2 No person shall park any vehicle other than a motorcycle or moped in any front or side yard unless the vehicle is parked on a portion of the yard which provides direct access to a garage from the street, or on an improved side yard area having an inorganic surface and a border which defines the parking area. 3 Parking on the lawn Parking is permitted for passenger vehicles and motorcycles in residential lots only on a legal driveway or parking area. A driveway must be constructed with approved parking surfaces such as concrete or asphalt. Auxiliary parking areas may be surfaced with concrete, asphalt or gravel. Only 40% of the front yard may be developed for parking areas, the remaining yard area is to be maintained with live vegetation. Vehicles in front yards must be parked on legally recognized and approved parking surface. LONGMONT, COLORADO

4 Up to seven vehicles which include trailers, boats and recreational vehicles, are allowed on each single-family residential property. Four vehicles per unit are allowed on duplex properties. The total number of vehicles allowed can include up to two inoperable vehicles (see inoperable vehicles for storage requirements). There are no restrictions on the number of operable vehicles that can park on the street (see recreational vehicles section for restrictions on these vehicles). All vehicles must be parked on an improved surface such as concrete, asphalt or gravel. Gravel surfaces need to be a minimum depth of 3 inches and kept free of weeds and other vegetation. Up to 50% of the front yard and 50% of the back yard may be used for parking areas. LAKEWOOD, COLORADO

6 No vehicle, motor vehicle, recreational vehicle, boat or detached camper shall be parked or stored on the premises: Obstructing a sidewalk or public right-of-way; Unless located on a full pad hard surface as defined in Section (b)(67), extending the entire length and width of the vehicle; except for occasional parking such as while washing vehicles or performing home maintenance or improvements such as landscaping, painting, cleaning or construction. 7 Citizens have expressed concerns regarding the unsightly practice of vehicles being parked on lawns and compacted dirt surfaces. They were concerned that properties that have vehicles parked in the front yard or on weeded or dirt areas diminish the aesthetics and property values of their neighborhood and negatively affected the community image. In residential districts on and after August 31, 2009, it shall be unlawful to park motor vehicles in areas meeting the definition of landscaping as defined in Sec on uncontrolled weeds, or on compacted dirt surfaces, unless such surfaces meet the definition of residential driveway as defined herein and said driveways existed prior to August 31, WHEATRIDGE, COLORADO

8 Driveway-an area providing direct access from a public or private street or access easement and leading directly to a garage or other hard surface motor vehicle parking area and not exceeding the width of the garage door or doors or the width of the motor vehicle parking area by more than two feet on either side. Hard surface-durable and dustless materials designed to bear the weight load for the storage of motor vehicles, including concrete, asphalt, compacted crushed stone, compacted gravel, recycled asphalt, open and closed pavers, including turf block pavers and other similar materials.
