10 GUIDE FOR ENTRANTS CONCOURS CLASS Thank you for entering your vehicle in the TR Register s Concours class. For entry to this Class, cars must be either Registered or operated on the Club Permit Scheme. Cars will be judged in up to 5 sections by teams of judges. In this elegance /originality event, a neat, clean and well maintained or restored car to original standard should score well. ORIGINALITY: Intended to validate the vehicle s originality by presentation of the vehicle s Birth Certificate. Judging will be balanced to ensure that original cars are not penalised by restored cars. EXTERIOR: PANELS & PAINT: The car should be clean and polished. Panel fit and original and matching colour on all panels will be judged. TRIM, BRIGHTWORK & GLASS: Dents, blemishes and/or scratches on trims and glass will lose points. Present everything at its best. INTERIOR: Old and clean can score as well as, if not better than, new and dirty. Any items left inside the vehicle, e.g., street directories, steering locks, umbrellas, may detract from the general presentation of the vehicle. Soft or hard top must be erected on the vehicle and side curtains may be spread on the adjacent ground for inspection. BOOT and SPARE WHEEL: Judges must have access to the boot. All items, including the spare wheel and tools, must be removed and displayed behind the vehicle. Spare Wheel on Concours d Elegance Class cars must match other wheels on Car. Spare wheel must be able to be secured. ENGINE BAY: Judges must have access to the engine bay. It should look clean and functional. Rotten radiator hoses, oil leaks, scruffy wiring looms and loose wiring detract from looks and will lower the overall score. UNDERBODY: The judges will check for visible oil leaks, chassis condition, steering and suspension items, and under wheel arches. Fresh grass is ignored; caked on mud is not. WHEELS and TYRES: (Excluding spare wheel). ALL wheels & tyres on Concours d Elegance Class cars MUST match. Tyre condition, tread wear, matching tyres, sizes and tread patterns, paint finish on wheels, condition of wheel trims, dents, etc. will all be considered. In the event of a tied score for first, second or third place in any category, including outright, a final overall judging of the cars in question will be made by the Concours Director and the Chief Judge and the winner determined. All vehicles entered must be owned and entered by a TR Register financial club member. Vehicles trailered to the event must be unloaded from their trailers in the designated area and driven onto the Concours area no loss of points. DO NOT TALK TO THE JUDGES as they are working to a time limit per vehicle and are endeavouring to complete judging by 2.00 pm. If a judge requests assistance, e.g., open bonnet or boot, the owner, or an authorised person, must be available. No score will be given for any section of the vehicle for which access is not available. Officials, appointed by the committee, will direct all vehicles on display to specific areas allocated for that type / category of vehicle. The decision of the judges is final.
