The (trapezoidal or high-helix thread) remains dry in operation, and dirt cannot stick to lubricants. This means that drylin can be used in extremely contaminated environments as well as in hygienic applications. Classic format adjustments and lifting applications can be implemented with the self-braking trapezoidal threads. Quick adjustments or handling utilize the high ratio of the high helix thread. These nuts, compared to the nuts requiring maintenance and lubrication, offer substantial advantages especially for the application areas in packaging technology (cleaning) and applications involving high dust formation (textile machines). Wet Area For applications in humid environments, especially in wet areas, the trapezoidal nuts made of iglidur J should be used. The iglidur J material exhibits very low moisture absorption. iglidur J, page 89 Temperature drylin thread nuts, made of mainteance-free iglidur materials, are strictly for use in temperatures ranging from 20 C to +90 C. Please notice: In addition to change of clearance situation due to thermal expansion there is also a change in the maximum permitted load. With particularly low or high temperatures and high loads it is recommended to check the suitability of the thread nuts by practical tests. Testing of TR Linear Screw Drives drylin TR linear screw are manufactured to comply with the DIN 103 standard. The testing takes place by means of a standard thread gage after production. For thread sizes that are not listed in the standard table, DIN 103 is converted to the corresponding size. The hygroscopic and thermal properties of the material are to be considered in the selection. Dimension changes can occur through moisture and/or heat in the application. For these reasons, a general DIN-compliance cannot be guaranteed. The use of plastic trapezoidal nuts for precision drive is therefore not recommended without testing first. It is recommended that both the nut and the are purchased from a single supplier. Leadscrews are tested with thread gauges corresponding to DIN 103. The selection of the material depends heavily on the nut material. In general, drylin TR nuts can be used with steel, stainless steel or hard anodized alumnium nuts. Trapezoidal Leadscrew Selection The load capacity of the trapezoidal nuts made of high-performance polymers is dependent on the surface pressure, the surface speed and the resultant temperature. The temperature behavior is additionally influenced by the duty cycle as well as the selected material and the specific heat conductivity. The surface pressure of the drylin trapezoidal nuts should not exceed 5 MPa long term.
