Important legal note about drift trikes Drift trikes are not road legal in Australia. They must not be ridden on public roads. If they are ridden on public roads you may receive heavy fines for riding a nonconforming vehicle illegally. We would like you to be aware of this and Leitner does under no circumstances take liability for issues involving riding a drift trike illegally.

Safety warnings -riding a drift trike can be a hazardous activity and therefore the trike needs to be maintained properly and a safety check needs to be done before each ride. Using the bike may result in injury or death in the case of accidents. Leitner does not assume any liability, including injury or property damage to the extent permitted by the law. Use the product with care and at your own risk. -read all instructions and safety warnings before use including the manual available at -always wear closed shoes, helmet (full faced is best) and protective equipment (elbow and knee pads, gloves etc) when riding the drift trike. Do not wear loose clothes to prevent entangling in the wheels -make sure that the area which is used for drifting is flat and smooth, like asphalt or concrete and make sure the area is free of hazards, including glass, rocks, hard objects, cars and pedestrians -ride the bike carefully as it may flip, especially when it rolls backwards or slides sideways -if you are rolling backwards, engage brakes as soon as possible. Do not attempt to steer the drift trike while rolling backwards, as it increases risk of flipping. -keep hands on handle-grips, within the boundaries of the handle-bar. If part of the hands go over the end of the handle-grip there is the risk that the hand is squashed between the handle-bar and an object, e.g. wall or the ground, if falling. -only use if 18 years or older -do not ride in rain, do not ride through puddles or the surf. Do not immerse in water -perform a safety check before each ride and also every 10 minutes while riding as drifting may loosen up bolts. All parts need to be installed safely and all nuts and bolts need to be tight. If in doubt have the safety check done by a local bike shop. The following parts needs special attention during the safety check: front brake needs to brake effectively, all nuts and bolts need to sit tight, the brake cable must not slip, the brake pads must be close to the disc and be able to bring the trike to a stop safely. The brake wire end must be cut to 2cm length and the end must be protected. front wheel needs to spin freely when lifted off the ground and turned by hand. handle bars need to be installed stably to prevent movement during use. To test the handle-bar, walk to the front of the trike, put the wheel between your knees an turn the handle-bar. That should not dislodge the handle-bar. Also lift the front wheel and turn the handle bar while it s off the ground. It should be easy to turn. If there is resistance it indicates that the handlebar is not installed correctly and that it may cause damage when using the trike. Handlebar-grips need to be tight and the metal ring which covers the ends of the handle bars need to be tight. The whole hand needs to be on the handle-grip. throttle needs to disengage when released. Carefully lift front wheel so that it can spin freely. Carefully activate the throttle for 1 second. Confirm that the throttle disengages when released. rear axle: the bolts and nuts which hold the rear axle to the frame need to sit tight. They must not be loose due to the danger of the rear axle detaching from the bike. seat: the bolts which hold the seat need to be tight and safe. Motor cable: must not touch the wheel when riding the bike. battery needs to be installed safely. Check bolts and bracket. PVC sleeves on rear wheels: check if they sit tight. They should not move and they should sit in the centre of the wheel and they should cover the part of the rear wheels which is in contact with the surface completely. The rear tyres need to be inflated sufficiently in order to allow the PVC sleeves to sit tightly on the wheels Contact or sales@leitner.com.au for any questions

Assembly instructions When unpacking the trike take care not to rip any wires. The motor wire of the front wheel is connected to the controller of the trike at the back, therefore always handle all parts carefully. If removing the packaging with scissors or a paper knife, make sure not to scratch the trike.

Before you start: Check the bike for damage or missing parts Please note that trikes are fragile items. Although we are using first class courier services and the trikes are professionally packed it may happen that they get damaged during transit. Please check the trike for damage upon arrival and let us know immediately. We will then work with you on a solution. If there are any missing parts please also let us know immediately and we will send a replacement part as soon as possible. Call or sales@leitner.com.au

Installing the controller plate View from the top: remove the two bolts which hold the controller board to the frame. The controller board is only installed this way for safety during transport. The plate needs to be flipped so that the controller sits at the bottom side of the trike (see next page).

View from the top: Turn the controller board upside down so that the controller sits at the underside of the trike and re-attach the two bolts (arrows).

Installing the axle with rear wheels View from the bottom Turn the frame around so that the bottom of the trike faces up and remove the centre bolt at the rear axle.

