It is very important for your safety that you follow the guidelines, instructions and set-up information in this owner s manual or on our website. Rider Connect is a website where you can register your product, save and search tuning settings with DVO s own mytunes, and create a custom DVO profile where you can share with your friends and fans. DVO TECH Go to for setup, service guides and tuning information. DVO Tech has detailed information and articles on suspension setup and tuning to help you understand how suspension works. It also shows how each adjustment affects the performance of your suspension product. Detailed step by step instructions and videos are available to show you how to properly perform service jobs such as changing seals and oil to more advanced tasks like damper services. Throughout this manual, reference is made that an accident could occur. Any accident may cause damage to the product, SERIOUS INJURY, OR DEATH. These instructions contain important information about the correct installation, guidelines for set-up, service and maintenance of your suspension product. Nevertheless, please be informed that special knowledge and tools are essential to install, service and to maintain DVO Suspension products. Common mechanical knowledge may not be sufficient to repair service or maintain your product. Therefore we strongly recommend getting your product installed, serviced and/or maintained by a trained and qualified bicycle mechanic. Improper installation, service or maintenance can result in an accident. Suspension products contain fluids and air under extreme pressure. DO NOT attempt to disassemble any portion of a DVO Suspension product unless instructed to do so by a DVO Suspension authorized technician. Only use genuine DVO Suspension replacement parts. Modification, improper service, or the use of aftermarket replacement or spare parts may result in an accident and VOIDS the warranty of your suspension product. DVO Suspension products are designed for the usage by a single rider only. DO NOT use DVO Suspension products on any motorized bicycle, or motorized vehicle. Always be equipped with proper safety gear. This includes a properly fitted and fastened helmet. According to your riding style you should use additional safety protection. Make sure your equipment is in flawless condition. Make sure you select the correct product according to your frame, size and your riding style. Installing a product that does not match the geometry of your frame could result in a failure of the product itself and void the product s warranty. Installing a suspension product will change the geometry and handling of your bike. Learn how to ride and train your skills. Know your limits and never ride beyond those. 4 FRAME PREPARATION Cable Installation Internal Routing Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the lower post body and wipe with a lint free rag. Make sure the inner seat tube of your frame is wiped clean from all dirt and debris. Apply a moderate amount of friction paste to inside of the frame s seat tube to keep the post from slipping when riding. INTERNAL ROUTING Note: The spring inside the small parts bag is NOT used for the internal cable routed post. WARNING! Do Not Use Grease! Using grease will cause the post to slip while riding. Elbow Barrel Adjuster Remote Lever Installation Install the remote lever onto your handlebar. Do not exceed 2-3 Nm s of torque. Make sure to check for clearance between the remote lever and any brake or Remote Cable End Cap 4. shifter controls. Note: The remote lever can be used on either side of the handlebar. Refer to the handlbar manufacturer s instructions for use on carbon bars. 4. Install the remote on the handlebar. Feed the cable through the remote. Feed the cable through the elbow barrel adjuster. Feed the cable into the housing. Make sure the cable end is on the housing before you feed the cable through. Push the cable all the way through the housing. 5 Cable Installation Internal Routing Cable Installation Internal Routing 9. Route cable housing from your lever into your frame s internal routing port. 14. Once you have measured out 11mm s of gap, place the locking nut on the cable. Use a 3mm wrench and a 2mm wrench to tighten the lock nut Push the housing through the frame until the housing emerges from the seat tube as shown in the image. Trim any excess cable. 1 Measure the required length of cable and cable housing by turning your handlebars to their most extreme turned position. 15. Place the locking nut into the release arm on the bottom of the post. Insert the locking nut first, then rotate the cable downward so it fits within the groove. 1 1 With the handlebars turned, you need approximately 2 inches (50mm) of exposed cable emerging from the seat tube. (as shown) If it is too long, trim the housing. Do not trim the cable itself! Once you have the correct housing length, now it is time to set the correct cable length. The protective cover on the bottom of the seatpost has a measuring indicator. Use this to measure an 11mm gap from the housing to the end of the cable. 11mm 50mm 16. Once the cable is securely placed into the release arm, pull on the cable from the remote end to lower the post into the frame. Torque the seat clamp device to the frame manufacturer s lowest specification. 6 Cable Installation External Routing Cable Installation External Routing EXTERNAL ROUTING Note: The spring inside the small parts bag will be used for this installation. 