5 As soon as you start the engine of the new GL-Class, a whole host of innovative technical helpers is ready for use. These assistants can also come to your aid when it comes to staying on course in difficult situations and keeping an eye on the traffic even remaining alert if your concentration diminishes. Even the headlamps assist you by auto - matically adjusting to suit the prevailing weather, light and driving conditions. An encounter with a new definition of safe driving awaits you.

7 Overwhelming dynamism, even at a standstill The exterior of the new GL-Class radiates an impressive presence: the onlooker s eyes are irresistibly attracted to the dynamic lines of the design, their gaze sweeps appreciatively from the powerful tail end, over the athletic flanks to the characteristic radiator grille. The superiority of the car s appearance leaves no doubt that, for all its comfort, this is a luxury SUV through and through.

9 True greatness is in the detail Every kilometre driven in the new GL-Class is an unforgettable experience, encompassing a wealth of carefully composed impressions. The asphalt over which you glide plays only a minor role as a gentle whisper. The fine mate - rials in the interior and the superb workmanship indulge your appreciation of the special things in life. And the luxurious, generously sized interior imparts an attitude towards life embodied by poised, effortless superiority.

10 Safety Numerous reasons for serenity. The new GL-Class sets new standards when it comes to safety. By way of example, it offers the standard-specification Crosswind Assist unique in its segment. A large number of standard-specification and optionally available safety and assistance systems can support the driver in reaching their destination safely and in a relaxed state. And should an accident occur nevertheless, the safety assistants can ensure the best protection possible for the occupants. Comfort Totally relaxed on long journeys. Outstanding comfort is not an end in itself it increases motoring pleasure and performance in equal measure. The new GL-Class proves this like virtually no other vehicle besides. The combination of the generous and flexible space (with a maximum load compartment capacity of 2300 litres and three seat rows for seven passengers) and high-quality multimedia systems makes it the ideal vehicle in which to travel over long distances. 11 Design Environment An influential figure on the style scene. The GL-Class has always been a symbol of contemporary elegance and luxurious radiance. The new model is now proudly continuing this tradition: the design boasts eye-catching features with high-class appeal and careful workmanship. The effortlessly superior lines and the omnipresent chrome elements give the car a stunning appearance. And the interior is a shining example, too with its highquality and superbly processed materials. The new GL-Class takes responsibility in many different respects. It also lives up to the high standards it sets for itself by blending dynamism with sustainable thinking. A whole host of sophisticated measures results in significantly lower consumption and emission figures, for example clocking up a saving of 20% compared with the predecessor model whilst the output and torque have increased by up to 20%. 12 ESP with Crosswind Assist The new GL-Class is the first model in its segment to feature a standard-specification Crosswind Assist which can automatically reduce the effects of crosswinds during brief strong gusts of wind. To make this possible, the electronic brake control system ADAPTIVE BRAKE uses the data from the sensors on the Electronic Stability Program ESP and the sensor system on the AIRMATIC air suspension and the steering control unit EPS. The directional stability is supported by a brake actuation on the vehicle side facing the wind. The system only springs into action from a certain wind strength and from 80 km/h when the vehicle is being driven straight ahead or during slight cornering. The ESP sensor system also forms the basis for further functions which can support the motorist in difficult driving situations, such as the trailer stabilisation (in conjunction with the optional trailer coupling). An invaluable advantage above all in challenging situations such as when overtaking a truck or crossing a bridge: the Crosswind Assist improves handling as required through an active brake actuation

13 Standard equipment The new GL-Class offers comfort and safety of the highest calibre as part of its standard specification. The front seats feature fully electric adjustment, the THERMATIC automatic climate control ensures the correct interior temperature, and frequently used functions can be conveniently operated via the 2-button multifunction steering wheel and the new colour display in the instrument cluster. The Direct-Steer system enhances the vehicle s agility through precise steering characteristics, the DIRECT SELECT selector lever and the steering-wheel gearshift paddles on the multifunction steering wheel make gear shifting easier. Thanks to the all-wheel drive system 4MATIC the tyres have optimum traction on every road surface. The AIRMATIC air suspension with automatic load recognition and self-levelling keeps the vehicle level constant, irrespective of the load, whilst the ATTENTION ASSIST can warn drivers if their concentration starts to diminish. 14 Optional extras The fact that some of the optional extras for the new GL-Class are available for the very first time in this form speaks volumes about this vehicle s high standards. By way of example, four cameras represent the vehicle and its immediate surroundings from a bird s-eye perspective in a 360 view on the central display and therefore improve the driver s overview when manoeuvring into and out of parking spaces. The Night View Assist Plus uses an infrared camera to show you what would otherwise remain hidden from view in the dark. The new COMAND Online multimedia system with hard-disc navigation and optimised map display facilitates access to the internet via a web-enabled mobile phone. The optionally available heat-insulating, dark-tinted glass for the rear windscreen gives prying eyes the cold shoulder. 15 AMG Exterior Sports package designo Exclusive package On request an even more dynamic appearance is available courtesy of the AMG Exterior Sports package with AMG-specific front and rear aprons, a distinctive radiator grille, illuminated running boards plus powerful wheel-arch flarings. A real feast for the eyes comes in the form of the high-sheen AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with 295/40 R 2 tyres. Perforated brake discs with a brake calliper trim complete this irresistible look. The designo Exclusive package is perfect for lovers of unique interiors: designo leather for the seats plus hand-crafted armrests and door centre panels featuring a characteristic designo seat upholstery layout (customers can choose from black, porcelain or marron), not to mention a uniform design in designo leather for the beltline, dashboard and the centre armrest at the front and rear.
