I was hoping that all members out there in the non-dashboard-cracking regions who are drinking frozen Margarita s would be answering my call for submissions. I d love to feature the car you have squirreled away in Minnesota or Washington if only you would send a picture/s with a brief/long message. I d like to make this newsletter a 12 month a year effort without having to create all the features myself in the off season. As a result you will again have to suffer through this year s Mecum article, (I did last year s auction last month) and another Name that engine as I have received little feedback from the outside world. While I am complaining, and I must remind you that it is my N.Y. birthright to do so, that we have a great WEB SITE and we all should be tapping in to keep our hands on the pulse of the club we love. A lot of effort goes into it and one should pop in often to check out the latest happenings. Oh, and did I mention we should all sign up as soon as possible for our spectacular show on November 5 th 2016?

3 Behind the wheel at the Denver Mecum auction Part 2: July 8 th and 9 th 2016 Here I am guarding my favorite ride of the weekend, a 2001 Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder. Unsold at a $75,000 high bid. A Thunderbird of distinction that I did not drive I have just returned from the 2016 Denver Mecum Auction. It was my 2 nd year as a driver. Once again thanks to my great car loving buddy Keith for having an in with the local Thunderbird club that handles the driving duties. I may seem a tad bit chubby in this picture but the Ferrari fit me like a fine soft Italian leather glove. I drove it deep in the bowels of the convention center and the sound of the 3.6 liter 40 valve twin cam V8 was sweet intoxicating music indeed. This beast had the distinction of being the one car in the action I would love to have in my garage. Alas I have no room for it. Woo Hoo, I drove a Hellcat. There was a trio of them. One of Jerry Seinfeld s Porsche collection. I didn t drive it. I wasn t this lucky initially. I was driving old and uncomfortable Land Cruisers while the others drove Cobras Panteras, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, GT40s, and Aston Martins.