View from the bottom Prepare to attach the rear axle to the frame Line the 3 openings up as straight as possible and push the rear axle into the frame. View from the bottom

View from the bottom nut split washer bolt Insert the left bolt in the left opening, the centre bolt with the plate in the centre opening and the right bolt in the right opening. For optimum grip it is recommended to insert a split washer between the nut and the frame as the rear axle will be exposed to a lot of stress while drifting which may lead to bolts loosening over time. Please refer to next image to see the correctly installed rear axle. The washers and nuts should sit at the underside of the trike. The head of the screws and the centre plate should sit on top of the trike.

view from the bottom correctly installed rear axle (the trike is turned upside down). Please note that the nuts and split washers are at the underside of the trike. view from top correctly installed rear axle. The centre plate should sit on top of the trike.

Installing the seat Install the seat using the four nuts and washers at the position indicated by the arrows. These are the four screw holes towards the front of the bike. View from the bottom

Installing the fork Apply grease Apply grease 1) Grease the inside of the head-tube with bike grease, top and bottom of headset (arrows). It is important to apply grease, otherwise the headset and fork might get damaged.

Remove these rings Remove the top rubber cap to expose the bolt. Remove the bolt. Don t remove the two rings at the bottom (big silver ring, small silver ring)

Close up: please note the correct sequence of the washers and nut Do not apply force when inserting the fork into the head-tube. If the black wire, which runs from the front motor to the back of the trike is too short and therefore prevents the fork from being inserted into the frame, remove the front wheel from the fork. Loosen the bolts and washers (arrows) with a spanner, then insert the fork into the frame (see next pages) and re-insert the wheel afterwards, tightening the bolts safely.

The bottom two silver rings remain on the fork. Make sure that the blunt edge of the big silver ring faces UP (arrow), then insert the fork into the headtube. The fork has been inserted through the head-tube. Make sure that the two bottom silver rings align nicely with the bottom part of the head-tube. The rings should sit inside the black cradle of the bottom head-tube.

After inserting the fork into the head-tube, insert the second large silver ring, this time the blunt edge of the ring should face DOWN (long arrow). Correctly installed second large silver ring (short arrow).

Add the large black ring (short arrow), then the three small black rings (long arrow). Then, Insert the handle-bar

Tighten the top screw and also both screws on the side (arrows). It is important that the handle-bar sits tightly so that it won t move while riding it. If you need any help please contact us or your local bike store.

footrest The footrest can be installed (left and right) by hand. Simply screw it onto the front wheel axle until it sits tight.

Installing the front brake wire Ball end 2) Grab the ball end and pull the wire out of it s black housing. 1) 1) Loosen the bolt which holds the brake wire. Use an Allen key. metal cap If a metal cap is on the wire which prevents the wire from being pulled out of the black housing, carefully remove the metal cap with pliers. Try not to fray the wire. This will make it easier to put the wire back into the black housing later.

Insert the ball end of the wire in the brake lever housing as shown in the picture above (long arrow). Push the wire through the brake housing (short arrow).

Push the wire back into the black housing cable until it comes out on the other end. If the wire is frayed, and it becomes too hard to thread it back into the black housing cable, remove about 1 cm of the wire with a clean cut using a plier and try to thread it again.

Thread the wire through the barrel adjuster (arrow).

Thread the wire through the mechanism which holds the wire in place as shown in the picture.

B 1) Make sure the metal end of the brake housing sits inside the barrel adjuster (B). The silver thread of the barrel should stick out about 1mm below the black part. If necessary, turn the barrel to adjust the thread. A 1mm 2) Push the arm (A) carefully up, anti-clockwise until it won t move any further, tighten the cable by hand and tighten the Allen bolt to hold it in place (long arrow). Push the brake lever and get a feel of the brake. If the lever is very hard and the wheel won t spin freely if you lift it, turn the barrel (B) clockwise until the brakes work safely. If the brake lever is very soft and the brakes won t stop the wheel from spinning, turn the barrel (B) anti-clockwise until the brakes work safely. If these brief instructions won t adjust the brakes to allow them to operate safely, please refer to detailed brake adjustment instructions on the following pages or have them adjusted by a local bike professional.

Important information about disc brakes Disc brakes are considered to perform better than standard v-brakes, especially in wet conditions. Please note that brand new disc brakes need braking in. This means it may take a few weeks until they perform optimally. Ride your trike very carefully and allow plenty of time for braking. Please find below a guide on how to adjust the disc-brakes. You may have to re-adjust them several times during the brake-in period. Brakes need to be re-adjusted regularly, also after the brake-in period. This is normal as brake pads will wear down. Before each ride, make sure that the brake works well and follow the guide below to maintain the brake. If you need any help, please contact us on or ask your local bike shop for help. It is your responsibility to make sure the brakes are maintained correctly before each ride and that the bike is safe to use. Adjusting the disk brakes Simply put, a disc brake consists of a disc which is between two brake pads (inner and outer brake pad). See picture on next page. Pushing the brake lever will push the outer pad against the disk and the inner pad. The friction will cause the bike to slow down. The pads need to be adjusted to be as close to the disc as possible without rubbing much. Slight rubbing is normal initially and will get better after the break-in phase.

