5 LADDER PIPE AND / OR SOURCE PUMPING OPERATIONS The bjective f ladder pipe peratins is t flw 1,250. Flw meters frequently becme ut f calibratin r can fail cmpletely. Althugh increasing until flw meter(s) read 1,250 is generally acceptable, the fllwing charts shall give guidance if flw meter accuracy is in questin. The pump n quints shall be used whenever pssible. Nte: assumes full nzzle elevatin at. As necessary, subtract 5 psi per estimated 10 feet f nzzle elevatin belw when aerial is nt at the highest extensin and / r angle f elevatin. 6 STANDPIPE OPERATIONS FDC Supply Pumper Test Pressure: 190 PSI. Operating Pressure: Maintain 175 psi at all times. Exceptin: 2220 Tulare (Old Del Web): Maintain 210 PSI fr fires abve the 16 th flr. D nt exceed 200 psi in dry r cmbinatin standpipe systems. Exceptin: 2220 Tulare (Old Del Web) The Cmbinatin system n this building is tested at apprximately 225 psi. Standpipe Cntrl Valve Target pressure at the SP discharge while ne line is flwing: Begin with 95 PSI. Add 5 PSI per flr that hselines are deplyed t abve the discharge. Add 15 PSI per 50 sectin f 2-1/2 needed t place the wye at the base f a stairwell when SP discharges are nt in the stairwell. Page 6 f 12

7 SPRINKLER SYSTEMS Attempt t maintain 150 psi at all times. Exceptin: Super Blck: West side f Van Ness, between Fresn and Tulare. Super Blck FDC s must be pumped at a maximum f 75 PSI if the system s fire pump is perating. If the system s fire pump is nt perating and sprinklers are flwing, lck-ut / tag-ut the pump electric pwer surce and pump the FDC at 150 PSI. Five-inch hse is always preferable.
