1 Reserving Parking Through DDOT Thank you for donating to A Wider Circle! When we pick up, we require a parking space for our truck that is legal and within 30 yards of the residence. If you live in Washington, DC and do not have a driveway or loading dock for the truck to access, we ask that you reserve a parking permit through the DC Department of Transportation. Please see pages 2-3 of this guide for step-by-step instructions on how to reserve street parking through the DC Department of Transportation. For more detailed instructions with images, see pages

2 Reserving Parking Through DDOT 1) Go to Click Register to create an account. 2) Select Individual for type of application, and enter your information into the User Information form. 3) After you have registered, go back to the homepage and log in to your account. 4) On the My Account page, click Parking/Occupancy Permit. On the next page, click Apply for Parking Signs/Temporary Occupancy Permits. Then, click Moving Truck. 5) Enter the address of the location where you d like to reserve parking 6) On the next page, enter a description of where the truck will be parking (e.g., in front of the house). For Total Moving Trucks, you should enter 1. 7) For the date and hours that you need to reserve, enter the date of your pickup. You can choose to reserve the space for the entire day, but our pickups are usually between 9am and 5pm, so you can also reserve it just for those hours. 2 2

3 Reserving Parking Through DDOT 8) On the next page, select the type of parking spaces you re reserving. If you re reserving legal parking spaces that don t have meters, you should only select Curb/Parking Lane without Meters. On the following page, enter the number of parking spaces you d like to reserve. DDOT requires that you reserve a minimum of four spaces, which is plenty of space for our truck. You do not need to make any changes to the Total Length or Total Width fields. 9) The next page asks if the parking spaces you re reserving block any restricted spaces. Since you should be reserving a legal parking space, you should select No for each type of space listed. 10) If the pickup is at your home, you can check the box for same as current user on the Permittee Information page. If you are reserving parking for someone else s home, enter their information. You do not need to enter anything for Owner Information. 11) The next page should show that your permit has been approved. You can continue to the final page to pay the $55 permit fee and view the addresses of the police stations and permit offices where you can print the signs to reserve your parking spaces. 3 3

4 To reserve street parking through the District Department of Transportation, you need to create an account on their website. Go to and click Register. 4 4

5 For type of application, select Individual and click next. 5 5

6 Enter your information to create your account. After you have finished registering, go back to the home page. 6 6

7 When you are back at the home page, click Login and enter your username and password to log into your account. 7 7

8 On the My Account page, select enter in the box for Parking/Occupancy Permit. 8 8

10 Select Moving Truck

11 Enter the address of the location where you d like to reserve parking, and click Search/Verify

20 Click Make Online Payment to pay the $55 fee to reserve parking. You can print your No Parking signs at any of the locations listed on this page. You should post your signs at least 72 hours in advance of your pickup
