2 Introduction Working at Height Regulations The Work at Height Regulations, introduced in 200, apply to all work at where there is risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury. Employers and those that control the work of others are responsible for making sure the Regulations are adhered to. If work at cannot be avoided, use equipment that will prevent a fall. Where risk of a fall cannot be eliminated, use work equipment or other measures that will minimise the distance and consequences of a fall Risk Assessment A risk assessed is a risk reduced. We therefore recommend that you take into account the following criteria when choosing the right access equipment: Height differential, frequency and duration of work, material/tools to be used, complexity of the task to be carried out, number of persons involved, as well as location and environmental factors such as the weather and ground. Selecting the right item of access equipment Ladders and Stepladders Ladders are primarily suited to short-duration tasks (lasting less than 0 minutes) involving low levels of risk. Standards: (10 Kilo load rating), some models also comply with standard BS 207 Class 1 (17 Kilo load rating). Zarges Work s Work platforms are appropriate for longer tasks involving the use of heavy materials or tooling. They bridge the gap between ladders and mobile scaffolds. Standards: Work platforms meet the requirements of the European standards or EN 100 as well as either the French NF or German BGI 67 standard.