Close up view of disk brake (perspective of rider while sitting on seat) O I disk I: Inner brake pad O: Outer brake pad W: front wheel w The distance between the brake pads and the disk should be as small as possible without causing too much rubbing of the pads against the disk. The tiny gap between the brake pads and the disc can be best seen against white background. Leitner 2014

How to adjust the outer brake pad B 1) Before adjusting the brake, push and release the brake lever 10 times. This tightens the brake cable. It may loosen up again in time and you may have to repeat this step. 2) Turn the barrel (B) to make fineadjustments. Clock-wise: pad will move away from the disc. anti-clockwise: pads move closer to disc 3) Loosen this hex bolt (long arrow), pull cable through tightly by hand, then tighten bolt. The more tension on the cable, the smaller the distance between the brake pad and the disc. Leitner 2014

How to adjust the inner brake pad Adjusting the inner brake pads takes some time as the adjustment screws are covered by the large motor. It is necessary to remove the brake calliper from the fork. It is recommended to first adjust the outer brake pads, which in many cases will provide sufficient brake performance. If adjustment of the inner brake pads is necessary, please follow the steps below. Remove the two bolts and washers (arrows) using an Allen key, then carefully slide the calliper off the disc towards the right hand side. Leitner 2014

Use a small Allen key to loosen the small lock screw (arrow). After this screw is loose, it will be possible to turn the inner brake pad socket (S) using a larger Allen key. S Turning the socket clock-wise will move the inner brake pad closer to the disc and turning the socked anti-clockwise will move the inner brake pad away from the disc. Use the small lock screw to lock the socket in the desired position. Warning: the socket must not touch the front wheel. When re-installing the brake calliper, make sure the socket is not touching the front wheel!

Adjusting the tilt of the brake pads In some cases it may be necessary to adjust the tilt of the brake pads in order to align them straight next to the disc (parallel to the disc). Turn the Allen pin (arrow) with an Allen key to adjust the tilt. It is recommended to watch the brake pad alignment to the disc closely while turning the Allen pin. P The picture on the left shows brake pads which are not parallel. They are in a V shape and the tilt needs to be adjusted. Warning: turning the Allen pin may cause the pin to protrude on the other side of the calliper (P, bottom left corner). The pin must not touch the front wheel. After adjusting the tilt of the brake pads, slowly spin the front wheel by hand and make sure the pin is not touching the front wheel. Adjust if necessary.

Trim brake wire ~2 cm The brake wire must be cut at a short length of about ~2cm so that it won t be possible for the wire to accidentally get entangled in the front wheel or between the front brake disc callipers.

Protect end of brake wire OR Tape Use a metal cap to protect the end of the brake wire. The end of the brake wire is sharp and may cause injury. Use a flat plier to attach the metal cap to the brake wire. Alternatively, several layers of duct tape can be used to protect the end.

Inflate tyres Warning! Do not ride the trike without inflating the tyres! The PVC sleeves may become loose and fall off the rear wheels! Inflate front and rear tyres using a bicycle pump. Connect pump to the valve (arrows). Refer to the recommended pressure on the tyres. As a general rule 50psi for the front tyre and 55 psi for the rear tyres is recommended. PVC sleeves on rear wheels: check if they sit tight. They should not move and they should sit in the centre of the wheel and they should cover the part of the rear wheels which is in contact with the surface completely. Rear tyres. The valve is short and black and you may have to look closely to find it. Front tyre

Enough slack cable to turn wheel Managing the motor cable Warning! Do not ride the trike without managing the motor cable! It may cause serious damage! The black cable going to the motor must not touch the wheel. If the wire touches the wheel it may cause damage to the wire. Use cable ties to keep the wire in place as shown in the picture. Trim the cable tie ends, use a file to get rid of any sharp cable tie edges and point the ends of the cable tie in a safe direction so that it won t interfere with the rider when drifting. Make sure there is enough slack cable on top where the cable enters the frame (arrow). Carefully turn the front wheel all the way left and right to make sure the cable is long enough.

Close up pictures of the two bottom cable ties (arrows). C W Right image: Note that the motor cable (C) does not touch the wheel (W).

