2 Motorcycle specs are constantly improving and upgrades in horsepower, reliability and braking have all become emblematic of a fresh model year. We obsess over the newest of the new just as much as the next guy, but no matter how much the OEM s up their game, they can t know how much you weigh, how hard you ride, or the length of your inseam. Why does that matter? When you get in a car you d be able to slide the seat forward to match your height; your weight is only a small percentage of the vehicles and your car is far less likely to tip over when pushed hard. The same can not be said for a motorcycle. The average rider/luggage capacity for a bike is a whopping 70% of the weight of the vehicle, meaning an 800lb Touring bike is rated to carry 550lb of riders and cargo. By comparison, an average 4000lb car tolerates only 20% of that number in load capacity and driver weight is unlikely to bottom out the suspension.
