5 Development of hydraulics and pneumatics in Romanshorn At the end of the 1940s, the company HYDREL began to develop more efficient hydraulic drives including controllers for mechanically actuated planning machines and cutting machines. Since the required hydraulic components were not available on the market, these devices were developed and manufactured at the company itself. For example one of the innovations from that time which is now an industry standard, the internal geared pump was developed. In the early 1960s, the company management expanded its sales activities and sold new MANATROL Colorflow hydraulic valves and WALTERSCHEID pipe joints. At the same time, the development of a licensed version of the HYDRO-LINE connecting rod cylinder for Europe began. In the early 1970s, the company took over the sales of PARKER Hannifin industrial hydraulic products and in subsequent years complemented these products with the PARKER product lines for mobile hydraulics, filtration, pneumatics and fluid metrology. In 2002, the HYDREL company became the PARKER Hydraulic Technology Center for Switzerland and for the region of Liechtenstein. In January, 2006, the newly founded GIRMATIC AG took over the hydraulic and pneumatic divisions which were no longer available from HYDREL GmbH and independently continues to sell them on the market.
