About Eaton DOWMAX ME Motor The Eaton DOWMAX ME Motor is an axial piston High Torque Low Speed (HTLS) motor. Incorporating a unique and compact double swash plate design with up to 22 pistons it differs from the more traditional, radial piston (HTLS) motors. As well as outstanding power to weight performance and compactness, the unique design offers significant benefits by reducing speed fluctuations, minimizing flow drift and ripple, common to (HTLS) radial piston motors, by as much as 50%. Due to its double swash-plate design, low speed performance is considered outstanding, even below 5 rpm, offering smooth and precise performance over a wide operating range. Furthermore the unique design ensures the motor works in the high efficiency zone, ensuring machines operate in the best conditions possible, ensuring optimum performance, energy efficiency and safety. For example, when installed in swing and winch drive applications in multi industrial and mobile platforms. Higher starting torque, overall efficiency and rugged construction makes DOWMAX the superior drive solution of choice for engineers, for machines with high load starts, where smooth and precise control is critical. This is particularly important to avoid machine vibration, instability or overshoot conditions that may compromise machine or operator safety and comfort. The Eaton DOWMAX ME Motor maintains its outstanding performance in the harshest of environments with a rugged and compact construction. An outstanding power to weight ratio makes it the most compact motor in it s class while it s high tolerance to thermal shock ensures consistent performance over a wide temperature range. Even applications with more than 70 C temperature differences between system and ambient continue to perform at an optimum level. Significantly lower noise levels are achieved through the unique dual swash-plate, multi piston configuration plus an advanced timing plate design that reduces pressure ripples that generate system pulsations. The Eaton DOWMAX ME Motor family offers a wide range of displacements with 13 standard models. With a wide variety of features and enhancements including; mechanical brake, planetary gear box, speed sensor and integral control features, the motor is easily customized to suit differing customer and application needs.
