2 Welcome home Our home is the place to which we always return. It is familiar to us because we have prepared it for ourselves: the people with whom we share this place and many things around us peppered with countless memories. Not everything is always perfect, but everything belongs to us. A place that changes. There are many things we do not really need but we keep them because we associate something with them. And many things we do not perceive because they are so familiar to us. System M integrates itself into these worlds even if each world is different. This is due to its functionality, its clear forms and the idea behind it. Systems offer the advantage that you can combine elements individually which can be modified and supplemented. By this you get exactly what you really need. This will always become something of its own. Many variations also allow to plan the matching configuration. And if it does not already exist we are able to adjust System M, for example with a special colour. 2 3

3 System M Shelf System M Shelf is a modular system of vertical wall profiles in various lengths which allow the mounting of shelves, corpora, panels and tables in any position. The grid dimensions are 80 and 120 cm. The suspension is carried out by bottom supports which can be inserted from the front into the profile and placed in the grid of 4 cm. The grid is inside the profiles and almost invisible. Numerous elements are available for mounting, usually even with different depths to allow configurations according to individual requirements. The interior fittings of the corpora can be provided with various applications for private use as well as for use in the office. All accessories can later easily be added. In addition to being able to mount the vertical wall profiles directly onto the wall, the shelf can also be mounted in front of the wall supported on the floor. 7 System M Sideboard Wall mounted System M Sideboard is a modular system consisting of corpora with different heights which are hung side by side on invisible horizontal wall profiles. The grid dimensions are 80 and 120 cm. The corpora in the heights of 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 file levels can be combined with one another as desired. The equipment is individual: open, with hinged doors or drawers. The interiors can be realized with a variety of assignments for private use as well as for office use. All accessories can later easily be added. Everything can be reassembled and changed: first hung on the wall and then placed on the floor because the same corpus can be placed free on feet as well as on castors up to a height of 1.5 file levels. 8 System M Sideboard Free-standing System M Sideboard is a modular system consisting of corpora with different heights that can be combined side by side. The grid dimensions are 80 and 120 cm. The corpora in the heights of 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 file levels can be placed on feet as well as on castors up to a height of 1.5 file levels. The equipment is individual: open, with hinged doors or drawers. The interior fittings can be used in various applications for private use as well as for office use. Safety brackets or counterweights are used to secure against the wall or as a weight to compensate the use of drawers. Back panels are available for free positioning of the corpora in the room. All accessories can later easily be added. And if the situation changes the same corpus can be hung on the wall with a horizontal wall profile up to a height of 2 file levels. Design: Thomas Merkel,

15 Thomas Merkel Designer Thomas Merkel has been working with system furniture for more than 20 years. The collection of S + Systemmöbel currently consists of eight designs of Thomas Merkel: in addition to shelves and corpora, also tables and side tables are included. System M is based on experience with system furniture and combines two classic themes of furniture history: the shelf and the corpus furniture. In 1936, Charlotte Perriand had shown a metal shelf consisting of vertical wall profiles and shelves during the exhibition Living Room of Today and added it with her own wooden cabinets. Open shelves are an old theme which is constantly being reinterpreted. With today s technical possibilities, products can be produced differently. So the turn-around, the bending of sheet by 180, is an element which is used for System M. It creates stability and allows narrow silhouettes which give a uniform language to the different elements. With System M all open and closed elements have been combined successfully. I particularly appreciate the corpora because they form a separate system consisting of the same components, whether 1 or 3 file levels, whether open or closed, with a door or with a drawer.
