More than one-half (55.8%) of the speeding vehicle fatal crashes occurred on roads with a posted speed limit of 40 MPH or less. Passenger vehicles (automobile, station wagon, suv, pickup truck and vans) account for 60% of the speeding vehicle involved fatal crashes. In 2008, 32.6% of the speeding vehicle fatal crashes were motorcycles. Of the total speeding vehicles involved in crashes, automobiles accounted for 61% of the speeding vehicle total crashes.
