4 What is most important We think it s you; For all of you who have a van as your workplace, for all of you who know that order, saves time and makes it possible to do an even better job, it is for you we make our vehicle racking. We have been listening to you for over 50 years. The solutions we have made are the answers to your questions. We think it s very important to understand how you spend your day and how you use your vans. We don t try to make things complicated nor do we complicate things which can be made easy. Our most important asset is actually common sense; because what we do is not complicated; it s simply shelves, drawers and cabinets for safely storing your tools and equipment. But to do it simply, it takes a bit of thinking. We develop, improve, refine and simplify. We are continuously testing, redesigning and re-testing. We implement crash tests and load tests, to be sure that our racking can cope with the extreme forces exerted on it. 6 Systematic System Edström You can, without a doubt, say that we are flexible when it comes to vehicle racking; and all built around a system where everything connects together. Our drawers and shelves can be combined in endless combinations, well, almost! In other words, you can design your own interior to suit your specific requirements. Then, if you decide to change your vehicle to another model, you can transfer it from one to another. No Description 1 Drawers Each drawer is it s own contruction unit. 8 Drawers This is the foundation stone of the system; you can decide how many drawer units you need and where you want them. Choose between two depths, two heights and four widths and any combination of these. The drawers come with plastic sliders as standard, can take a payload of 40kg. This can be increased to 60 kg when upgraded with roller bearings. 12 Sliding Shelves Would it not be useful if you could pull out the shelf fully to get access to everything on it? Yes, we think so too! A sliding shelf is both a drawer and a shelf at the same time. Flexibility is a key word for us! With sliding shelves and a false floor you can maximise the use of the vehicles space. Add some racking on top of the floor and you will have enough space to carry all tools and parts you ll need when you re out working. We fit false floors to most small vans on the market. 18 Frames & Platforms With sliding interior frames, the racking comes to you aiding access of your tools and equipment. No more stretching or bending into the back of the van. Our sliding drawer & shelf frames let the interior come to you. You ll spare your back and knees as well as gaining free floor space. The benefit of our interior mounting bracket for smaller van interiors, is that you will gain free floor space under the components. The intelligent universal bracket allows you to use, in most vehicles, standard fittings. The sliding platform delivers the load to you, with a tailor made box it s an excellent load carrier. If you want an extendable interior, choose one of the 350 mm wide platforms. 16

40 Mounting The racking needs to be securely attached to the van body using the re-enforcing bars and floor. Bolting it to the van is the preferred fixing method; otherwise, we recommend a 6.5mm steel rivet as an alternative. Edstrom supply all the required fixing components in our mounting kits. Our installation manual is available on request. NB If you have chosen to install Edstrom racking yourself, take care not to drill through cables, brake pipes, fuel lines and the fuel tank! Use corrosion protection at drill points and take time to install it correctly M6x10 collar screw and M6 collar nut. M6x25 bolt with washer and collar nut. 41 When you attach the interior to the wall bars/stringers use steel blind rivets or chassis screws. The floor mounting must go through the floor, M6 bolt with locknut and washers on both sides is recommended. An alternative to bolt is 6,5 mm steel rivets, make sure the rivets go through the floor. Use the prepunched holes in the bottom of the shelf frame, make sure you have necessary space under the floor. When mounting extendable or foldable vice holders, use M8 bolts through the vehicle floor with locknut and washers on both sides. or or Schematic picture over mounting spots, in the walls it s very important to find wall bars/stringers for a secure fitting. In the floor you must be sure to go through the floor with bolts and/or rivets. If you are using blind rivets they must be made of steel. Remember that you can t use to many bolts and rivets. 39

42 Handling System Edström Your new vehicle is standing in the garage, you have a mountain of tools and spare parts which all need space. Here are some ideas and suggestions that we would like to share with you. Load heavy low, obvious you think. But you should always remember this, store your load in a clever way and you will have less back problems and the vehicle will act much better and be safer on the road. If you have bulky packages on the floor make sure to use proper straps to retain them! It can save your life!! Remember that System Edström is only a tool for good order and safety in your vehicle, at the end of the day it is up to you how effective this tool will function in your every day life. When you equip your vehicle with the tools and spare parts you ll need, remember to PUT the items in place. If you just throw in place you can damage tools, parts and the interior. Use drawer inserts and plastic bins as much as possible, it will keep your stuff in place. It also avoids unnecessary noise and damage to tools/parts. Benefit from a quieter life by using plastic foam in the drawers, it s also prevents damage to tools and parts. Rubber mats in the shelves are a matter of course for us. Again, it reduces noise and your tools and parts stay in place. Now that you have chosen to have System Edström in your vehicle you have taken the first and most important step to make your mobile workshop safe and functional. From here on it is up to you how safe and functional your working place will be. Remember; You as the driver has the full responsibility if you or any one else is injured because the cargo is poorly secured.
