It all starts in Florence, aka Firenze, the beauty at the Arno river. From here we go South to the Chianti region, surrounded by the typical cypresses, castles and historic towns all around us, as we cruise towards Siena. The horse race that made Siena famous, Il Palio, is held annually, right in downtown, on the shellshaped Piazza del Campo. Siena is an amazing place, so a rest day here is more than justified. In Assisi, home town of St. Francis, who gave away his wealth to help the poor, the giant cathedral and the pretty old town attract countless pilgrims from around the world. It s definitively worth another rest day! Next we head to San Marino, the city which is an independent country and the world s oldest republic. Explore its castles and fortresses or take your bike out on the surrounding roads. Rest day? Absolutely! Download Story Marcos Barros, Brazil Tuscany, being the heart of Italy since ancient times, has rolling hills filled with olives, vines and various fruits (there is always a scent in the air as you ride by). The stone farmhouses and hilltop villages are always special in their character and history. The great roads weave through such beauty it is hard to find a motorcycle tour anywhere else quite like it (and I have done the tour twice, back to back). And, of course, the special towns of San Gimignano, Siena and Assisi are unlike anywhere else, too. And should the land and architecture fail to entrance, the food and wine certainly will at the end of a day s glorious riding.
