2 TALLIS AMOS GROUP TAKES ON BS MOWERS We are very pleased to announce that we have acquired the trade and assets of Bristol based professional turf dealer BS Mowers Limited, as part of John Deere s Dealer of Tomorrow strategy. BS Mowers is largely known for its expertise in the fine turf machinery industry throughout Avon, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and North Somerset. To provide continuity of sales and service to customers in the area, all the BS Mowers staff led by Bob Culverhouse have been retained and the dealership will continue to operate as a turf only outlet under the TAG banner from January The business existing trading area will remain largely unchanged as a result of the merger. I am delighted that the Tallis Amos Group has agreed to acquire our company and bring its combination of experience and expertise to this part of south-west England, says Bob Culverhouse. It will allow us to grow the business and continue delivering the best possible parts and service support to existing and new customers, across a wider range of products from John Deere and other leading brands. MyJohnDeere.com can also organise any agronomic data that is fed from your GreenStar 2630 displays in the cab, collecting such information as field boundaries, yield and moisture data, application rates, work rates, fuel consumption and a whole host more detail. This data can be uploaded to MyJohnDeere. com either manually using a USB stick or, it can be transferred wirelessly on an automatic feed via Wireless Data Transfer (WDT). What s really exciting is that the system can also accept information from non-john Deere machines, which gives it total flexibility no matter what brands of equipment you run in your business. so you don t have to run John Deere equipment to utilise the system if you choose not to! The system has an internal Operations Centre which acts as a hub, giving you access to your chosen agronomists, advisors and of course your TAG dealer branch - service department. Through this connection, our service technicians can, with your permission automatically monitor servicing schedules for your fleet and if so required, can organise an automatic service call when prime-movers reach their required maintenance hours. Likewise, if a machine shows an error code, you can authorise our service department to deal with the issue promptly if it s an urgent issue. 12 TELEMATICS IN THE WORKPLACE There are many new technologies on the market today and one terminology that is well used is JDLink. But what does it do? Essentially, JDLink is a telematics system that connects all makes and models of self-propelled equipment to the office using a mobile device. It uses the same cellular network that most of us use for our mobile phones. The data collected from the machine operating in the field is transmitted to the farm office computer and enables the computer operator to monitor progress of fieldwork, so that management of such things as logistical decisions can be made where such things as inputs of seed or fertiliser can be planned for a drop point to enable efficient uptime and minimal downtime. JDLink can also be set-up - with the customer s approval to feed data to our service department so we can monitor when service intervals are due.
