Unsealed single row and double row bearings are used primarily in power transmission construction. Sealed double row bearings are preferably used in crane construction. Single row, full complement cylindrical roller bearings are not separable except the bearings of series. oth rings of separable bearings can be tightly fitted. This facilitates mounting and dismounting. They can also transmit axial loads in one direction. See page 272 for axial loading. Axial counterguidance is provided by a second bearing which is arranged syetrically. earings of series and have two fixed lips on the inner ring. They transmit axial forces only in the direction of the fixed outer ring lip. earings of series take up axial forces in the direction of the inner ring lip. The rolleet is self-retained in the outer ring so that the rollers do not drop out even if the inner ring is removed. This facilitates separate mounting and dismounting if both rings have a tight fit. asic designs of the double row bearings In addition to very high axial forces double row, full complement cylindrical roller bearings accoodate axial forces in both directions as well as tilting moments. They are therefore used as locating bearings. See page 272 for axial loading. earings of series NNC49V have a lubricating groove and lubricating holes in the outer ring and can be supplied centrically with lubricant during operation. earings of series NNF50.2LS.V and NNF50C.2LS.V are equipped with rubbing seals on both sides and are filled with grease. Under favourable conditions, the grease fill lasts for the service life of the bearings. They can be relubricated via a groove and holes in the outer ring. If various identical bearings are arranged on one axle, the outer rings may have varying speeds because they are narrower than the inner rings. This is an advantage for rope pulleys. For an easy fixation of the pulleys on the bearing outer rings, the outer rings have circularooves on both sides fonap rings. Alignment The modified line contact between rollers and raceways of the cylindrical roller bearings eliminates edge stressing and ensures a certain aligning capability. The angular alignment of single row cylindrical roller bearings must not exceed a maximum of 4 angular minutes at a load ratio of P/C 0.2 (P = equivalent dynamic load [kn], C = dynamic load rating [kn]). If there are higher loads oreater misalignment to accoodate, please consult FAG. earing locations designed for double row, full complement cylindrical roller bearings must be free from misalignment. Friction and speed suitability The rollers of full complement cylindrical roller bearings are in mutual contact and rotate at their contact areas in opposite direction. This renders the formation of a separating lubricating film difficult. The friction of full complement cylindrical roller bearings is therefore at least twice the friction of caged cylindrical roller bearings. Due to the resulting higher temperatures, full complement bearings do not reach the high speeds of bearings with cage. General data on the suitability for high speeds are shown on page 87 et seq. Under appropriate operating conditions, the reference speed may be exceeded up to the value for the limiting speed. Special operating conditions are taken into consideration by determining the thermally permissible operating speed. If the reference speed in the tables exceeds the limiting speed, the higher value must not be used. Lubrication Full complement cylindrical roller bearings are lubricated either with grease or with oil. Grease lubrication is used mainly for low-speed applications such as rope pulleys or crane runwheels. Recoended greases are lithium soap base greases of NLGI classes 2 or 3, e.g. Arcanol L78V or L71V of FAG. At high loads the grease should be doped with EP additives (Arcanol L135V or L186V). Sealed bearings NNF50(C).2LS.V are filled by the manufacturer with a lithium soap base grease of NLGI class 2 with EP additive. Under favourable conditions the grease fill lasts for the service life of the bearings. Relubriation is possible via a groove and holes in the outer ring. In that case the seals must be supported axially. Mainly full complement cylindrical roller bearings mounted in toothed gearing are lubricated with oil. The operating viscosity ν must be at least double the rated viscosity ν 1 to ensure that the bearings are subject to little wear and that the contact areas retain their original shapes. For the determination of the viscosity see page 42. The oil should be filtered, cf. page 48. Heat treatment FAG cylindrical roller bearings are heat-treated in such a way that they can be used for operating temperatures up to 150 C. earings with an outside diameter over 120 are dimensionally stable up to 200 C.
