Page 1 of 14 Document ID: #11185A: Customer Satisfaction - Rear Sunroof Water Leak - Inspect Seal - (Jul 14, 2011) Subject: 11185A - Rear Sunroof Water Leak - Inspect Seal Models: 2011 Cadillac SRX Equipped with a Sunroof Vehicles involved in this program that were in dealer inventory were placed on Stop Delivery June 21, Dealers were to inspect the vehicles and determine if the vehicle could be released from stop delivery or held for repairs. This bulletin provides instructions to repair the vehicles that were held. Once the vehicle is repaired, the vehicle can be released from stop delivery. The Part Information section in this bulletin has been revised. An initial supply of sunroof seals required to complete this program wsere pre-shipped to dealers the week of June 27, If additional seals are required, they can now be obtained by GMCC&A; however, all orders will be reviewed and seals will be shipped as they become available. Due to part availability, this program was administered in phases. With this bulletin, all involved VINs will be released. Please discard all copies of bulletin 11185, issued June **********THIS PROGRAM IS IN EFFECT UNTIL AUGUST 31, 2013.********** Condition Certain 2011 model year Cadillac SRX vehicles, equipped with a sunroof, may have a condition in which exposure to high heat may cause the adhesive between the rear sunroof glass and roof seal to degrade and allow the seal to move. If this occurs, water may enter the vehicle between the seal and the rear sunroof glass during heavy rainfall or a car wash. Correction Dealers are to inspect the seal, and if necessary, replace the seal. Vehicles Involved Involved are certain 2011 model year Cadillac SRX vehicles, equipped with a sunroof. Important: Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the Required Field Actions section in the Global Warranty Management system. Not all vehicles may be involved. For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle 2011 General Motors. All rights reserved.

Page 2 of 14 identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided to US and Canadian dealers through the GM GlobalConnect Recall Reports, or sent directly to export dealers. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned. The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this program is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this program. Parts Information The sunroof seals and dielectric lubricant to complete this program are to be obtained from GMCC&A Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. An initial supply of sunroof seals were pre-shipped to dealers the week of June 27, If additional seals are required, they should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order. Note: All dealer orders will be reviewed and released as stock is available. Caution: Use only Kent Products KT Moulding Adhesion Promoter to complete this repair. Do NOT substitute the Kent Products KT Moulding Adhesion Promoter with another adhesive promoter to ensure there is a proper bond between the rear window encapsulation and the rear window seal. The moulding adhesion promoter is to be obtained from Kent Products. The promoter can be ordered on their website at or by calling Do not order from GMCC&A Part Number Description Qty/ Vehicle Seal, Sun Rf Pnl/Wdo US CN Kent Products P/N KT13788 Lubricant, Dielectric (will service 50 vehicles) Moulding Adhesion Promoter (will service 30 vehicles) As Req'd As Needed Service Procedure Tools Required J Universal 12V Leak Detection Lamp Note: Use ONLY the J Universal 12V Leak Detection Lamp to inspect the sunroof rear window seal for proper application of adhesion promoter. DO NOT remove the rear window from the sunroof assembly. Perform this inspection from the roof of the vehicle with the window in the OPEN position. If the J Universal 12V Leak Detection Lamp is not available, refer to Seal Push Test in this inspection.

Page 3 of With the window in the OPEN position, use the J Universal 12V Leak Detection Lamp (black light) to inspect the sunroof rear window. Note: There is no seal or promoter applied to the rear frame (1) of the sunroof window. Promoter will only be visible at the front and both sides of the glass panel, as designated by the green line in the graphic above. 2. Only inspect the sunroof rear window, and only inspect the window at the front edge and two sides. Note: Results are better seen in lower ambient light. If testing is being done in bright light, use an umbrella, or similar item, to cover the area. The distance the light should be held away from the panel will vary based on the power of the light. 3. Shine the black light along the front and side seal areas of the glass panel, to determine if the promoter is present.