Installing the battery platform Battery bracket To install the battery, remove the two Allen bolts and washers of the rear axle (arrows). Place the battery on the platform and align the bracket with the sockets for the Allen bolts (arrows).

P Carefully insert the Allen bolt and washer BY HAND into the socket. Do not use a tool. If a tool is used it may cross-thread and damage the socket. Screw the bolt in by hand. It should be easy to screw it in if it s inserted straight and correctly. If there is resistance, un-screw the bolt and insert again. Once the bolt has been screwed in by hand about 5mm, then use an Allen key to tighten it up safely. Repeat on other side. Connect battery to power cable (P). To remove battery, do the steps in reverse.

Charging the battery The trikes are equipped with quality Lithium batteries. Lithium batteries are a modern technology which is not suffering from memory effects like some older battery types, which means that Lithium batteries can be charged anytime, also e.g. if they were only half discharged. It is recommended to charge the battery after each ride. This will not reduce the battery life. To charge the battery, connect the charger to the battery (arrow) and then connect the charger to the power point. The battery can be charged on the trike or also when the battery is removed from the trike.

Charging the battery The charger is a smart charger, which means it will automatically stop charging when the battery is full. Red light: charging Green light: fully charged Do not cover fan! Warning: the charger may get very hot while charging. Always keep it away from material which can catch fire. If there is a fan inside the charger, do not cover the opening of the fan. Leitner 2015

Switching the battery ON and OFF Battery OFF Battery ON Insert the key into the lock and refer to the positions above.

Battery Care & Storage Lithium batteries must not be stored if fully discharged. If your battery is fully discharged, charge it as soon as possible. Storing the battery if fully discharged for long periods will damage the battery. It is recommend to store the batteries fully charged and then charge it every two months. It is not necessary to leave the charger connected to the battery if stored for long periods. Just top the charge up every two months.

Check battery charge Grey button Install the battery and connect it to the power cable of the bike. Push the grey button (arrow) to switch the power on. The display on the right hand side handlebar has 3 lights: NO lights illuminated: Battery OFF or battery completely empty GREEN, YELLOW and RED light: FULL battery charge YELLOW and RED light: MEDIUM battery charge RED light: LOW battery charge

Using the thumb throttle Throttle OFF Throttle ON (maximum) The thumb throttle is located on the right hand side of the handle bar. To activate it, use your thumb to push the black lever down (arrow). Acceleration is gradual, that means the further you push it down, the faster the trike goes. Please note that engaging the brake on the left hand side will NOT switch off the motor. Do not use throttle and brakes at the same time as it may damage the motor.

Handle-grip safety check R If the outer ring (R) doesn t sit tightly, perform the steps below Use an Allen key to remove the outer bolt (arrow), then remove the outer metal ring (R) P P If the two plastic parts (P) of the handle-grip protrude more than 1 mm from the handle-bar as shown in the picture, the outer metal ring may fall off while riding. It is necessary to move both grips towards the centre of the handle-bar. Loosen both Allen screws (arrows) on both handle-grips (left and right hand side)

Loosen the Allen screw (arrow) under the thumb throttle (right hand side) Loosen the Allen screw (arrow) on top of the brake lever (left hand side)

slide Slide the handle-grip towards the centre of the handle-bar, so that the plastic parts only protrude about 1mm from the handle-bar. Re-attach the outer ring, tighten all bolts and tighten all parts including the brake lever (left hand side). Perform same steps on right hand side grip and throttle. Make sure the outer metal ring sits tightly and won t come off.

Safety Warning: positions of hands on handle-grip Correct: The whole hand should be on the handle-grip. Left hand shown. The same applies to the right hand. Incorrect: Do not hold the handle-bar at its end. This increases risk of injury. The hand may get caught between the handle-bar and and object, e.g. a wall or the ground (if falling) which could cause serious injury to the hand.

Replacing brake pads 1) Remove the two bolts and washers (arrows) using an Allen key, then carefully slide the calliper off the disc towards the right hand side. 2) Put the brake calliper on a flat surface and remove the two bolts (arrows) using an Allen key, then carefully take off the inner calliper.

P P C 3)Take off the two brake pads (P) and the metal clip (C) 4) Remove the old brake pads from the metal clip (direction of arrow) and replace with new brake pads. Re-install the brake pads and calliper by following the steps in reverse order. Please note the disc rotor needs to go between the brake pads. Please refer to the adjusting the brake section in this manual.

If the metal ring and the metal disc fall out, re-assemble them as follows 1 3 2

Have the trike checked after initial assembly by a bike professional, followed by a check-up after the first use and regular professional servicing. If you need any assistance, please contact us on sales@leitner.com.au or Enjoy your drift trike
