Here, 18 km from Stuttgart, is where engineering genius has been combined with racing passion since 1971: the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach and the Porsche Motorsport headquarters in the district of Flacht. The birthplace of all Porsche models. Every new Porsche originates here. From the first line of a sketch in a notebook to tyre marks on the test track. From the prototype to the final production car. It makes no difference to Porsche whether it s a sports car or a race car. Because motorsport is integral to Porsche DNA from the outset. And knowledge gained on the racetrack has always played a major role in series development. New ideas are tested here and the true performance ability of concepts is examined. Getting a little closer to realising the dream of a perfect sports car does not simply require more horsepower. Instead, it needs more new ideas. This is the principle at the core of the Porsche brand. And this is what is meant by Porsche Intelligent Performance. Nowhere is the absolute determination to question one s own performance and the desire to achieve the most out of every opportunity more apparent than in the Porsche Motorsport Centre in Flacht. In this state-of-the-art complex made of aluminium and glass, every employee lives and breathes the Porsche passion for motorsport every day. From road cars to race cars: every new Porsche completes its first kilometres on the 2.5-km-long Porsche test track in Flacht, Weissach. Sit in the virtual passenger seat and familiarise yourself with the test track in the accompanying video. Connection costs dependent on your mobile phone contract. The LMP1 centre. An LMP1 centre with labora tories and testing sites was set up in Flacht to prepare for the much-anticipated return to the LMP1 class in The sophisticated infrastructure ensures that everything is close at hand and lends itself to close cooperation. All LMP1 units work together here under one roof to coordinate development in the workshop where the car is constructed, for example, in the wind tunnel and where the high-voltage system is tested. The test facilities. There are test facilities for a wide range of components in Weissach. Individual parts such as various cylinder geometries can be examined here, new engines can run at full capacity for the first time and finished cars can be tested. Indeed, gear shifts, delimiters and traction control systems can be tried out at the test facilities. The driving simulator. Technical modifications to the car are simulated in the Porsche simulator. The driver s feedback is then directly integrated into the development process. Driving impressions that precisely reproduce the racetrack s profile and environment are generated on a motion simulator with a monocoque, a steering wheel and pedals.
