Replace with Sleeve. Start By: A. Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, clean the exterior of the component to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies to prevent fluid loss, and to keep contaminants from entering the system.

2 Page 2 of 8 Cylinders equipped withlockvalves can remain pressurized for very longperiods oftime,even withthe hoses removed. Failure to relieve pressure before removinga lockvalve or disassemblinga cylinder can result in personal injury or death. Ensure all pressure is relieved before removinga lockvalve or disassemblinga cylinder. NOTICE Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance ofinspection,maintenance,testing,adjusting,and repair ofthe product.be prepared to collect the fluid withsuitable containers before openingany compartment or disassemblingany component containingfluids. Refer to Special Publication,NENG2500,"Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose ofall fluids accordingto local regulations and mandates. Illustration 1 g Remove cover (1) and disconnect hose assemblies (2).

Illustration 7 g (1) Torque for the nut with lubrication on threads ±340 N m (2510 ±250 lb ft) (2) Put clean grease on the threads. Torque for the crown ±130 N m (440 ±95 lb ft) (3) Apply Tooling (F) to the wiper seal groove prior to assembly.

6 Page 6 of 8 Use the lubricant that is being sealed in order to lubricate the sealing lips in the head. Installation Procedure Table 3 Required Tools Tool Part Number Part Description Qty H 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Illustration 8 g Attach a suitable lifting device to tilt cylinder (3). Install tilt cylinder (3). The weight of tilt cylinder (3) is approximately 86 kg (190 lb). Illustration 9 g

7 Page 7 of 8 2. Apply Tooling (H) to pin (7). Install pin (7). Illustration 10 g Install enough shims (6) in order to remove bearing clearance. Install cap (5) and tighten cap (5). Remove cap (5) and shims (6). Install enough shims (6) in order to allow only one shim (6) to extend above face (6A) of the frame assembly (6B). Illustration 11 g Apply Tooling (H) to pin (4). Install pin (4).
