This APSI provides basic servicing information in advance of the repair manual currently in development. System tests and component removal and installation procedures are common with most other Briggs & Stratton engines. See the Illustrated Parts List for service part numbers. The specifi cations, part numbers, and/or procedures provided are PRELIMINARY and subject to change. 3 Static Governor Adjustment Procedure 1. Loosen the governor lever nut (A). 2. Rotate the governor lever (B) to the right or clockwise as far as it will go so that the throttle shaft is in the wide open position. 3. Rotate the governor shaft (C) clockwise as far as it will go and hold the lever and shaft in this position. 4. Torque the governor lever nut to 100 lb-in (11.3 Nm). B C A Page 3 of 7

4 Cyclonic Air Filter Service Procedure 1. Loosen the fasteners and remove the air fi lter cover (A). 2. Loosen the screws and remove the debris guards (B). 3. Wearing safety glasses and BEFORE removing/replacing the air fi lter, blow out any debris around the cylinders. 4. Reinstall the debris guards. Torque the screws to 20 lb-in (2.3 Nm). 5. Open the latch (C) and remove the air fi lter. 6. To loosen debris, gently tap the air fi lter on a hard surface. If the air fi lter is excessively dirty, replace with a new air fi lter. 7. Install the air fi lter and close the latch. 8. Install the cover and torque the screws to 15 lb-in (1.7 Nm). B C B A Page 4 of 7
