7 CUD & CUB UPBLAST FANS PRODUCT SPECIFICATION GUIDE 1.0 GENERAL A. Fans shall be model CUD Direct Drive or CUB Belt Drive Upblast Fans as manufactured by Continental Fan Manufacturing Inc., of Buffalo, NY, and of the size and capacity as indicated on the drawings and fan schedule. 2.0 FAN HOUSING DIRECT DRIVE MODEL CUD A. Fan housing shall be constructed of spun aluminum, roof or wall mount, and direct drive configuration. B. The discharge apron shall have a rolled bead for added strength. C. Curb base shall be constructed of welded galvanized steel. D. The motor mounting plate shall be constructed of heavy gauge steel and isolated from the fan structure with vibration isolators. E. Motor compartment shall be of a two piece construction, the top cap has quick release clips for easy access. 2.1 FAN HOUSING BELT DRIVE MODEL CUB A. Fan housing shall be constructed of spun aluminum, roof or wall mount (up to model CUB /2HP), and belt drive configuration. B. The discharge apron shall have a rolled bead for added strength. C. Curb base shall be constructed of welded galvanized steel. D. The motor mounting plate shall be constructed of heavy gauge steel and isolated from the fan structure with vibration isolators. E. Motor compartment shall be of a two piece construction, the top cap has quick release clips for easy access. 3.0 FAN IMPELLER A. Centrifugal impeller shall be backward inclined, non overloading. B. The blades and inlets shall be fabricated from aluminum. C. The blades shall be welded to the wheel inlet cone. 4.0 FAN MOTOR AND DRIVE A. Motor shall be ODP. B. Motor shall be of voltage, horsepower, RPM and enclosure as indicated on the fan schedule. C. The fan sheaves shall be cast iron, adjustable pitch, appropriately sized and aligned (CUB models only). D. The belts shall be static conducting, plus oil and heat resistant (CUB models only). E. The fan shaft shall be precision ground and polished (CUB models only). F. The fan shaft bearings shall be heavy duty, pre lubricated (CUB models only). 5.0 OPTIONAL FAN ACCESSORIES A. Where indicated, fan shall be provided with the following optional accessories: Gravity Dampers Motorized Dampers Roof curb (vented or non vented) Wall mount brackets Bird screen 6.0 FAN TESTING A. Centrifugal impeller shall be balanced and mounted in fan assembly. B. Fan assembly shall be run and tested prior to shipment. C. A test report shall be maintained on file for each individual fan. 7
