3 4 Light alloy profile system for facades Design Description Facade: Thermal-insulated facade mullion-and-transom construction with disengaged transom profiles for optimum load transmission. The heat insulation, formed from the insulator profile, is integrated into the supporting inner profile over its full length by means of a special groove. Uf values to EN ISO Dimension values Uf,BW to DIN V : 2002 Dimensions*: Statics: The glazing or the installation of insert elements such as e.g. windows or doors is made with pressure profiles screwed on from the outside. With a corresponding mullion formation (half mullions), the facade can be fitted with the concealed window sash. Cover profiles in various heights and forms are available for covering the pressure profiles. Mullion and transom profiles with 50 mm visible width. Installation depths available in graduated dimensions according to statics requirements from 80 mm to 200 mm. The design conforms in its statics to DIN 4113, DIN 1005 and unconditionally to the technical guidelines of the glass industry. * The installation depths indicated in the catalogue are reference dimensions for planning. The manufactured dimensions for frame and sash profiles lie 0.4 mm above the nominal dimensions in the catalogue, the glazing bar profiles 0.2 mm April 2009

4 System Description Design Description 5 1. The visible width of the facade profiles is 50 mm. 2. The installation depths of the mullion and transom profiles are designed in graduated dimensions according to statics requirements from 80 mm to 200 mm. Half mullions and half transoms to receive D, DK and tilting sashes while maintaining the mm outside visible width in the window area by concealed, integrated ashes. 3. Room-side hollow chambers for installation of special push-in profiles for securing and connection of the mullion profiles. 4. Facade mullion-and-transom constructions with disengaged mullion profiles for transom connection and hence for optimum load transmission. Sash available with clamped and bpnded glazing. 5. The glazing or the installation of insert elements such as e.g. windows or doors is made with pressure profiles screwed on from the outside. Glazings and panels with thicknesses from 24 to 38 mm can be installed using spacers and/or gasket profiles. The use of integrated window profiles in conjunction with half mullion or half transom profiles is possible. 6. The dry glazing is performed from inside and outside with EPDM gaskets. Ventilation of the glazing rabbet from the outside is effected via special ventilation channels. 7. Draining is effected under control via drainage levels or the mullion or transom profiles. 8. All connecting and retaining parts of the facade construction are made from aluminium or stainless steel. 9. The pressure profiles are screwed on through the insulator into preformed screw channels of the mullion and transom profiles with a maximum spacing of 25 cm. 10. The pressure profiles are covered uding cover profiles in various heights and forms from 12 to 30 mm. The vertical cover profiles should stand higher than the horizontal cover profiles. 11. All profiles can be anodised or painted. 12. The heat insulation, formed from the insulator profile, is integrated into the supporting inner profile over its full length by means of a special groove. The Uf values were determined in accordance with DIN EN ISO Dimensioning values Uf, BW to DIN V : The outer cover profiles at the facade junction points have a visible width corresponding to the viewing angles. 14. The aluminium profiles extruded dimensionally to DIN EN are made of the alloy DIN 6060 (AIMgSi 0.5 F-22) in anodised quality. 15. The design conforms in its statics to DIN 4113, DIN 1005 and unconditionally to the technical guidelines of the glass industry. 16. All loads occurring must be reliably transmitted to the building. 17. The Code of Practice for the Processor in our latest main catalogue must be observed for the use and processing of our design.

11 12 Dimensioning of Mullions and s Statics Table Loading width: The loading width c1 or c2 is determined by half the fields adjacent to the mullions or transoms. Load case: A freely supported girder on two supports with trapezoidal or triangular load is assumed as the load case. The division of the load-bearing surface is effected by halving the angles. Admissible bending: The general rule is fz ul. = q/300 I (DIN 18056) The insulating glazing manufacturers regard this as the maximum bending between the support points of support spacing I, but limit the admissible bending in the partial area (bending between the supporting points of the largest part-area) to fzul. = 1/300 I = 0,8 cm. Support width 1 (cm) Mullion spacing Loading width Mullion spacing Load assumptions: (DIN 1055 Part 4) Dynamic pressure q = 0,5 kn/m 2 (height above ground = 0-8 m) Dynamic pressure q = 0,8 kn/m 2 (height above ground = 8-20 m) Dynamic pressure q = 1,1 kn/m 2 (height above ground = 20-10m) Pressure coefficient cp = 0,8 + 1/4 = 1,0 Wind pressure w = q c p (kn/m2) Material strength specifications of the Al alloy AlMgSi 0.5 F22 (DIN 4113) Minimum tensile strength β z = 22 kn/cm 2 Minimum yield strength d 0,2 = 16 kn/cm 2 Admissible strain (main load H): d zul = 95 N/mm 2 Modulus of elasticity E = 7000 kn/cm 2 Application of tables I and II For mullions or transoms of single-pane fields Example A use Table I For mullions or transoms of multi-pane fields Example Β use Table II if all the part-areas are = 240 cm in size. In Example C the largest partial area of the mullion is dimensioned as 320 cm. As this is larger than 240 cm, f zul. = 0,8 cm or fzul. = lp/ 0,8 I = 320/0,8 I = 1/400 I applies for this area. This admissible bending of 1/400 I of the partial area applies to the whole mullion length of 460cm. In order to determine the necessary inertia moment Ix, the value from Table II opposite must first be divided by 300 and then multiplied by 400.
