1 SC Highway 41 Existing Conditions Existing Typical Cross Section purposes only and does not replace the required NEPA process necessary for alignment The NEPA process is anticipated to begin in the next 4 months and will take approximately 18 Varies Shoulder 14 ft 14 ft Varies Shoulder The section of SC Highway 41 within the Town of Mount Pleasant is approximately 4.6 miles and extends from US 17 to the Berkeley County Line near the Wando River. The roadway currently operates between a Level of Service (LOS) D and F. There are currently three signalized locations along the segment: US 17 at SC-41 SC 41 at Joe Rouse Road SC 41 at Dunes West Blvd/Rivertowne Parkway 7 Existing Right-of-way Historical Traffic Counts SC 41 Count Location SCDOT AADT (veh/day) Route Location 2013 US 17 to Joe Rouse Rd 19,700 Joe Rouse Rd to Berkeley County Line 12,300 The widening of SC Highway 41 is identified in the Charleston Area Transportation Study (CHATS) and The Town of Mount Pleasant s Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). There are three logical segments that are identified for both planning and phasing purposes: US 17 to Joe Rouse Road Joe Rouse Road to Dunes West Boulevard Dunes West Boulevard to the new Wando River Bridge The existing right-of-way is 37. either side of the roadway centerline, for a total width of 7. Existing speed limit ranges from 45 mph to 55 mph. Three year crash history indicates the facility has a lower crash history than other urban minor arterials with similar volumes.