5. Route your cable in the desired direction as shown in an example above. Please refer to the frame manufacturer s desired cable routing specifications. Remote Elbow Barrel Adjuster Measure the required length of cable and cable housing by turning your handlebars to their most extreme turned position. Once you have the handlebars turned, check to see if you have the correct amount of cable showing above the seat tube. If it is too long, trim the housing. Do not trim the cable itself! Image 2 Cable End Cap Image mm 4. Install the remote on the handlebar. Feed the cable through the remote. Feed the cable through the elbow barrel adjuster. Feed the cable into the housing. Make sure the cable end is on the housing before you feed the cable through. Push the cable all the way through the housing. Continue on to the next page 7. Once you have the cable housing trimmed to the proper length, you can now set the length of the cable. There needs to be a 15mm gap between the end of the cable and the end of the housing as shown in image Once you have measured out 15mm s of gap, place the locking nut on the cable. 7 Seat Post Installation Saddle Installation Install the seatpost at the desired height. Your seatpost must be inserted into the seat tube with a minimum of 120mm of post insertion. Or the minimum amount specified by your frame manufacturer; whichever is greater. Torque the seat clamp device to the frame manufacturer s lowest specification. Do not exceed 6.7 Nm(60 in-lb) as this will prevent the seatpost from functioning properly. 5 5 Adjust your saddle to the angle of your preference, then use a 5mm hex to tighten each seat clamp bolt, in an alternating fashion, to 15Nm. Saddle Alignment Align the seatpost to the frame. If necessary, loosen the seat clamp device on your frame and align your seatpost so that the saddle is in line with the top tube of your frame. Minimum Insertion You must install your seatpost so that the minimum required seatpost length is inside the frame s seat tube. Re-torque the seat clamp device to the frame manufacturer s specifications or 5-6Nm (40-60 in-lb), whichever is lower. Adjusting the Return Speed WARNING! Installing the seatpost with less than the minimum length required for insertion can cause damage to the seatpost and/or bicycle frame which can cause the seatpost and/or bicycle frame to fail, which can lead to serious injury and/or death. Adjusting the air pressure in the seat post will affect the return speed. A higher pressure will result in a faster return, a lower pressure will result in a slower return. Attach a compatible shock pump and adjust to your desired pressure. Recommended operating pressure is 120 to 150psi(8.5 to 10.3bar). 8 Limited TWO (2) Year Warranty Limited TWO (2) Year Warranty LIMITED TWO (2) YEAR Warranty If any component of your DVO Suspension product is found to be defective in materials or workmanship within the term of this Limited Two Year Warranty (the Agreement ), the defective component will be repaired or replaced, at the option of DVO Suspension free of charge, within thirty (30) days after receipt of the Suspension product by an authorized DVO Suspension dealer, freight prepaid, together with the original retail invoice or other evidence of the date of purchase. NOT COVERED: This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents, alteration, neglect, misuse, abuse, or improper use, lack of reasonable or proper maintenance, improper assembly, repairs improperly performed or replacement parts or accessories not conforming to DVO Suspension s specifications, modifications not recommended or approved in writing by DVO Suspension activities such as acrobatics, stunt jumping, ramp riding, racing, commercial use, and / or normal wear or deterioration occasioned by the use of the product. Items subject to normal wear or deterioration include but are not limited to oil, dust seals, oil seals, and bushings. In addition, this warranty is void in the event that the forks are used with any rental bicycles, unless DVO Suspension provided prior approval in writing for such use. This warranty also does not include any expenses related to the transportation of the DVO Suspension product to or from an authorized DVO Suspension dealer, labor costs to remove the DVO Suspension product from the bicycle, or compensation for inconvenience or loss of use while the DVO Suspension product is being repaired. This warranty will be automatically void if serial number of the DVO Suspension product is altered, erased, defaced or otherwise subject to any tampering. PURCHASER. This warranty is made by DVO Suspension with only the original purchaser of the DVO Suspension product and does not extend to any third parties. The rights of the original purchaser under this warranty may not be assigned. DAMAGES. Except as expressly provided by this warranty, DVO Suspension SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF THE DVO SUSPENSION PRODUCT OR A CLAIM UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, WHETHER THE CLAIM IS BASED ON CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE. The foregoing statements of warranty are exclusive and lieu of all other remedies. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. DISCLAIMER. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES ARISING FROM A COURSE OF DEALING, USAGE OF TRADE, BY STATUTE OR OTHERWISE, IS HEREBY STRICTLY LIMITED TO THE TERM OF THIS WRITTEN WARRANTY. This Agreement shall be the sole and exclusive remedy available to the purchaser with respect to this purchase. In the event of any alleged breach of any warranty or any legal action brought by the purchaser based on alleged negligence or other tortious conduct by DVO Suspension the purchaser s sole and exclusive remedy will be repair or replacement of defective materials as stated above. No dealer and no other agent or employee of DVO Suspension is authorized to modify, extend or enlarge this warranty. WARNING. Always install, repair and use your DVO Suspension product in strict compliance with it s owner s manual. OTHER RIGHTS. This warranty gives you the specific legal rights, and you have also other rights which vary from state to state (USA only). TERM. The term of this warranty shall commence on the date of purchase and shall continue for a period of two (2) years from the date of the original purchase. PROCEDURE. In event of a defect covered by this warranty, the purchaser should contact an authorized DVO Suspension dealer or a DVO Suspension Service Center. APPLICABLE LAW.