Page 4 of 14 If adhesion promoter has been applied to the glass panel, a bright fluorescent blue line about the width of line drawn with a pen will be visible along the edge between the seal and the glass. Refer to the illustration. When promoter is found to be present, the vehicle can be released for sale or delivery. Note: Visible spots of blue color can sometimes be dust, which can be wiped off with a towel. If no/minimal adhesion promoter has been applied, no bright fluorescent blue line, or possibly only small traces (1) of the blue color will be visible. When promoter is NOT found to be present, the vehicle must be held and repaired prior to delivery. Place a notification in the vehicle that the vehicle is to be held until parts are available for repair. If the vehicle must be stored outside until the repair procedure is available, make sure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and do not wash the vehicle using pressurized water on or near the sunroof. Seal Push Test

Page 5 of 14 Note: Perform this inspection from the roof of the vehicle with the window in the CLOSED position. 1. Inspect the sunroof rear window (1) at the front edge and two sides. 2. Locate the sunroof rear window seal (2). 3. Using your thumb, apply a light downward pressure on the rear window seal at the left or right corner of the rear window. If the rear window seal does not separate from the window, the vehicle can be released for sale or delivery. If the rear window seal separates from the window, no promoter is present and the vehicle must be held and repaired prior to delivery. Place a notification in the vehicle that the vehicle is to be held until parts are available for repair. If the vehicle must be stored outside until the repair procedure is available, make sure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and do not wash the vehicle using pressurized water on or near the sunroof. Repair Procedure 1. Remove the sunroof rear window. Refer to Sunroof Window Replacement - Rear, in SI.

Page 6 of Remove the seal (1) from rear window panel by grabbing one end, or a detached area, and pulling the seal away from the window frame. Caution: Do NOT use a metal scraper or razor blade to remove the adhesive residue from the window frame encapsulation. Do NOT gouge the window frame encapsulation when removing the adhesive residue. 3. Using a plastic scraper, remove any adhesive residue from the window frame encapsulation. Caution: During cleaning, use caution not to damage the lip (shown circled in the graphic above) along the edge of the encapsulation. 4. Clean any remaining residue from the encapsulation with coarse sandpaper (100 grit), using

Page 7 of 14 light pressure. 5. Clean the encapsulation with an alcohol wipe; dispose of the wipe. Caution: Use caution not to get adhesion promoter on the glass. 6. Apply moulding adhesion promoter, Kent Products, P/N KT13788, to the encapsulation. Ensure that an even coating is applied and allow the promoter to dry for at least 10 seconds.

Page 8 of 14 Note: Approximate location of the corner stuffers is designated by the dashed lines in the graphic above. 7. Locate the stuffer for one corner of the glass seal. The stuffer is inside the seal bulb, will feel harder than rest of seal, and is located approximately 48 cm (19 in) from end of seal. Note: The orientation of the seal should be with the lip (1) of the seal toward the bottom on the glass, in-car. 8. Remove the backing to expose 60 cm (23.6 in) of adhesive and position the stuffer to the corner of the window encapsulation. 9. Press the seal stuffer onto the corner, ensuring that the edge of seal has good contact against the lip of the encapsulation.

Page 9 of 14 Note: During the next several steps, continually ensure that the seal is flush with the lip of the encapsulation. As shown in the graphic above, there should be no gap between the encapsulation lip and the seal. 10. Press the shorter length of seal along the side of glass panel. The seal will extend past the step in the encapsulation, but will be trimmed in a later step.

Page 10 of Continue to remove the backing as necessary, and using finger pressure only, press the seal along the front of glass panel. 12. Press the remaining seal stuffer onto the other corner. 13. Press and apply the remaining length of seal along the other side of glass panel. Note: The gap of the butt joint created must be 1 mm (.04 in) or less.

Page 11 of Using scissors, or equivalent tool, trim each end of the seal to create a butt joint with the step in the encapsulation. The gap of the butt joint created must be 1 mm (.04 in) or less. 15. Apply dielectric lubricant, P/N (US), (CN), to the front and around the corners of the window seal, as designated by the yellow line in the graphic above. 16. Reinstall the window panel. Refer to Sunroof Window Replacement - Rear, in SI. Floor Plan Reimbursement Dealers in possession of inventory vehicles that were determined to have suspect seals and the vehicle was held, are eligible for reimbursement of floor plan expense upon completion of this program. This reimbursement is limited to the number of days from the Stop Delivery message to receipt of the program parts and/or repair procedures. Floor plan reimbursement beyond these dates is not allowed. The amount of reimbursement should be charged as a net amount expense
