worker and persons standing nearby, a safety bar is positioned on the opening of the container which blocks the closure of the two halves. Abrasive Wear Occurs On The Inside And Outside Of Cables. Inside the cable, individual strands move and rub against one another. Outside, dirt and contaminants accumulated from sheaves and drums cause three-body abrasive wear. 2. To provide corrosion protection and lubrification in the core and inside strands and onthe exterior surfaces. Corrosion Can Cause Shortened Cable Life. Due to metal loss, pitting and stress risers from pitting. Longer cable life can be obtained through the use of penetrating lubricants, either alone or when used in conjunction with a coating lubricant.
